Here is a quick walk around I did on my refreshed outback. I got into an accident at Pitt Race last September and it took till March to get fixed. Then COVID hit. I've been spending the down time doing a few things to the car, and it's now ready for it's first track day since last Sept. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
This is easily the cleanest Outback XT I've seen. Phenomenal work, man! I love it! I'm picking up a 5-Speed Manual 2008 Outback XT from Colorado in a couple of days. Our Tribeca and our Corolla were BOTH just crushed to death by a giant 100-year old elm tree that was blown over by the severe winter weather we just got nailed by. It's been a rough week, so picking up a sweet new daily will make me feel all sorts of better. Wish me luck!
out of curiosity, what are you paying for the 08 manual outback?
@@365kayak Out the door, I paid right around $8,200 cash. For the mileage and condition, it was well worth it. It's a 5-Speed Manual, Diamond Grey Metallic 2008 Outback XT Limited with 119k miles on the odometer. I'm definitely still in the honeymoon phase, but I think it's going to be an awesome daily driver for years to come. Here's hoping! Cheers.
@@Holmesson Sounds like a great deal! You're going to love it.
I'm thinking of selling my mine. It is identical to what you just bought except it's black with black interior. I have loved it for 5 years now, however, I'm just ready for something with tan interior. My dogs have light colored hair so I'm constantly vacuuming it out!! Lol
Beautiful car. I got an 07 with the manual transmission myself and love it. You don’t see too many of them around.
What’s the engine block rated at.. I got 315hp with a pro tune and running 93 octane I’m afraid to add more mods bc I don’t wanna break something
I’m kind of jealous that you have an 07. I have an 05 5speed limited lol
Just got myself an 09 manual, no plans for it yet but who knows.
Was that the one that GT MOTORS in NJ had?
@@iamnadexey same here 09 myself with now lil over 69,000, or cars was Subaru last year to make a manual for the XT line up..
Wow that is an incredible xt. I love everything you’ve done, pure perfection.
Dude i love your outback i own an sti ‘15 but i drive my wife outback ‘09 most of the time and i love it.nice work!
Amazing build. Loved it ❤️
Damn dude, she's looking nice and shiny and sleek. Needs a nickname, Bullet.
From Russia with LOVE!!! Good WORK!!! You"re really SUBARIST
In the robotic voice of the great Stephen Hawking: Amazzing!
I gulped when I saw the exhausts... that's one sick and thick plumbing...
Goals! I can't wait to do up my outback.
Love your OBXT. I would love to drive it. My 08' OBXT is an automatic so I use it to go up in the mountains here in the PNW. Oh the color is what color I want my outback. 😁✌
Dude that things sick!!
Hi fella, your ride looked that good that I thought it was a lot newer. Looks amazing and I'm with you on the rear seat straps as they do rattle as the car ages ((real pain). Keep treating her well and she'll do the same to you.
This is what I WISH my 05 looked like 🤣
Good job 👍
Great work, amazing looking car! I own Outback 08, manual transmission, 2,5 engine, and I love it!
Beautiful build dude. Had an 02 L.L. Bean, buddy of mine STI swapped his legacy. Always wanted to see someone do something with the Outback. Doing plugs must suck now though. Awesome build, sad to see the fog lights gone.
As a 6th gen XT owner, I have always preferred the body style and the manual transmission of the older models. Nicely done! Clean.
Gorgeous wagon
that’s so nice dude… very tasteful man!
2003 legacy B4 (spec B) here. When I grow up, I wanna be just like you. One love from Jamaica. Stututu
Buddy of mine is originally from Jamaica. He drives a mean STI. czcams.com/video/S1HPoemdTW4/video.html
Still my favorite OBXT. I saw it on ThatDudeInBlue a couple years ago I think. I have an STI but would love a Forester or Outback with STI swapped stuff. Your car makes me want OBXT more than Forester for a few reasons, especially steering wheel controls that Forester didn't get until after ugly 2009 MY.
Beautiful Subaru Outback! Gosh I have Subaru Outback 2017 Touring Package best vehicle I ever had and I’m about to get a new 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness in June. It’s hardest things to give up my 2017 Subaru Outback .
I went the opposite way with my 2005 OBXT manual and lifted it 1-1.25”. Still working out the gremlins as it sat for about a year getting the clutch replaced. I am about to do the JDM double DIN radio kit. One of these days I will do an STi driveline swap.
Love this!
I just bought myself a red. 2005 XT limited can't wait to put some time and of course the money into it I don't see to many of the outback XT on the road washington state..
Beautiful car, my friend. I'm looking for an XT now, it's going to be my dad wagon. Let's hear it run.
You can hear it good in this video. czcams.com/video/pXHctV1CqpI/video.html
The baddest obxt ive ever seen. Im peanut butter and jelly
So nice!
