    Hi Dr. Doug,
Thank you so much. This information is what I need. I am 61 years old. I was diagnosed having serious Osteoporosis (T_score from -1.8 to -3.8) in 9 years. At first, my doctor had me taking Fosamax for 5 years then my doctor switched my medication to Evista for another 3 years, but my bone density result showed worsening year after year. I was so unhappy and stopped the medication. I told my doctor I’m going to the supplements and exercise weight-bearing path last year in July 2021. I started my plan in August 2021 until now. I am taking D3: 5000IU/day, Calcium citrate (with magnesium and Zinc) 1000mg/day, K2 (MK-7) 90mcg/day, plus intake nutritions: Chia seed, Dairy (Kefir, cheese), sardine, and green veggies. I just took a Dexa scan again on Sept 9, 2022. My T-Score is -3.4.
I was so happy with this result which showed at least the same as a year ago. My doctor said bone takes a long time to be built. So, I guess the T_score -3.4 probably is not accurate, but at least the number of T-Score is not worse than -3.8.
Final comment: I will continue to follow my path and hope it is on track. However, I wish I can get any help/coaching/direction from you applying your extensive model/plan to rebuild my bone, that will be the biggest dream in my life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I'm so glad you posted your comment. I just turned 61 and found out on my DEXA scan a few months ago that I also have serious osteoporosis (-1.0 to -3.9). My doc prescribed Fosomax and I had a horrible reaction to it; vertigo, dizziness, etc, so I had to go off it. Then my doc sent me to an Endocrinologist who prescribed Forteo, a self injectable drug. But when I got home I researched it and I refuse to take that. I went to another doctor for a second opinion and he recommended Evista, which sounds like an awful drug too. From all my research it seems that diet, supplements and weight-bearing exercise is my best path to improve my bone strength.
The fact that you took the drugs for years that were also prescribed to me and saw no improvement is good to know. And your 0.4 improvement in one year with your plan is awesome!

      Oh dear
..I had a misdiagnosed staph infected hip in 2002, a spacer put in, 2003 had hip replaced. I had a couple of small fusions due to spinal stenosis. 2017 the level above the fuse collapsed down, I had to wait till 2019 for it to be fixed. What a circus, the surgeon left me with a kyphosis, I had a heart attack in hospital and a bowel obstruction. đŸ˜± A year later he fixed this but part of the mesh came away and that was fixed a month later. The pain was horrible plus the fusion was now from pelvis to under the shoulders. I felt awful and my back was very tight and I still was hunched a bit. January 2021 I had an osteotomy, the metal rod had broken. By then I looked awful, my legs were covered in veins, I was 3 inches shorter & I had bad circulation. If that wasn’t enough, the hip from 2003 had lucency at the side of the femur. Surgery was scheduled
.a week before the surgery I stumbled and broke my right humerus. Nooooo I had both the hip and shoulder fixed
..
When I got back to my hospital room I was in agony in my groin and thigh
.a new set of pains.
I saw that surgeon again to complain and he more or less turned me away
.then I collapsed in my kitchen with low blood pressure and fractured my left shoulder.đŸ˜źđŸ˜€ a bad fracture, ripped away my rotator cuff, another 5 months and that can be repaired.
So I see a top orthopaedic surgeon, in January of this year. He ordered many tests
.the outcome was my hip bone was disintegrating and nothing could be done. What!! Eh!!
So now I’m in an electric wheelchair
..I can hardly walk
..I’m 77 and my husband has to look after me
.what a rotten retirement. Whoooooosh and life as you know it has gone.
surgeons & doctors have played a huge part in my demise. I thank God I have a sense of humour. đŸ€—
I asked my doctor for referrals for second opinions last year

I reversed osteoporosis naturally - without drugs. I had already researched the drugs and what the drugs actually do to the bones and to the rest of the body. And I had already discussed the bone drugs with my dentist! Dentists already know how bad these drugs are for bones, especially how they badly affect the jawbone.

This topic is on point for me.. just found out I have osteoporosis and it is LONELY out there in the world!! The doctor won’t even look you in the eye, much less suggest any other modalities other that pharmaceutical. I’ve got a notebook full of details from my research just this week trying to find ANY help so that I can possibly improve even a tiny bit without those horrible drugs.
Congratulations to this fine doctor trying to help in other ways. It is certainly time.

Hi Barb, I can relate to your situation. You're certainly not alone and osteoporosis can be reversed. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis last year at only 55yrs old. My femoral neck T scores were -3.2 and -3.1. My doctor strongly urged me to start on Fosamax. I researched it and decided I didn't want the side effects and I was not convinced of the efficacy to produce strong, functional bone. Instead I started what I call a bone building regimen (weight bearing and impact exercises). It also included some dietary modifications and supplements.
I just had my follow up Dexa and the results were positive. My worst T scores improved from -3.2, -3.1 to -2.7 and -2.5 respectively. In addition there were improvements in all other T scores. This was accomplished despite having contracted Covid which turned into Long Covid that prevented me from exercising for 4 months of the 12. I was diligent for the other 8 months. This is just to say that it's absolutely possible to reverse it with diet and lifestyle changes. I'm looking forward to next year reducing my T scores further and migrating completely out of osteoporosis. Good luck to you on your journey to regaining bone health!

