    Indoor propane tanks coupled with that level of clutter often indicates a drug operation. Seeing that reminds me of the neighborhood I grew up in. What I appreciate most about your channel is that there is no sensationalism or clickbait, just good, professional and respectful coverage. Thank you for that. ❤

    That's a good boy! Fun fact you can use at parties to impress people: Dalmatians are the Firehouse dogs because they are very calm around horses; and of course before trucks it was teams of horses that pulled the fire wagon and the dog would run alongside it! The goodest of boys.

    At 22:44, the spray bottle is for checking for propane leaks. Amateurs use soapy water, but NYFD probably has some superduper leak detector that costs a hundred dollars a gallon.

    There was an incident that happened in Minneapolis on new years eve while 44 was pres. The building was beside a mosc and it went boom. People were blown out Windows and ended on street with limbs mssng. When first responders arrived building was fully involved and people were climbing out Windows of 3 story. This never got investigated and natural gas was not at fault and gas would not have kinetic energy. It was shut down by the big guy even though it was tragic. First responders never seen anything like it and never made comments on how or why. I saved video

  • @lukenshazard127

    The LEL or Lower Explosive (flammable) limit of propane is 2.1 percent of propane in air in order for it to burn. 4% of the LEL would be about 0.08% so it would not burn at this concentration. When doing gas detection for welding jobs, OSHA would say don’t weld or do “hot work” if there is >10% LEL. Most places don’t allow any LEL since if there is some now, there could be more later.

    Great video once again John, and great stop by the FDNY! I just don’t understand why they purposely removed and destroyed the battery on that e-bike. Looking at the video it is quite obvious that it was not the cause of or was even involved in the fire. Heck the tires are still even inflated, so it didn’t even receive much heat. Now I do understand that e-bikes with Lithium-Ion batteries have been a great cause of many fires in NY City recently with substantial damage and even loss of life, but that’s not a reason to destroy it if it wasn’t involved. Lithium-Ion batteries are in about every cordless DC powered thing now days. I’d even bet that the gas sniffing device that the Fire Department used to check the propane tanks is probably powered by one.

  • @capicolaspicy
    @capicolaspicy Před dnem

    Using a scale to estimate volume of contents and a gas detection sniffer on the 2 propane tanks to check for any leakage... Good Lord what a production they make of taking the valves off of the propane tanks! Something we did for 30 years with one person in about 5 minutes or less. Screw a hose into the outlet of the tank open the hand knob listen to it vent if there was any pressure inside, put a socket on it and spin the valves out - it's really simple until you get 18 safety agencies having a say in it. Thousands of people all over the country if not the world are using propane tanks and camping type small cook stoves or propane heaters. Of course they are not supposed to be used indoors, but people do it anyway. Especially in HUD housing and projects where a lot of people can't afford the utilities. This is nothing new it's been going on for as long as I've been around the industry.

    Hi JJ, they are using a gas tracker. It beeps fast when it detects gas. But you are supposed to use tracker first, then spray. The tracker picks up the glycol in the spray. Scale is to see if there empty. You got the daily double, propane and e- bike.

  • @dalegaus276
    @dalegaus276 Před 2 dny

    So why did they remove the battery from the E-bike if it wasn’t part of the fire ? Was it burned ? Or they just didn’t want it to be used again? Or was it not UL approved? I know there issues with these bikes and scooters in NY . Great video!

    Those look like the same type of propane tanks that everyone here in Kenya (and other countries that mostly don't use electricity for cooking) Use for cooking. We have a portable 2 burner stove top hooked up to ours. Very common in countries other than the US, and some European countries. No one here uses electric stoves, in fact they are very hard to come by, because there is a monopoly by 1 power company that is way over priced. Many Kenyans don't even have propane based stovetops, but often use charcoal one burner stove tops outside to slow cook their beans, vegetables, ugali, and rice.

Here they have Army Regulation 140 barracks inspections and snoop inspections regularly by maintenance and the Orkin man when he does his monthly roach spraying. Fail one and you’re out. Propane is forbidden and all e-bikes must be kept outside. I’m waiting for the inspector to flip a coin on my rack. I think they stopped that. But we need to keep our billets spitshined.

    Another great catch John! Not all fires are huge, Hard telling what started this fire. It didn't look like the tanks or the e-bike did but there are a lot of reasons to have propane tanks, Heating or cooking or off site bbq cooking. Those tanks are not cheap, to go out and buy one is 50 or 90 dollars each but to have trade in's , it's about thirty dollars each, Some people turn them into air tanks or sell them for scrap or for Illegal use and or to weld copper pipes. We will just have to wait for the Fire Marshals findings. It's all very interesting to me! Thanks again for sharing your art with us! ben