That car is clean
Good to see another video up man. Car looks great. As far as chassis bracing goes, what do you recommend starting with? I've got whiteline sway bars front and rear, kartboy end links, and tower braces front and back. Getting RCE SS1 coilovers put on shortly as well.
Wow, lots of money and work in this, and it all looks immaculately done. Really tasteful too, the sleeper aspect is exactly what I like. Started out my automotive career at Volvo of Alexandria/Subaru as a Subie tech way back in 1979. My current daily is an 09 OBXT MT. Bought it with a trashed engine; put a factory short block in it. Don’t care so much about the power you have, a downpipe and a tune will probably do me, but I’m interested in suspension mods. I came to this from owning Alfas and Porsches for years, so handling and braking is paramount. I’d love to see this and pick your brain, I’m in VA too, Lynchburg area. Where are ya?
I'm in Alexandria, VA. So a ways from Lynchburg.
You know, this may be an unpopular opinion among subaru enthusiast but a lowered outbackXT looks so much better than a Legacy GT
Almost like a factory widebody LGT 😉 my in-law totaled my 09 LGT next is Outback 3.0r
my god. what a car.
super dope man
Absolutely Mean
dam this is so tight
Cool setup. Let me know if your ever up in pittsburgh again (pittrace) love to see the car in person and shoot some photos.
holy fuck that is gorgeous
absolutely love the exterior mods you've done to your car, and the engine mods as well! how much was the sti trans swap? how long did it take?
I think it was about $6K parts and labor for the STI 6 Speed swap.
Outback XTs and Forester XTs are the ultimate sleepers. This one is pretty awake though
Love the car man. I'm looking at purchasing a legacy Outback xv manual. I also have the dream of a do everything car. My m5 doesn't have the off-road potential the outback does. Have you ever considered air bad long travel suspension? I know you track so I think this is unlikely, but I thought maybe it has crossed your mind as the do everything build.
Where did you get the front chin spoiler I can’t find them anywhere or even traces of them online !
Incredible build: I’m in the middle of a 07obxt build myself; which sti drivetrain specifically
Is this? Very interested in making that work, I’ve been looking for a spec b setup but love the sti differential lock.
Also, what steering wheel is this and did you retain the steering wheel audio controls?
Thank you!
You know I'm not sure what year STI transmission this is. I bought it from "Gears and Gasoline" who already had it in a Legacy they were parting out. So I bought the whole 6 speed swap from them. For the steering wheel, the 05-07 is different than the 08-09. My 08 uses the same wheel as the 08-14 STI. You may need to research to find the specific wheel needed for your car. It might be this one. smyperformance.com/damd-d-shaped-leather-steering-wheel-2004-2007-wrx-sti.html
Where did you find the chin spoiler? Also you should get the adjustable arm rest. I personally like the jdm headlights with the little rectangles but I haven't found a set in the us.
I ordered them from Japan. I got japanparts.com to acquire for me. I also found a guy in Russia who said he had a couple of sets. Here is his Instagram. instagram.com/mysubie/?hl=en
Awesome car, brother! I just bought an 05 OBXT myself, and definitely interested in doing some of the JDM exterior upgrades. Did you have to do any major work to make the JDM front bumper fit? What about the Legacy GT suspension components? Is there a thread somewhere I can reference? Thanks, man!
Beautiful car. Was it an auto to begin with? I have an 08 OBXT I'm transfering my 05 OBXT 6MT swap into. I'm trying to find out if the ecu can be flashed to an MT version with a grounded identifier pin like my 05 had, or if the newer 08 32 bit platform is different. COBB won't say, and neither can tuners in PDX. Such a specific question.
No it was a 5mt to start.
Hey delmar i put an avo catback on my obxt this weekend. Did u use extended ehaust hangers in areas? Also the avo mid straight pipe came with an adjustable hanger, where did you mount that one. High or low? Or middle? The muffler tips are a touch to high at my current set up.
Mit. I used the AVO Outback specific catback. Those mufflers have downturned tips lock stock. So I didn't need extended hangers or anything.
@@oldskoolbiker Roger that
Came here from the old vid from that dude in blue
What a nice looking Outback! Where did you get the frontlip/splitters? I’ve been looking for these for a long time and I cant find it nowhere :-(
Used Japanparts.com to buy in Japan and ship to .me.
Hi,from where you buy front bumper cover or the part lime a knife down?
I like the fan on the intercooler. Is there a build list somewhere?
So glad I tripped over your video, Delmar. What specific model of Fortune Auto coilovers are you running? I have a 2008 Outback 3.0 and have been trying to figure out if the Fortune Auto Legacy models will fit an Outback. Curious if this is related to the STI control arms you’re running.