@@paulelkins425 thanks SO MUCH for your inspiring reply
All that I have read has pointed me into realizing I made the right decision to do this without big pharma.
I am further distressed by my hospital using the FRAC scores instead of the previous T scores. There is a lot of controversy about this new method, some conflict of interest discussion and a sudden doubling of osteoporosis diagnosis since using this method. Plus now I have no way of knowing how this compares to my last scores etc. frustrating.
Since my diagnosis I have been diligent in my diet (no sugar, no alcohol ,alkaline- easy because I’ve been vegan for years) added a few vitamins (especially vitamin K and DHA)and really stressing my exercise.. I was impressed by the COMB study and I’m still doing daily studies on this.
I do get frustrated when I’m told to discuss my choices with my doctor! WHY? She told me to take 1200 calcium (omg
 !) and Fosomax
no exercise or anything else. No discussion of the drug. I asked for a consult and she set up a phone call to me, but never called TWICE, so I now just do my own research.
The one thing I am grateful for is the internet! Hallelujah!
      I’m older than you
all the usual issues- very thin, female! I am blessed with zero other issues, so I am concentrating on gaining muscle and using my considerable determination towards a better outcome. I am so happy for your success and I hope I will be able to duplicate your results! I thank you for posting this encouraging results.

Barb, your doctor sounds like mine. I've been doing my own research also and it seems that bone quality is more important than quantity. I've also seen that the DEXA scan may not be that accurate for thin women, but I sure would like to know if that applies to me. Good luck with your research!

I just watched this now and i agree with the last three comments... This interview COULD have been better.... with better questions...(example... WHAT scan is the best for accuracy on bone status? What is recommended rather than drugs to improve bone health?)
But I learned some great information in READING THE COMMENTS! Thank you to everyone who wrote.
I'm 61 and had a forceful fall in Manhattan in Dec, slipping on wet steps and slamming down with my foot behind me/ underneath me for 6 it 7 feet. I broke my femur. đŸ˜« (I'm going to say that i think that's because my knees no longer has the ability to bend with my foot touching my butt anymore and because of the force and the way my foot was UNDER me, something had to give)
The 2 activities I did that day were ice skating in Rockefeller Plaza and taking a tap class with my 22 yr old son, who had taken dance from me for 14 years and had just gotten done with 4 years in the Marines.
Long story but after being at 2 hospitals in Brooklyn (in my shock I thought i should go to a hospital near our air bnb)...I got to the first hospital at 7pm. Found out I broke my FEMUR. Got transferred to the next at 11:30pm as the first had no Ortho doc. I left there at 5:30am because this was a Fri night/early Sat and they were saying i could have surgery on MONDAY. Well, I live in Minneapolis. So i rented a car & that night we went to the family wedding and the next day, drove 20 hours home to Mpls where I had surgery on Monday evening.
NOW my left leg is ONE INCH SHORTER. đŸ˜± (Obviously this is unacceptable) I spoke to a leg lengthening expert. He had me get a dexa scan. I already have 2 fake hips so they scanned my spine and arm. I supposedly have ostopenia in my spine and just the very first number to be osteoporosis in my arm.
The BONE doctor suggested I start FORTEO. I was researching any bone drugs BEFORE I went to see him (anticipating that they might suggest drugs) and saw a French documentary on yt called "Selling Sickness" and the second half was about the osteoporosis drug Fosamax... About the woman that sued because she got necrosis of the jaw... She won her case, but she DIED 😔
So I knew going to see the doctor that i would never be taking any of those drugs..... And as soon as i got in the car, I researched Forteo. NO WAY.
So! I already eat pretty healthy, (whole foods, organic as much as possible, no processed anything, no sugar) but I'm focusing on eating MORE protein and things in my diet to build stronger bones. I'm trying to walk for strength but the discrepancy (even with a lift) caused some foot issues, which I've never had)
Anyway! It's good to read that other people are taking their own health in their hands because if we don't, we aren't necessarily getting good advice because the machine is not interested in that. Many of these doctors are just doing what they have been trained to do.... Which comes from the big research hospitals, owned by Big P.
So! I'm hoping i will build bone STRENGTH to have the leg lengthening surgery this Dec. But i am definitely doing it naturally.

People Forget that 2 hormones that you can buy online as creams without a prescription can help reverse bone loss and build strong bones
Progesterone and DHEA creams can fix bone loss in many cases so long as nutrition is reasonable and you get enough vit D3.
Of course, severe cases of bone loss may also require the hormones Testosterone and Nandrolone to fix severe bone loss. And you have to go to a good hormone clinic to get these and be trained on how to use.
Im on all of these mentioned, but hormone clinics can charge from 2400 to 5000 dollars a year.
