All of these pieces were conceived with virtuoso performers in mind, and this release serves as a belated memorial to a fine Russian violinist. Andrei Korsakov (1946-1991), during his short life, gained acclaim and prominence both in Russia and abroad. He was awarded a title of the RSFSR People's Artist, and the Holland Telegraaf stated, "Korsakov can be compared to Heifetz: he is capable of doing anything, and this ability is combined with his remarkable composure and lack of any showiness."

A real loss for the music world. This is absolutely beautiful. A first-rate production and the playing is stupendous.

Fine playing but hardly idiomatic. Where are the glissandi?