I would say call up Fortune and talk to them. If your car is lowered, then Legacy coil-overs should be fine. If you are stock height, not sure if Legacy coil-overs have enough adjustment for the additional height, also not sure how much, if any additional suspension travel Outback's have. I honestly don't know which I have, because I just called Fortune, and told them what my car setup was and they made the coil-overs to fit (guessing they are the Legacy ones since I'm lowered).
@@oldskoolbiker Awesome, thanks for the details. I am still stock height, so I may go with the BC Racing set they offer for the Outback. My understanding is the Outback shock body is physically longer. Were you happy with the BC Racing Coil-overs you used to have before switching to the Fortune Autos?
Looks really good! Thinking of upgrading mine too. Please share the link of the parts
Link is in description of video.
Nice!
Your car is sick ! What year STI did the seats come out of ?
I believe they came out of a 2012 STI.
This is by far the baddest Subaru I know.
Así quiero uno, en enero lo mando a buscar al norte
Wait the dccd button, so you have the dccd working with the 6speed swap??
Yes. www.dccdpro.com/product/dccdpro-universal-controller-spiider/
Hey there. Could you please tell me your cars build date and what your ABS unit model number is? That would be very nice. I have an 08 OBXT AT I’ve swapped to manual and there are abs and vdc issues. Does your car have VDC?
I believe I’m now seeing that MT spec Bs possibly didn’t have VDC.
VA owner here as well! Just picked up an 09 5MT OBXT this month. I've been doing some research and I see Company 23 discontinued the boost controller you have. Do you know of any other ones that don't give that flutter sound under load?
I don't. Grimmspeed is fine and you only get the sound with an external waste gate.
Finally Sold my 2007 and got an 2008. Its not quite at the danger level as yours but its close. You ever make it down towards Culpeper?
Incredible build. Love the custom work. But here’s an easy one: what is the Kenwood unit you installed? I thought the two units (radio/thermostat) were connected and couldn’t be separated. I have a 2009 Outback XT 5-speed with a 2020 STI engine. I would love to make it a six like yours. 😊
You need the JDM Double Din kit, some wiring harness and head unit. See this thread. www.legacygt.com/topic/75402-dual-hvac-double-din-kit-completed-install-thread/
Nice toy bro
Absolutely beautiful , what tire size are you running by the way
225 50R17
Hey, where did you get the JDM bumper, and what gauge pod is that on the dash?
I got from japandirectjapanese.com
Nice car. I’d raise hell at the tire shop for banging those lead weights on those nice wheels though! They should know to use stick-on weights.
I requested that. The brakes are so big the stick on weights rub the caliper.
How did you paint the grille? I’ve got one myself and the black looks amazing
I just rattle can it.
@@oldskoolbiker did you clearcoat it?
Hello, '09 obxt here- doing an '07 jdm front end swap. Trying to find the bumper skirts pn-E2417AG090 you have in your parts list. Where'd you pick them up? Very nice car. I have enjoyed the track videos you have posted.
This guy in Russia had a couple of sets. facebook.com/ruslansibby. I ended up getting mine from Japanparts.com. When I got mine they said only two new sets left in Japan, and I got one of those.
@@oldskoolbiker thank you
Beautiful car. As you did to put 486 HP? I have an Outback 2006 XT
at 5:56 when you pop the hood, what is the red button you added, also what does that traction button below it do, I do not think my 2005 has that traction off button, does that disable the ABS? or something else.
The red button turns on the additional fan I have on the oil cooler. The traction control off button right now does nothing as I disabled the traction control be unplugging the steering angle sensor. After installing an STI steering rack it messed up the traction control. It is fixable but would need something like a raspberry pi to intercept the signal from the steering angle sensor and convert it to the expected value.
@@oldskoolbikerThank you for the response, appreciate it!
Is your oil cooler setup from somwhere specific or did you piece it together?
No it was pieced together.
Very clean build. Just wondering how you're running the Acessport with TGV deletes without any code issues.
It's an older tune before Cobb restricted their software.
How were able to swap the passenger sensor in the from the obxt seats into the sti seats, I’m doing the same swap
Just drilled out the rivets on the sensors on each seat to remove them. Then just zip tied the Outback Sensor onto the the STI seat. It plugs right in.
Beautiful machine dude same as mine wanted to upgrade from tyre size 225/55r17 to 225/60r17 advice is the tyre will be rubbing with the shocks or any part at the bumps
If you are stock height, you will probably be ok with the taller tire. Keep in mind if you do this your speedo will read around 5% low. Keep that in mind so you won't get speeding tickets. I actually went the other way with mine, after lowering the car I'm running 225/50r17.
Wow
SubaruOutback.org sent me here, NICE ride!
Man, that's a beautiful outback. I looked up the rooducts, and they say only to 04 on a legacy. Did you have to do any modifications to get them to work on the 08? I've got an 07 pre face-lift.
