Thanks to all that made this a fantastic and historic (indoor at Tower) Clan Hannay gathering! Our first but sure not to be our last! Please donate toward Sorbie Tower restoration, to keep this effort alive and well.
This is so wonderful! I was last able to visit during the 2015 Gathering and seeing the changes on camera is overwhelming! I don't know when or how but I so hope to make it back to see it all in person. I live in W. Pennsylvania (USA) on a small portion of the of the 60 acres I grew up on. Thirty-five to forty years ago, as my late father and mother were making early plans for their future downsizing, they deeded a smaller portion off and registered it under the name of "Sorbie Estates". So, until I can return to the real Sorbie, I have to satisfy myself with that.
It's sad to see the state It's in ! Couldn't we all manage to contribute one piece of tapestry or create some wall hangings or some authentic appearance of furniture all getting together into it for stained glass windows (at the least windows) , with wrought iron to keep things out . Plant the gardens. Rebuild the other part of buildings as they were. So very many relatives are not even aware of Castle Sorbie's existence even more of our really breathtaking family history. The grandeur and import has been so minimalised in the little historical accounts that can be dug up. Do we realize at all what our Clan Hannay has survived ? Their is a purpose yet I believe !
