IKEA Kitchen Garbage Pull Out Installation

  • This video will guide you through the process of assembling and installing an IKEA Kitchen Garbage Pullout Drawer.
    NOTE: When preparing the bottom drawer DO NOT assemble the door front until you first assemble the brackets that hold the bottom and top drawer fronts, as shown at the 5:45 mark. Then you will assemble the mounting hardware over the brackets to mount the bottom drawer. In case you do assemble the bottom drawer front to the drawer before putting the bracket (like I did) you will find that you first need to remove the drawer front using a flat-head screwdriver as I show did in the video providing clear instructions on how to remove the drawer front (you can see this at the 4:41 mark).
    Otherwise the assembly and installation is quite simple and can be done by a single person without assistance. You only need a Phillips-head Screwdrivers (an impact driver can help speed up your assembly but is not necessary).
    Good Luck with your assembly and installation.

    EXCELLENT video -- thank you! Before seeing it I looked exactly like the puzzled Ikea assembler on the first instruction page, scratching his head. The video enlightened everything.

    I'm glad you made this video. While it isn't exactly my cabinet, it did show what to do with the braces. My instructions were for a short drawer even though the kit was for a full sized bottom to top drawer, so I wasn't sure where the extra parts went.

    No ikea pull drawer has EVER gone in that easy! I’m 25 minutes in to just sliding the drawer on the rails and ready to break the drawer against the granite.

    Hi, thank you for showing this. I made the same mistake. But when you unlatched the door front, you retrieved that little hinge that needs to go on the rail. I can’t get it out of the side. It is that little latch that goes first on the rail.

    I just made this drawer today with the front connecting rails, but after I placed the drawer in the kabinet, the top front sticks out like 1cm to the front! Like it slopes forwards.
    I really dont know how to fix this 😫

    Hi,
    I am trying to do this with my ikea cabinet (a pull out trash drawer). The brackets you used to connect the front doors did not come with my Maximera drawers. I was curious whether you have a link for where I can get those brackets from?

    Great video, I wonder why they require 2 door fronts instead of 1 solid door.

    • @KrishnaBoppana
      @KrishnaBoppana Před rokem

      The designer said two door fronts tied together makes it look uniform along the cabinets, you can certainly do one door front.

    Nice video thank you! I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the two separate drawer fronts with one full-height front. For example, I was looking at a unit that is 400mm wide and I could potentially buy a full height panel for pull-out drawers instead of two drawer fronts...I have no experience with IKEA kitchen so I would welcome any feedback, thanks a lot!

      Hello and thank you for your comment. I haven't seen any full panel option either. I guess they pretty much standardize all the panels to the various sizes and then have the hardware to assemble panels together like in this case for the garbage pullout. Sorry but that' all I know. You may want to check directly with someone at your local IKEA to see if they can assist you with this. Vito Casola - FIX IT Yourself.!!

    It's a rubbish bin, but the metal upright brackets are unsightly. I spray painted mine white before assembly.

      @FIX-IT-Yourself  Před 2 lety

      Good idea. IKEA should consider coating them with some type of white plastic so you wouldn't have to paint them. Vito Casola - FIX IT Yourself.

      @FIX-IT-Yourself  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Antonio, I'm not familiar with the sink pull-out but I would guess it should be the same as other pullouts in the way they connect and disconnect from the slide rails. All my videos should show how the drawers are inserted and pulled away from the slide rails. Good Luck. Vito Casola - FIX IT Yourself.!!

      Hi. Thanks for your comment and sorry about this. Yeah, I just added a NOTE section in the comment now that hopefully others will read indicating that the drawer front should not be assembled to the rest of the drawer until the bracket that holds the two drawer fronts together (top and bottom) are laid down first and the hardware for mounting the drawer to the drawer fronts are installed over top of the bracket. Sorry about that. Vito Casola - FIX IT Yourself.!!

    Is it possible to install ikea drawers to your existing non ikea kitchen?

    • @FIX-IT-Yourself
      @FIX-IT-Yourself  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for your question. I don't see why not. Of course you would need to ensure the inside dimension of your non-ikea cabinet has a clear dimension that is at least that of an IKEA cabinet for the drawer you intend to install. Then you would need to ensure you can locate the drawer sliders exactly as the would be in the IKEA cabinet (which is made easy by the numerous pre-drilled holes already provided for in the IKEA cabinet made for the drawer you intend to install). If you don't have an IKEA cabinet made for the drawer then I'd recommend buying one cabinet for the drawer size you want to install and verifying all the dimensions (inside clearance and the location of holes for mounting the drawer sliders) and once you are done needing the cabinet you should be able to return it to IKEA for a full refund. Good Luck. Vito Casola - FIX IT Yourself.!!
