    Great tutorial on making springs. Thank you. Do you rifle the barrels on these scale models? That would be interesting to see. Thanks again. JC

      I am converting a CNC rifling machine I made for rifling my 1/3 scale Kentucky rifles . When done I can custom rifle a full size or miniature 1911.
      I will do a video when complete but will be early next year.

      A CNC rifling machine.....WOW. Would have thought you'd have a manual rig to do that. You are a man of many talents. Can't wait to see it. Thanks.

    I can't find a price on one of these scale colts you make anywhere. Would you mind giving a price range? Thanks

    • @paulhamler8315
      @paulhamler8315  Před 7 lety +3

      Depending on options and level of engraving the the price range will vary. The plane Jane model is going to be between 2 and 3 thousand US. I know many will shudder at that price but years ago I stopped working for minimum wage. I am seeing my miniature tools resell for 8 to 10 times what I sold them for a few ears ago.

    • @shanek6582
      @shanek6582 Před 7 lety

      That sounds like a reasonable price to me, you've got a lot more time and work in these as Wilson combat or Les Baer has in theirs, and the ask more than you. They even buy their castings! Thanks a bunch Paul, I LOVE your videos and wish I knew you.

    How much would you charge to build one of these miniature 1911's for someone nothing fancy just a basic build

      sorry that project's history and I won't revisit it i've got to many other projects.

      @@paulhamler8315 well I like to collect miniature pistols so if you ever decide to sell any that you have or you decide to do another project let me know

    How do you heat treat the spring after it is formed?

    • @paulhamler8315
      @paulhamler8315  Před 7 lety +1

      I don't ,making springs on a round mandrill using music wire (spring tempered wire)there is no need for any post treating operation. If the spring geometry dictates stress reliving I use the manufactures recommended temperatures and procedures.

    I'd love to see a half scale Henry rifle that shoots .22 short. Seems like a natural project because the original was .44 rimfire. guess it would be classified as a pistol though.

    • @paulhamler8315
      @paulhamler8315  Před 7 lety

      Shane I have a model 94 Winchester that's 1/2 scale .It' made in Russia and is sweet. I've thought a brass frame Henry would be a good candidate for a miniature where one could really show off his or her engraving skills. I am currently working on a Colt 1903 and hope to engrave it with about 75% coverage.

    • @shanek6582
      @shanek6582 Před 7 lety

      Please please Paul, in a future video I'd love to see that rifle and the rest of your collection, including that 1903. You've got me fascinated with your miniatures. I've seen all your videos several times and it makes my day when you post a new one. Thanks.

      I have considered a show and tell video of my collection describing some of the challenges for each miniature build. This would be an ongoing series of videos, stay tuned I'll work it into the "to do" list.
