  • This week on the channel, I am taking on the exciting world of 3D printing! I've received the LK5 Pro 3D printer from Longer, and I can't wait to share my experience with you. This printer is the perfect choice for beginners, as it comes 90% assembled, making it super easy to get started. With a print size of 300mm x 300mm x 400mm, the LK5 Pro is capable of printing larger objects than most printers in its class.
One thing I love about this printer is how quiet it is, allowing me to work on other projects without being disturbed. Additionally, it's open source, so I have the option to install various add-ons, such as an auto-leveling tool, to enhance its functionality down the line.
The LK5 Pro is also equipped with a colour touch screen, which is incredibly user-friendly and easy to navigate. The ceramic coating glass bed is another fantastic feature, making it simple to remove finished prints without damaging the bed. The printer's high-temperature resistance Teflon tube can withstand temperatures of up to 280 degrees, making it ideal for printing with various materials. Join me as I dive into the world of 3D printing and put this impressive machine to the test!

I was actually looking at buying this model of 3D printer. All the reviews I looked at are from people who have built/used dozens of other 3D printers. While I appreciate their expertise, your review as a first time user makes me feel that I’m going to be ok with this model as my first printer. Thanks!

What a cracker of a 3D printer. Looks a little bigger than my Ender 3 V2. Great review. 👍

Probably a good thing that the support print covered Mark's branding - he changes it every couple months so the video would be out of date quickly. 😉 Great vid 👍

You and Mark Dainer are the best content providers. Another great video especially making that square and testing its accuracy. Also the tip about base support was something I needed to understand as I have looking at getting a 3D printer hoping to use SketchUp as my primary cad software for design

Your to lovely. Thank you. They are super helpful tool to have and I have found so many uses for the printer since having it. I use free sketch up for my cad design. It works great the only downside of the free version is if you are printing parts of a design you have to seperate that part into its own sketch up file as when it exports as a STL it exports everything in the file. Hope that makes sense. Sketch up is fantastic and for free so perfect place to design 😀

A splendid video Ainslee - are you called The Engineer now? :-)
My son does so much with his 3D printer. He made me a table saw to use with my Dremel tool and it works really well. He has made me some bookbinding aids too. This video will help so many people new to this concept to have a go themselves. I like the panchromatic printing by the way! I wish you many happy creations. Eryk.

I got my LK5 Pro from my dad for Christmas and it was missing so many pieces and one of the stepper motors for the x-axis had a screw snap off that held it to the frame so the lid only had three screws holding it on. I reached out to their support and it was terrible! I had to order a new stepper motor and I had to order small nuts for two screws that were missing. I got this on December and its now February and I still don’t have it up and running because I had to deal with their support service and when that didn’t work I had to figure out what I needed and ordered them. This has been a nightmare of an experience. I’ve considered just throwing the while thing away.

Looking at buying a 3d printer. When looking at the shipping it says it is $150 USD to Australia though so that would stop me from buying this printer. Would prefer to buy one locally. Really great explanation on the 3d printer.

Hey Ainslee, great video. I was wondering what filament you started with and whether you found the choice made any difference?

Hey thank you. I started with PLA+ from a company called ink station. I haven’t tried anything else so hard to compare but what I did use I was happy with 😀

Hi, I just got a Longer LK5 pro but I'm having trouble with using my miniSD card, I bought it separately. I've downloaded Cura on my computer, found some prints and sliced them but when I save to my miniSD and put it in 3d printer nothing shows up in the files. What am I missing?

    • @SmallFryCreations
      @SmallFryCreations  Před 3 měsíci

Hmmm thats a strange one. Maybe the printer needs a firmware update. Cura might be ahead of the printer and then the files can't be read. I used the MiniSD that came with the printer and never had issues but I would recommend checking the firmware is upto date on the printer. Hope this help.

Yes I know that. But I can't find one here in Australia so the shipping just knocks it out of the park. Do you have an affiliate link??? That would be awsome.

Hey Tim I see what your saying. I have just checked the link and the company has now stopped shipping to Australia. Very annoying as I wasn’t aware until you said something. I will reach out the company and see if I can get any more information. Sorry that’s very annoying

    Some advice:
-Do not touch the printer bed with your hands (oils are bad for adhesion).
-Buy spare endstop switches because they are often very low quality
    - Add ferrules if they aren't already
