We really just have one goal - to make your food life better. Ok that, and be entertained at the same time. And have you learn a few things along the way. So letâs make it 3 goals then.
If you only want the steps to make something, like those vids shot from above with no people, no conversation no nuthin - then we are absolutely not for you. But if you wanna a little fun while you learn, then this is the place.
Cooking doesnât have to be hard, it just has to be delicious.

THANK YOU âïž - ZĂĄbava
This series would be great: going through your mother's cookbookđđŸ
As a spin-off series.
Absofriggenlootley!!!!!!!!
Excellent suggestion!
Awesome idea đ
A thousand times yes!
Has anyone noticed really good old recipes have very few ingredients? That looks wonderful.
Gotta make the most outta the little we had
@@rivitril5440 I agree. I learned this from a g-ma that lived with 2 babies during the depression, 1 was my mother.
One of my favorite cookies uses 6 ingredients. Almond flour, egg white, powder sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. The powder sugar goes in the cookies and also mixed with the lemon juice to become the icing. The yolks and lemon zest are then used for shortbread cookies, nothing goes to waste.
My grandma grew up in Nazi Germany. She never taught me her recipes, she only showed my sister, but I have her recipe cards.
@@heruhcanedean a new series should include old recipes from around everywhere. I love new, old recipes. They never disappoint you.
Sam I hope you read this. Love your shiw.
Thatâs because most old recipes were based also the being frugal, feeding larger families but the way the food was prepared usually in a cast iron pan and taking the time to create flavor using less ingredientsâŠ
Will be trying this recipe. My sweet 94 yr old MIL passed away last year. Nobody wanted her hand written recipe books either, I took them itâs a little piece of her. Makes me happy she was a sweetheart.
Thatâs awesome!!!!!!!
This makes me want to start a recipe book, even though a lot of them are recipes i stole from sam or the like, i do tend to change things and who knows, maybe someone will want mine someday.
Awww, I knew the second you started talking about a secret ingredient it was going to be frozen lemonade...because my mom did the same! RIP all the lemonade lemon chicken mamas out there! Miss you and your amazing grub!đ„șâ€â€â€â€â€
I have a similar story. I asked my mother for her famous cake recipe. the one everyone raved about. And she handed me the Betty Crocker cookbook off the shelf and gave me the page number. Momns were awesome.
As much work as it may be creating these videos, we (your audience) enjoy hanging with you guys in your backyard cooking impossible cuts of prime meats, experimenting with outlandish recipes etc. I for one don't mind the repetitive stuff, the dicing of the onions, the pressing of the garlic etc. It's the banter between you guys we love, the creative edits, the joking around etc. Please don't cut out too much. Let's hang together and have a beverage and cook some amazing food! You guys are the best! Thanks!
Ditto!!
Like yo, I was binging the old hour longs just to go to sleep a few years ago. Just have fun yâall.
Absolutely! That was what drew my boyfriend and I in a few years ago. Good times! đ
Yes! I do love the banterâŠ
Hear here! Well spotted Mark!
The secret ingredient makes total sense. How quick of a prep with using the frozen lemonade. All about efficiency. She probably got that from a Better Homes and Garden magazine or the newspaper. Totally awesome.
We have made several of your recipes. We love lemon chicken so I went and got all the ingredients and made it this evening. It was a huge hit! I added some heat to ours and it was perfect! Your mama was brilliant!
God bless you all,I know you miss your mom and it was nice to make one of her recipes and share it with us all. I am sure you'll find more in that recipe box to share again
Lemon chicken is a classic for a reason. Great work Sam, Maxi and Chancey đ„°
I made this tonight and it turned out way better than I expected. The sweetness was surprisingly subtle
I'm about Max's age, and my grandma does a similar thing, except it's Apricot Chicken. Instead of a drink thing, she uses preserves. It's fantastic, and like you say, not nearly as sweet as you'd think! I love this kind of good ol' fashioned cookery.
I use apricot preserves on pork tenderloin. It's delicious.
Iâm going to make that with oranges and orange juice concentrate. Thanks for sharing Sam and thanks to Joy for writing down the recipe.
I was thinking the same thing. And adding some red pepper flakes or minced Birdseye chilies.
Just be careful that it doesnât burn. Oranges have more sugar content than lemons
@@joethepirate1 thanks for the advice. Maybe a 50/50 split orange juice and chicken broth?
