Hi guys, Developer here. So browsers are essentially 2 main parts, the JavaScript engine that runs the interactive code and the rendering engine that creates the layouts and paints what's on your screen. Webkit is the layout engine for Safari and it uses JavaScript Core for its JavaScript engine. Chromium uses Blink as its Layout Engine and V8 as its JavaScript engine. Mozilla was using Gecko but they built ontop of that with Quantum. I'm not sure what theyre using for the JS engine at the moment, so yeah. Great question and no Marques Chromium is not correct 😅, V8 or Blink are both correct as the question was a bit vague as to which engine it was refering, however seeing as the comparison was to WebKit, Blink was more correct than V8. Also for David, Chromium is similar to AOSP, base project, open source (but rarely accepting contributions) that anybody can fork and customise as they see fit. They can add to it, remove stuff they dont want etc and release their flavor of browser. 👍🏾
Fun facts: JavaScriptCore has been marketed as Nitro. Firefox's JavaScript engine is called SpiderMonkey.
Fun fact: Chrome on iOS uses Webkit, not Blink + V8. Apple is requiring all alternative browsers on iOS to use their Webkit engine. Therefore I would have answered that question with Webkit, insisting it's correct for iOS (I forgot how the actual engine was called).
Wasn’t Quantum just a temporary effort to integrate some of the Servo code into Gecko, which is still in use today? Also, they have always used SpiderMonkey for JS, they never changed that part according to FF source docs.
Chromium does NOT use blink as its layout engine, it uses Trident as of 125.0.6368.0
I think Mozilla Firefox uses Spidermonkey as their JS engine

I think a big thing missed by many people talking about the Amazon/Beast is the International exposure for Amazon. Mr. Beast is popular in South America and Asia. Jimmy already said that it will be dubbed. I think it could be a good way for Prime to attract International Exposure, probably not the main rationale. But seems like a big-ish proponent that isnt being talked about.

Hey! Love the show, just wanted to drop in as someone who worked on the Apex Legends Global Series before. To answer the question posed at 28:40, the regional finals in which the hack occurred features team across the NA region and the teams who perform well would then go on to qualify for the international LAN event. Because the game is a battle royale, coordinating travel for all regional LANs would require accommodating more than hundreds of players and staff and so LANs are only (logistically and financially) feasible for international events! Hope that clears things up :D
The baseball thing makes a lot of sense. If you think your bat is juiced, u don’t feel u need to swing as hard, which can often lead to easier smoother swings and when the ball is going 100mph it will travel far enough.
The Dyson Outsize is the best vacuum I've ever used period. I love this thing. I just got the laser vacuum head adapter and it's so satisfying to see the dirt light up and then disappear. It's made cleaning at night kind of fun now. lol

I love Dex. Amusingly I am watching this on my phone plugged into a spare monitor because I didn't have a TV in this room yet. I think it's great now that everything is in the cloud. I use either my phone or my Samsung tablet with Dex to do most of my word processing these days. I only had a laptoop for work and haven't needed to buy one yet.
I have a tab s8 ultra, I just need a desktop browser, that would be great!
I wish apple would make better use of the Dynamic Island. I feel like every notification should smoothly and gracefully be presented or should expand from the dynamic island instead of just popping down randomly... It would definitely make the most out of that pill cut out.

A corked bat is significantly easier to swing accurately when compared to a regular bat. So while it may not be able to hit the ball as far as a regular bat, its easier to hit the ball consistently and with the right place on the bat, this ends up making them a significant advantage.
Slight correction that the Google made Blink engine is a fork of Apple's WebKit engine. That is to say that Google at one point took Apple's WebKit, and then decided to heavily modify it so it would suit their needs, so WebKit is like a very, very distant ancestor of Blink in a sense haha.

Maybe the deal is Apple now keeps Google search defaulted for free but now Gemini is powering Siri for AI things, while the regular assistant functionality stays intact.
Im not an expert on the Apex competitive scene but I believe that the tournament that the hacks took place was the defining week for which teams would fight qualify for the LAN event.
So those games were to be the last games that the team needed to play to qualify for the LAN event
I convinced only one person to buy an ember mug and he ended up getting a second for work.

Someone that retired from Bose once told me they used to have this underground crossway between two of their corporate buildings that allowed pedestrians to walk below the street without waiting for a walk sign to light up on the crosswalk, super efficient for traffic + really cool acoustics too.
1:33:40 As I understand it: Chromium is the open source browser (Including UI, bookmarking, settings and things) whilst Blink is what is used to render the web pages. There is also V8 which is another engine that is used by Chromium (and other things) which is what runs the JavaScript code.
Google actually pays Apple to be the default for Search on iPhones and is actually one of Apple's largest direct revenue sources for iPhone

I can’t leave my Ember mug either! Even though it costs so much more than my cup warmer (which does the same thing -without Bluetooth). It was a great gift I gave to myself. I’ve begun to wear out the inside bottom but It’s a neat thought that I can start it warming up from upstairs before I get dressed and downstairs. I feel spoiled and nerdish every time I use it.

Has Andrew ever heard of a coffee mug warmer? I have one at my desk at work and home and get to use all my mugs.
I think I did a bad job explaining, but it needs to be mobile. I want my ceramic mugs to keep my coffee warm, not a warmed for a ceramic mug. When I use my ember mug I'll leave it all over the place when I'm getting stuff done in the morning

You can absolutely use isopropyl alcohol in all of your plastics and leathers. I've been using it since the pandemic on all of my tools, plastic rubber leather everyday on after every client so no issues for a couple years now
