Hope you had a good thanksgiving John and I held my breath for those firefighters and i really hope the injured recover quickly. Well done to FDNY for getting on top of the fire so quickly. Fire is always awful any time. But, it seems so much worse during the holidays! I hope the 10-45s are not too severe and all will make a speedy recovery. I can’t express how disgusting that pile of garbage appeared! Thoughtless idiots, IMHO! It almost seems deliberate. How do you not see a hydrant!? Hope you, Skyler, and all had a great feast! Fabulous coverage of a very dangerous situation. Thanks as always. 🦃❤️🔥🚒❤️🔥🦃

YOUR WELCOME AND THANKS SO MUCH STEVE.....
Just goes for all the fire videos you have recorded you've done a great job getting footage all these fires that I have watched on your site now seeing that garbage all piled up around the fire hydrant would make me think arson someone wanted a delay.
WELL, I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE REASONS WAS BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER BURIED THE HYDRANT WITH ALL THE GARBAGE THE WAY THEY DID.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Great catch be safe
Great video!
THANKS SO MUCH.....
Wow, that was intense.
Can i ask silly question? On the fifth floor a face keeps appearing in the window, could this be an occupant?
Stay safe my lovely
WELL, MAYBE BUT I DID NOT SEE IT.....AT WHAT POINT IN THE VIDEO AND I CAN CHECK.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
JJ I hope
You had a great thanksgiving. Fire takes no holiday!
YES I DID AND I HOPE YOU DID TOO.....AND YOUR RIGHT FIRE DOES NOT TAKE A HOLIDAY JIM.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
John, happy belated Thanksgiving. You were busy though. From cool Daytona, 62°😂
HAPPY BELATED THANKSGIVING AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH AS WELL.....
fantastic video coverage as always... your fan from Cleveland Ohio
Great video FDNY put a fast putdown on this fire --- Debbie
YES AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
When you rolled up I was confused by the fire on the 4th floor then a few seconds later a member said over the radio that it was just the window frame. Must have been some debris from above that landed on the air conditioner. Tough break with the broken hose. They likely would have had it knocked down quite quickly but instead, that fire had time to really get cooking. At 8:19 it looks like the inside of a blast furnace!!! Always quality videos. Thank you.
YES, YOU ARE RIGHT ON ALL YOUR POINTS.....THE 4TH FLOOR FRAMED WAS BURING TO DEBRIS INDEED.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Great video, bless the occupants who lost the homes.. hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
I FEEL BAD TOO AND THANKSGIVING WAS GREAT.....HOPE YOURS WAS TOO MARK AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Hats off to the first responders, they never seem to get a chance to rest and relax👍👍👍🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚔🚑
I AGREE AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Happy thanksgiving squad 99
Thank you John. Yes, that trash left covering the hydrant is awful.
Great job everyone.
DAMN.. Prayers to the residents of 430.. JJ. Propers to you.. Salute to the FDNY 👏👏
I AGREE AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Ts&Ps for all the 10-45. Great recovery on the broken hose. They kept it out of the walls. JJ right place right time. You still have dry feet. 🚒👍🚒👍
First Rate job FDNY 👍 love the falling Air Conditioner..Also thats awful with those trash bags around a fire hydrant.. Your video shows the dumbness in blocking a hydrant and there was a fire 🔥 ...All the time and energy wasted moving trash bags....
Very nice! Cheers
THANKS SO MUCH.....
Is that an air con that just burst into flame 2 floors down???? respect again for not showing the victims, great video and grat job by the FDNY... Stay safe Pal
YES, DEBRIS FROM THE FIRE ABPVE DROPPED DOWN AND MADE THE AIRCONDITIONER AND WINDOW FRAME CATCH FIRE ON THE 4TH FLOOR.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Great video as usual. It was quite chaotic for a while. but improved with a new line being brought up. My heart was in my throat when I heard Mayday. What is an Iron man? Never heard that phrase before. Thankfully he was found quickly. So sorry for those who have lost everything. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
Original line was fixed and was able to do what it was meant to do
An FDNY Truck Company is staffed by 5 firefighters and 1 Company Officer (Lt. or a Capt.). Each firefighter is assigned a position at roll call. The positions are: Can, Irons, Outside Vent, Roof, Chauffer.
The Can and the Irons, along with the Officer, comprise the the team that approaches the fire area (or areas above the fire) via the interior. The Irons man carries the forcible entry tools and along with the Can man comprises the Forcible Entry Team. The Can refers to the 2 1/2 gallon pressurized water extinguisher.
Thank you for the info. I was aware of the Can man and the others except the Iron man.
Nice job with that camera
THANKS SO VERY MUCH.....
Nice job bro… felt like I was the BC…👍🏻
SUPER COOL AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
I could almost feel that air conditioner slamming down on me head first as I watched it plummet down to the sidewalk. Made me gasp for breath... Thank God nobody was under the path of that thing as gravity took it straight to the pavement.
YES, THAT WAS FALLING ALL THE WAY DOWN LIKE THAT AND I AGREE WITH YOU WHOLE HEARTEDLY.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
SIMPLY THE WORLDS BEST...F.D.N.Y.
