Whoever planned this performance ruined all her chances. Her song is pure art, her voice is great but Immagine pretending she would do great while people keep lifting her, throwing her around. She sang bad from the beginning, so even before the choreography started. She couldn't handle the pressure of singing on such a stage. It's not just the performance....
Check some of her other songs she sounds amazing! here its probably one of her first live preformances because she is new to the industry I'm from romania and she blew up last year so she is quite new and young

I understand why she didn't qualify, but to me the shakiness in her voice only added more emotion to the performance and made me appreciate the song altogether.

the shaking was mostly because of the choreo. she has a live acoustic performance and she did SO WELL in that. whoever staged the performance is to be blamed. of course there's things she could improve about her singing, she's hella new, but if it weren't for the choreo she would've done much better

I'm the only person who think that the nervousness she had maked the song more "colorful"?This is one of the performances I saw which are so pure and honest.
I personally think that the fact that she got caught with her voice and that she was being so nervous made the songs message more powerful. If someone who is anxious and is having mental illness like that, is performing a song which is about losing yourself and then literally just getting stuck with her voice here and there then it honestly gets even more touching. I felt that song and that it came from that performer, on that way I think it was pretty good. But also her voice is much weaker than on the actual song audio which made it way less powerful. Not sure why they did that or if she just couldn't make that voice happen on live. But I think that is the reason it didn't make it through (sorry for getting so deep into it but I literally thought about it 5 minutes before reading this)
I prefer live versions instead of official versions (music videos etc) because of the real details.
No you're not. I think her voice shaking made her delivering a more raw emotion. After all, this song is about feeling dragged back by a "crab bucket" society every time you're trying to show any initiative and do anything meaningful, and feeling overwhelmed and exhausted because of that.

I loved France and Switzerland for the fact that they were very artistic.. the in-tune dance from Switzerland and vocals.. and the emotion through Barbara's voice as well as the lyrics, the story and the staging complimenting the lyrics and the story.. I loved Romania as well.. the dancing was just too much and cost her the final ticket. I don't think it's her fault.. more so to whoever staged everything.

I think she had a heart attack while singing. I'm so sure she had a lot of emotions when she saw herself on the stage. I'm so sad she couldn't make it but she deserved to qualify, unfortunately the judge doesn't care she had a hard time on the stage.
She might have been emotional but at the same time she danced too much and when you move all the time that affects the voice emission.
Actually the judges did care of that because she was a qualifier for them. Roxen reaches 9th place on jury vote.

Well if she gave a bad performance due to emotions she shouldn't qualify. simple. all of the participants must have been nervous, that's not an excuse. this is coming from a romanian, and with such a bad performance, she didn't deserve to qualify at all.

More than age, it's actually really complex to maintain the breathing technique while dancing like she did ( no other singers moved that much and if they did they had choruses supporting them )

She's an amazing singer, but executing such intense choreography while singing perfectly is impossible. And she's very young without a lot of experience so I presume coping with intense stage fright isn't easy for her. They should have had a different plan regarding choreography where she's a bit more free to sing and let her voice out. With what you had to work with, you did amazing!

the choreography of Cyprus was much more difficult. I would include Serbia's as well but as there were 3 singers they could control their breath much more easily..

I feel sorry for her, this song has such a deep message. But let’s be honest, vocally she wasn’t there. That’s why she didn’t qualify.
I just listened to the studio version and it made a very different impression! Maybe it was stress of the live performance. Maybe they could also hold off with the choreography in those moments when it could have made it harder to sing well (like when she was carried), if she wasn't feeling too sure about it.

Y'all keep talking about vocals but she actually got *9th place* in the semifinal based on jury vote. So she passed the jury vote, just not the televote. My guess is that the choreo was too distracting for the average viewer

@@darrenfrans a month ago i predicted that geopolitical level romania, croatia and ireland (my favorites) are in the bad semi final, because the neighbors close to them vote by the second. And since there is a stronghold in the Nordic countries, and in eastern Europe, it was sure that the countries of central Europe will be at a disadvantage.
@@alexandregayda4439 I understand your point. What I suspect from the geopolitical was a little bit different. I kinda suspect Romania since they didn't have support from Moldova. In my opinion, I thought Croatia was in a good semi because there are Slovenia and North Macedonia. When Belarus was disqualified, I was worried with the eastern europe because there are only Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. We knew Russia and Ukraine would not give each other point in jury. I really thought they both might not qualify, but their staging did a great job to attract attention outside eastern europe. With the nordics, I actually worried about Sweden because they only had 1 neighbour in that semi, unlike the previous years when they usually more neighbours.
@@alexandregayda4439 for me personally, geopolitical is not that huge thing in this semi. I think it's about how stand out your song compared to others. Because televoters won't vote for their top 10, they will only vote for 2-3 countries. Maybe that's why some countries flop

Eu unul nu mai suport muzica romaneasca. Din 2000 incoace nu a mai aparut nimic ca lumea. Peisaj invadat de manele, hiphop, pitzigoi anemici si matze lesinate. Nici sa nu mai aud. Ce naiba sa incurajezi, ca mi-e si rusine.

It's not really just about that. Like, you don't understand on what the judges judge.
The juries qualified her, which surprises me given her vocals. I would have voted for it if I could, but I was in the wrong semi and people wont normally vote for something if it sounds bad. They should have found a way to stage it without the choreo.

The judges gave her a good result. It's not the Eurovision organiser's fault (except those who decided on this choreo) that the people didn't vote for her.

i don't care if the vocals were bad or at least shaky, i have so much respect for her, singing and standing on this stage and living her dream - the song and the message behind is so strong, so powerful and for sure amazing. The staging was amazing too. Even if she's not qualified for the final, she deserves all the love and support - for me one of the best songs ever made for eurovision.

@@bigdave9188 sure she can sing pretty well, her vocals in acoustic version was absolutely amazing; i'm sure it's just the stage performance (dancing and all that stuff) that made her voice shaky and a lil' out of breath and maybe anxiety too

@@missa2730 for me she sang modestly, it is true in some moments you could see that her voice was quite weak and hoarse, but we are still talking about small moments and for the rest it seems to have gone well. I don't understand why you all say she's completely out of tune
@@michelemontefusco737 well her act was a lil wild so her voice was really shaky (i know her voice is shaky from natural but in the original music clip it was different) she couldn't reach some notes after all she did a great job!
In a semi with almost everybody having great to perfect vocals, it's easy to see how Roxen's mistakes could standout. The jury actually had her qualifying, so it was the people of Europe that killed her.

Exactly what I think. Why did she have to move all over the stage when apparently her voice can't handle it? I think the song is one of the strongest this year, and she is an interesting artist. The studio version is amaaaazing. But I lost all hope when her live vocals were so shaky, and I ended up not voting for her. I wonder how she would have sounded if she would have a less dancy performance. I think she would be in the finals in that case.

I believe that Roxen deserves another chance. They were barely 21 during their performance and if you listen to some recent songs and lives of theirs they have really come a long way and I think they deserve another chance at eurovision