No they fit fine. I removed the fog lights to use that as an intake.
@oldskoolbiker awesome thanks for your help and inspiration for my 07xt.
i just bought a 2005 Outback 3.0R H6 but cant coilovers for it can someone help me
What color is this Outback painted into? Magnetite gray?
I've been looking for coil overs. What kind are yours?
I have Fortune 510 Coilovers with Swift Spring upgrade and rear adjustment extenders (12K springs Rear, 10K springs Front). fortune-auto.com/coilovers/510series/
@@oldskoolbiker thanks man much appreciated.
did you remove subframe spacers? debating if i should take them out if i track the car
I did not.
How.. what’s the engine block rated for I’m at 315hp with a pro tune and 93octane I’m worried imma blow something If I add anymore mods please help me out.. I’m ready to take that next step to 350-380hp but I really don’t wanna break anything I wanna do it the safest way possible
It's a Cosworth block rated for 700HP. It's got forged internals and Darton sleeves. To get the numbers you want, you'll likely need, in addition to what you have, which I assume is at least a bigger downpipe, bigger injectors, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, and maybe bigger fuel pump. That will be pushing it on stock internals.
@@oldskoolbiker ive got all that atm plus a 3 port boost controller. There’s only a couple more things I can really do. It’s an OBXT most hp you’re gonna get is like 380-480max. Do you know what the original engine block is rated for is what I’m wondering. cause my next step is to either go with bigger fuel injectors and a pump as well as swap my vf52 turbo for a 20g. But I’m not sure what the block is rated for stock. Need to know that way I know if I need to get the new block first before I upgrade that. I’m already pushing 315hp with my setup I just don’t wanna blow my engine block since mines stock
You running spacers for the wheels? If yes what size?
1 inch. They are just for looks, and street driving only. The wheels clear the brakes without spacers, and I have a set of wider wheels I use when I go to the track.
where did you find the JDM Outback Front Bumper Skirts.
I ordered them from Japan. I got japanparts.com to acquire for me. I also found a guy in Russia who said he had a couple of sets. Here is his Instagram. instagram.com/mysubie/?hl=en

Where in VA are you? I just picked up an immaculate low mileage 07 OBXT with 5 speed. I want to keep it mostly stock since it is a gem but eventually would like to get it closer to 300hp. I’m in Madison
I'm in Alexandria.
@@oldskoolbiker NO WAY! That is where my XT was from until last week!

I’ve been wanting to sti swap my ‘15. I’m just a broke bum with big dreams. Been wanting to get into car or truck modding for awhile. Just can’t keep the funds long enough.
I've got an 06 OBXT and I'm about to install a set of 500s w/hyperco springs; 8K front & rear. I'm not likely gonna track the car so what do think about the spring rates for a daily? Would you suggest different rates? I'm in Richmond so let me know the next meet/gathering you'll be at so I can talk to you and check out THE OBXT. BTW, there's a cars & coffee meet here every other Saturday so check out the schedule and if you come down, let me know.
I'd probably go with 8k front 10k rear. I've got 10k front 12k rear on mine.
I might be at Dominion Raceway on the afternoon of Thursday June 17 for SCCA TNIA. I'll reply here if I'm going.
@@oldskoolbiker you track your car which justifies stiff springs. If it's your daily too, how's the ride quality?
@@oldskoolbiker yeah, make SURE you let me know if you go to dominion.
@@vannevels6758 It's not my daily, but it's perfectly streetable. It actually rides just fine. Not overly stiff.
how did the 5-speed treat you?
5th gear broke twice at the track so I did a 6 speed swap.
@@oldskoolbiker sounds about right, so sick
I have an '06 OBXT and the first thing I want to do is wheels and tires is a 225/50 going to ruin AWD or the Speedometer if I am running 17in wheels? and if I wanted to go with 18in wheels without messing that stuff up, how? I am a total noob and dont want to mess up my car.
Running 225/50 17 won't hurt the car, but it will cause the speedo read 3.5% high. That size won't look right unless you've lowered the car. If you go with 18's I'd probably look for 18x8 rim with around a 46mm offset. Tire size I'd go for is 235/45 18. This is very close to the same diameter as the 255/50 17 to the speedo won't be off much. You can use this website to compare different wheel and tire sizes. www.willtheyfit.com/
@@oldskoolbiker thanks so much!
Would you ever sell?
I'd be open to offers. Had the car since new and might be ready for a change.
Hope you have a baffled oil pan since you like to track it.
Yes it has a Killer B baffled oil pan.
Clip on wheel weights on those beautiful wheels? Come on man!
The brakes are so big the stick on weights hit the caliper. So I have to do clip on weights.
If you ever sell this, I want it!
I might be willing to let it go, but I'm not actively trying to sell.
What’s 0/60
Never really measured it, but safe estimate is under 4 seconds.
