  • Sorbie Tower was built in 1550 by Alexander Hannay, but by 1748 it was abandoned. In 1965 the ruin was donated to the Clan Hannay/Hannah, Hanney/Hanna and is undergoing restoration. Nearby stands Sorbie Motte, the 12th century site of a wooden fort. The stone tower stands on raised ground and was once surrounded by marshes that afforded it some protection.
The Clans Murray, Kennedy and Stewart were often involved in raids against the castle. Nearby Sorbie Kirk holds the mausoleum of the Stewart family.