Great jib, FDNZy. When Imsee RAC-3, it makes me very happ-py.
VERY COOL THEN ALEX.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
@themajestirium1 where did you get so many radios?
America 🇺🇸 Flag Didn’t Burn 🔥 Amen 🙏
thanks one last question I wanted to ask is how come they don’t have 7alarm fire respond in Chicago the highest alarm 8 special alarm they only use that when they’re block’s of house’s or factory are big and they can’t get a handle on it brad
If I am correct FDNY will go as high as a 5th alarm if that’s the question after that they will add units to the box as needed
Amazing that people would cover a water hydrant with trash. I always remember a quotation from the old comic strip character Pogo Possum in situations like this. "We have met the enemy and he is us.".
I AGREE DAVID.....IT WAS TOTALLY UNBELEIVABLE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
AMAZING FDNY AMAZING
(As is your great reporting!)
YES THEY ARE THE BEST AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS TOWARDS ME JEAN.....
There haven't been tons of fires lately. But I absolutely KNEW I count count on a big, Thanksgiving Day inner city one. Guaranteed; never fails.
YES INDEED AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Speedy recovery to the injuries!
THANKS SO MUCH.....
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 You're welcome
that fire was nuts I’ve never seen it like that before what is a 1045
It’s code for civilian injury. 1045 (1-4) 1 being dead 2 life threatening injury 3 non life threatening injury and 4 meaning non serious/ambulatory. They don’t alwaYs gIve the 1-4 designatIon.
I've always wanted to ask...what do they mean when they say "the fire is doubtful"...Thanks
Doubtful will hold with present assignment. Incident may go to higher alarm. Dispatchers need this info to fill relocations & assign companies to other alarms that may come in I believe.
WELL, THAT THE FIRE IS NOT UNDER CONTROL AND CAN GO EITHER WAY.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Is there a Purple Heart like equivalent for FDNY personnel injured in the line of duty?
THEY HAVE MEDALS OF ALL KINDS BUT I AM NOT SURE HOW THAT ALL WORKS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
I noticed there was fire on the 4th floor too, how did that happen?
It looks like an ember came down and caught on the air conditioning unit?
👍👍👍👍
THANKS SO MUCH.....
You got to this one quick, JJ! May I suggest that especially on Early Arrival videos, some of us want to see smoke. Wherever it’s coming out. It gives us many clues. May I suggest that you check out “Reading The Smoke” with Chief Phil. Smoke is fuel. Reading the smoke is an important part of firefighting. As always, you coverage of incidents is awesome! Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Holidays! 😁
What smoke did you not see ??? Coverage was perfect stop with the nonsense.
@@jimfitz1432 to clarify, often videos such as this, focus on the flames for most of the video. In this video, as JJ is panning to the flames, you can catch a short glimpse of some smoke puffing from a window with an A/C on the 4th floor, I believe. But it’s mostly flames and he even said that he wanted to focus on flames. That’s great, but to my point, where smoke is and isn’t, is also important. That’s why I suggest watching “Reading The Smoke” videos.
If there is only fire (and smoke) blowing out of 2 windows, then that is all that he will see. Stop with the nonsense. 😬🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🙄
@@CPR12345 the nonsense? Perhaps you may want to learn about smoke and what it means. Fire is the big attraction, but reading the smoke is just as, if not more important than watching fire.
@@ccc530 I know all about reading the smoke.
But comprehension of reading words is not your strong suit, is it? 😬🙄I literally said…if there is smoke only blowing out of 2 windows…like we see in the video…that is all that he will see. He cannot see all 4 sides of the building at the same time; and it’s often difficult to get to the rear of the building…where, there may not be anything to see, anyway.
His camera cannot magically make smoke come out of other windows. 🤦🏻♂️
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
So Sad for the People's to lost their Rooms so short for Christmas Time
I AGREE MATT.....;o( THANKS SO MUCH.....
HERO'S AMERICA FDNY PDNY ONLY 🇺🇸
YES INDEED CHARLANE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
My only recommendation is to show us some of the apparatus at the job! Is Ladder 14 a 100’ tower?
95 foota. Harlems tower of power
95FT.....
Hate to see things like that on turkey day hope everyone is safe
Thans. CZcams for the. films and CZcams comment. Greetinks from Holland NEDERLAND
I hate when the window a/c's just hanging in the window,, especially when stretching under it
YES, VERY DANGEROUS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
It just boggles my mind that the city allows that super to get away with something like that. That is completely unacceptable. Thank you for showing some of the unacceptable man-made conditions these men and women have to fight just to do their jobs.
YOU ARE VERY WELCOME AND RIGHT.....VERY DISTURBING THAT THE SUPER DID THAT.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Why , Why aren't they putting water into these vents? Captain wow, where ever the fire is blasting out feed it with water, easier said then done , But hey ho it's down to the situation, But great vid to the unfortunate people
Can anyone professional help me understand why they didnt use the hose on the tower ladder to get a quick knockdown on the visible fire?
