I think this plane has a real use for the airbrake, sometimes it can help with getting the shots in because you lock up less.
Yes, it makes you slightly more vulnerable because you lose energy, but I think it might help in 1v1s

The rudder on this thing is so bad that even mild asymmetric wing damage will cause the plane to start to yaw at high airspeeds. Not sure why the supermarket design team thought a board from a wooden fence was a big enough rudder for this big fella. Or maybe gaijin coded it incorrectly, who knows.

if you think Simitar rudder is bad now imagine having one physical rudder with no virtual effect at all, yep, these are all the MiGs: 19, 17, 15 (and Bis), MiG9 (And L) the I225 is probably the worst and then MiG3's.

tip for anyone here for tips to fly this thing; take 6 mins of fuel. you still get enough time to zoom about and get kills, but makes your energy ridiculous and means you can surprise even sabres with your ability to turn inside them. also has fathead engines so its energy retention and generation is ridiculous for its br, i clown on f104's with it and regularly get 4 kill games.

Its a straight up bully with a downtier, but that is a rarity at this compressed BR range. This whale would be deserving of a 9.3 if it wasn't so janky for aiming.
the best way to get gun kills is to use air brakes. the simitar turns well while deaccelerating. this is also the only good way to bnz with guns. bnz with missiles is not really possile. the simitar only works when your team survives or when there is not enough enemies around to get you
I found that when you and your enemies are going really slow, and you're on top of them, when diving back down, the AIM-9Bs become really effective at low speed as they accelerate. And by that, I mean they turn on a dime when launched, and unless the enemy has flares, it's done deal most of the time

This thing looks like an absolute pain. I hated the F-104 in Italy because you're basically a support fighter that relies on enemy mistakes or teammates setting everything up for you. Both of those planes actually had some measure of maneuverability though, unlike this thing. In a situation like these, I could actually swing the nose around to get a good spray with the Vulcan, which helped me out a lot. This thing relies even more on speed and enemies making mistakes, and that just looks awful.
99% of top tier Britain is like this, they just tend to be worse than everything else at their BR.

Actually if youre dont expect much from guns, Scimi is very good. I personally treat it like a Phantom but on 8.7 - its a perfect missile bus for his BR.

What's your thought of the Scimitar versus the F11-F1? I enjoyed my time in the Scimi, using its roll to account for terrible rudder - but the F11 just feels so stiff at the speeds you want to maintain in it.

Hey guys is it me or did 50cal. got some buff i played my prem japanese sabre to get f104 and this thing is amazing
SU7B at 9.3 next please, it's insanely good at downtiers and you get can 2 kills in an uptier with your S24s. They also work like flares so you can survive any missile but radar obviously if you shoot them at 0.5-0.6K as the missile closes on you
I've been flying the Su-7B stock recently, any advice to counter the weird rudder back-and-forth when turning hard with mouse aim?
@@niggalini use S23s shoot them at 1.3k, if it's a Vulcan you don't stick it shoot a bit above with your 30mm and break off, outturn and outrun F4Cs, use S24s as flares when the missile is 0.5K away and cut afterburner, upgraded you rip at 1270 I believe, stock may be 1245 or so, landing flaps use them at 490 to land gear can go 520, flaps in this plane use them like the Yak3U where you pop them and retract them so you get better turn rate, like you make them look like combat flaps. If you are behind an enemy and both of you are going match 500m is a good time to shoot the S24s, if he's slower than that maybe 600m. Don't go below 550kph as it will wobble thanks to the rudder unless you are in a 1v1

Man I love playing the Scimitar, in a 8.7 or even 9.0 match, nothing can touch you. I think I've found my way with the rudder, but I wouldn't really expect much because as DEFYN said, you need to predict way ahead pf where your enemy is going, and if they react to where your nose is going, you're not gonna get shots in. Although, one of my favorite features of the Scimmy is that it has so much ammo that I can spray for days.

I've seen your vids with planes with the 20mm vulcan, and in the decription you recommended armored belts.
May I ask why? are they better?
Yes, they are. The AP-I(t) round of the vulcan will destroy every jet engine in a single hit at ranges up to ~1km, you can test this in the damage preview screen. It even goes thru most double engine installations. Whereas the HE round has very underwhelming damage, especially compared to other HE rounds at the tier, such as 23mm HEFI, because it doesn’t do much fragmentation dmg. The somewhat recent general buff to fragmentation damage hasn’t been very beneficial for the vulcan when compared to others imo. The AP-I(t) round also achieves comparable damage against wings and other fuselage structures. (About 2 hits for destruction of most wings.)
One thing to note is that the AP-I round will despawn after 4km, the HE, however, will travel for 5km before disappearing. Doesn’t really matter tho.
@@user-bl1lh1xv1s understood, btw in armor viewer I tested the 30mm of the JA37C Viggen and the APHE rounds of that has more dmg/fragmentation as compared to the HEF-I... is this a bug or what?
@@mab2187 one thing to consider when testing rounds shot from aircraft cannons with HE filler is that, unfortunately, the proper effect of the explosive action doesn't seem to be shown. Rounds that rely mostly on explosive damage tend to perform better in actual games than what might be apparent in the preview. It could be that that's the case for the HEF-I rounds of the Viggen, since they really don't produce many fragments. I personally much prefer the APHE on it anyway. It has a very low fuze distance which makes it not very susceptible to over-penetration, so it works very well against aircraft - similar to the APHE shells of the NR-30.
The APHE seemed to do more consistent damage when I was flying the Viggen, but according to the game files the HEF-I travels 500 meters farther than the APHE, which is more of a problem for this gun than it is for the vulcan, since the APHE travels 'only' 2km to begin with (in practical terms this _may_ mean that the round will despawn before reaching a target if you try to hit it in a tailchase at ~1.5km while you're both travelling at mach, so it's an unlikely shot anyway, but still):

also my god i got fireflashs for the f.7 and ive done a handful of cool shots with them but they fck clean off about 1/3 times it seems. worse when they both fail in succession. ik relying in a2a's is dumb but sometimes you need them. however i found the proximity for them was nice

DEFYN, you always say know your planes and know your enemy’s planes. How do I go about that? Do I need to grind all country’s to understand my plane and the enemy’s? Is there an easier way? Maybe a CZcams video would help if you’re willing to do that. Just would like to know the best way
It takes time, i did it by flying the main planes at the BRs.
The planes that aren't very good aren't as much of a problem, if you can kill a sabre you can kill an FJ4 in a sense.
You don't need to know them completely to be effective. It's just the better you know every plane the more options you have.
Doesn't mean you have to fly every plane tho, although it helps for a better understanding. Watching videos on the vehicles that give you problems or asking people what they are good at is about 70-90% of the knowledge you need in the end.
You want to know if you can: climb, turn or run in the crudest sense of it
Just make sure the people you ask/watch are credible as there is a lot of misinformation in this community
