Piotr U. The heat shield was taken care on the dyno, it is just not in the clip. Just for reference the car lost around 10whp from heat soak without the shield, but the final whp results are with a heat shield. And on track just remove the driver headlamp for even more gains :D

There was already a lightweight flywheel -8kg installed from day 1 of the build, there are lighter ones, but the response was good enough so didn't bother with a lighter one.
@@agdwhite5421 Gearbox, Driveshaft, Diff. It is generally accepted that RWD cars have between 15-20% drivetrain loss, FWD 10-15% and AWD between 15-25%. The dyno measures wheel hp, the engine power is calculated by adding 15%-20% from your whp. The only way to know the real engine power is by pulling the engine out and measuring it at an engine dyno, which only the big manufacturers have in their factories. I also had an S50B30 Euro 286hp /not the US spec/ and it made 228 wheel hp, so I had a good comparison, also there are many more cars that go on the dyno and you can compare them to yours, for example a few healthy M52B28s with no mods, which should be around 190 hp at the crank, make between150-160 whp on the same dyno.

No we didn’t measure the distance between the piston and valve, but the piston still sits 2mm below deck, we shaved the head for higher compression. The cams are two inlet m50 cams reground to spec
Thats cool you basically made yourself an E36 M3 3.0. Though I'm wondering what the costs were? It might have been easier just to buy a 3.0 M3 to start with. But still a cool project.

hector hads You don’t need to change anything to fit the cams, you just need someone to time them properly because with two intake cams the factory timing tool won’t work
Man I am currently doing the same to my M50NV. Did you use the whole rotational assembly from M54 (pistons, cranskshaft, connecting rods)? What about injectors? It is very nice to see someone actually testing those numbers on the dyno. :D
Yes the whole rotating assembly is used. For stage 1 and 2 the stock M50B25 were enough, for stage 3 M52B28 injectors were used, but you may use M54B30 injectors as well
Hey, i ve got a similar set up but in stock engine. Actually the car is running bad, I'm gonna also make an alpha n teaser from e race software because the actual ecu is completely wrong. Here the set up Catcams 268/257 M3 3.0 injectors white one 250 cc Dbilas itb M3 3.2 headers with m3 exhaust ECU previously remap to run with ethanol injectors and exhaust. Results = 200 hp craps 💩 Actually the cars will get an e race software and alpha n tune, but I'm still chocked of this results even the tune is not adapt with the new parts properly. The guy who is doing the tune, tell me than m3 exhaust is a bad Idea from the stock because it is way to big 63 mm to 55 from stock one. What do you think about, should I stroke the engine and keep that m3 exhaust running or leave it for a smaller one ?
No such thing as too big, in my opinion back pressure is always bad, leave the m3 headers and exhaust, I gained a lot from increasing the compression ratio, but also my tuner is very good, if you want I can give you his contact and see if he can help from a distance

Колега, колко отне от главата, за да получиш такава компресия? Понеже съм с валове от 3.0 и всмукателен от м50 за изпускател (240 градуса 9.7 лифт) та колко може да се отнеме от главата, за да се получи висока компресия, без да има опастност за мотора, имаш ли представа? :)
С какъв колянов вал си и с какви бутала, при мен имаше недоход от 2мм на буталото до челото на блока. От главата отнехме 0,8мм и компресията стана 11 и малко, но ако караш по писти може и да духне гарнитура с тая степен, така че може да минеш и с по-тънка гарнитура просто и да ти дойде степента 10.5-10.8 зависи с каква глава си, бутала и т.н
Бутала от М50Б25ТУ, и от около 2,55мм недоход ще стане около 1,55мм недоход, все едно си челосал блока с 1мм, или си сложил гарнитура с 1мм по-тънка, но така всичко си ти остава фабрично и степента ще е над 11 ама тогава за предпочитане 100 октана че даже може и добавчици, че аз с мойта, духнах 2 гарнитури на писта обаче, след 10-тки обиколки пържене

All stock manual M54B30 usually makes 180hp, 200hp only with tune.

No we didn’t measure the distance between the piston and valve, but the piston still sits 2mm below deck, we shaved the head for higher compression.

How much was shaved off of the head? I've been gathering parts for my NV 525i & was thinking about shaving the head.
Nick Tuley 0.8mm, but you have too keep in mind that the M54B30 pistons sit 2mm below deck.