That wayer pressure would tear that apartment to pieces. Way too much water and massive pressure while people still
In the bldg would cause way more problems
WELL, WHILE THEY HAVE FIREFIGHTERS AND CIVILIANS STILL IN THE BUILDING IT WOULD BE IMMPOSSIBLE AND VERY DANGEROUS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Building Sup needs to go to jail for 7 days minimum for all the trash covering the hydrant…. Who’s the dumba$$ that would do something like that? Plus a $1,500 fine! That’s totally unacceptable!😡😡😡
There da R.A.C. at #3 ready to go
YUP.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
People just don't care anymore..or think it just not going to happen to them.
I AGREE AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
I'm surprised the fire seemed to stay in one unit
YES, MOST OF THE TIME THAT IS THE CASE THANKFULLY.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
WHAT could burn with that intensity in an apartment?
Question…I always notice at these apartment fires that it can take upwards of 10 minutes to get water on the fire but there’s a ladder truck right outside the window doing nothing. Why not charge it and at least get some water on it while you’re waiting for an interior attack? Just curious
Don’t want to push the heat and smoke into the building. Spread the fire , heat and smoke throughout the floor.
@@Anthony-vc9dt nope...that theory has been debunked for years. Air entrainment with a fog nozzle, sure it's possible...it is the concept that makes hydraulic ventilation work. But using a straight stream, though...different story. One can accomplish a lot of knock down of the fire from the exterior with a straight stream (especially if banked off the ceiling to scatter the water to absorb heat and cool down the fire compartment) while the interior crews get set up to carry out extinguishment with handlines. That is the concept of a transitional attack. So the OP is correct...just not sure why FDNY doesn't do it.
Not knocking the work FDNY does, but it does raise some good questions for discussion.
There isnt just “some” water. Its massive water and and kill people if they bet hit and cause collapses
@@LakeAudybucket is for making rescues not initial fire attack . Outside ops or a surround and drown is when the bldg is a loss and everyone is out of bldg then they just pound the bldg with 1000s of gallons of water
I certainly see your point. But allow me to run this by you....
The idea is for the first two arriving Engine Companies to pair together and get a handline inside the building as quickly as possible, position it between the fire and *any endangered occupants* _as well as also protecting the primary means of egress, _ namely *the public stairway.* In a fire such as this a second line would either back up the first, or more likely go to the floor above. Simultaneously, the first two Truck Companies take an interior and exterior approach to the building.
In a building like this one, the first Truck is responsible for the fire floor and the second Truck has the floor above. The floor above the fire can be a very tenuous position as members are operating above the fire. Since the Truck Companies are operating inside the building in order to force entry and conduct search & rescue on the fire floor AND to the floor ABOVE the fire floor, it is imperative that these members have the protection of a charged hose line in position INSIDE the building.
While there is certainly merit to the concept of applying water from the exterior in some situations, Tower Ladders do not have pumps and need to be supplied by an Engine Company. So doing is time consuming and requires personnel. In the scenario I described above, personnel from 4 Engine Companies are utilized to get 2 hose lines in place. I'd also point out that supplying a Tower Ladder It also ties up a pumper. The FDNY "discourages" that a pumper that supplies a large caliber stream also supply an interior hose line. Streets are narrow and the next pumper may be 250 feet away. The supply hose is 3 1/2". Getting the TL stream in operation takes time.
Tower Ladders are not viewed by the FDNY as the primary means of extinguishment in an occupied multiple dwelling in which fire personnel will be operating, so they are not initially positioned for exterior stream use. They are positioned for access and egress as well as for ventilation purposes. When a TL stream is put to use in other than a vacant building, it is generally viewed that the building has been "given up."
Again, I hear your point.
I live there
Great job JJ
That fire should have been out when that tower was in place. Unreal...
Sounds like you've gained a lot of personal experience in exterior firefighting operations... even in fully occupied multiple dwellings.
Whats up with people saying use the tower ladder to pound the apt with massive pressure and 1000s of gallons of water!!! It would destroy the whole bldg
@@jlover911 That's correct. One Tower Ladder can easily deliver 1,000 GMP. Each gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds. Therefore a TL stream is placing 8,340 pounds OR over 4 TONS of water each minute into an occupied building. That's a lot of weight and combined with the demolition effect from the nozzle pressure, it's probably not always the best approach when civilians and/or firefighters are inside the building.
However, I'm inclined to think that nevertheless it may be THE go-to tactic initially employed by some Fire Departments in this country and Europe where they basically extinguish the fire from the exterior and "mop-up" from the interior. It's certainly a safer tactic for the firefighters, but I'm not entirely certain that it's safer for any trapped, non ambulatory or overcome civilians inside the building.
I see Brad is back in town, once again spewing his BS. Sorry where are you a Firefighter again?
@RetLtFF43 fdny is the only dept I know of that just let's that rip for 10-15 mins when the equipment to extinguish is in place...
Every minute that burns that hot is more heat, more smoke and more danger for the building and its occupants. There no way you can convince me that what they are doing makes sense.