Where is the recipe written?
@@lorijankowski3117 Samâs Mom, Joy wrote the recipe on a card and Sam has the card but changed a few things. What I do is watch the video, make a few notes and get to cooking. Since itâs going to be a few days before I can make this, Iâll watch the video again to make sure I have what I need.
Loved seeing this.
Reminds me when I was a kid in the early/mid 70s watching my Mom make dinner every night.
I know many of her recipes "in her head" are the ones she probably learned from her own Mom.
The simplicity and use of incorporating other everyday kitchen staples made the best meals
Love from beautiful San Diego đđŽđ
made this today loved it .thanks for the video
I appreciate when you repeat yourself, because it helps me remember. Thank you!
Perhaps your next book would be " my moms recipes" I love those old recipes it reminds me of my mother who brought up 10 kids and could make a good meal out of cheap ingredients to keep us going through the rationing period of the second world war.
I tried this recipe out a few days ago and it turned out amazing! Thanks for the idea! My whole family loved it and now I have another way to cook bone-in chicken thighs!
And now your Mom has a living legacy in everyone who tries this because of you. :D
Love that you kept your momâs recipes. My parents had six kids and they both passed away within the last 2 years and I was the only one that wanted my momâs recipes.
Way back in the old days, OJ and other frozen juices came in much smaller cans. Iâm thinking that the can you used might have been to big. The Lemon chicken looked fabulous. I would love to see many more of your Moms recipes !!
Yes~ Great point! Now that you say it, I remember that the lemonade and orange juice concentrates were in much smaller containers.đ
Iâm glad YOU got all of your Momâs recipes, Sam!
I love those weird unique recipes our family makes we don't see anywhere else. Reminds me of my dad's burritos with a mixture of refried beans, breakfast sausage, and Velveeta. (don't knock it unless you try it)
I treasure my grandmother's recipes. She passed away 38 years ago. I made a cookbook with her recipes and gave them to my brothers and sisters that next Christmas. We all treasure it đ
Definitely making this on my winter vacation.
Mom was a genius. đ
Iâm not sure if they still make them, but she might have used a smaller can of frozen lemonadeâŠwhich was about 1/2 the size; and might have made it less lemon-forward, and a little sweeter if you added the same amount of brown sugar. Possibly closer to Chinese lemon chicken
I think you are right and I think I have recently seen smaller can sizes still available.
Thank you for sharing momâs recipe! She will live on through so many families including my own. Love and Aloha to her!
Thank you for sharing your motherâs recipe with us! This looks delicious! Iâm trying this recipe out with my family.
I love using OJ concentrate to make orange chicken with a lot of spice. Apple juice concentrate makes a good pork glaze, too.
looks great, never would have thought of the condensed lemonade...perfect..thank you
I love orange chicken but honestly can't say I've had lemon chicken. I definitely want to try it now đ
I think it would be a snap to make orange chicken using frozen orangeade
What a wonderful thing to do making your Mom's recipe and loving the memory of her. It brought a tear to my eye. Love you guys.
PLEASE...more of "Mom's Recipes"!! That looks delicious, and so simple. Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays everyone!
OMG, finally!!! A lemon chicken that actually tastes like lemons! I've tried so many other recipes and this one absolutely blows them away. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Made this on the weekend. It was awesome. Thanks Joy!!
You ALWAYS keep momma's recipe box! ALWAYS!!!â€ïž edit: I'd love to see your take on "chicken gloria" another throwback recipe! Love ya, Sam and the Boys! Props to your mom!
Thank you so much for doing this video/recipe. This reminded me so much of my own mom when she was alive and brought up food memories from her.
It has been decided, I will be making this on Christmas day.
Thank you Grandma Joy
Lemon-forward is absolutely perfect for me. Definitely gotta put the ingredients on this weekend's shopping list
RIP Sam's mommy! Dude I CANNOT wait to make this! Happy Holidays guys
Watched sam in a munchies state of mind and ordered multiple knives for myself and my family. I hope theyâre good Sam!
This could be a great Friday seriesâŠRecipes by my Mom, For YOUR Momâ
This is a great thing to keep these old recipes in the world for everyone to enjoy. I hope you do many more of your moms recipes.
I decided to make this 3 days before Xmas, prior to record setting cold Temps.
So yeah, there was no lemonade at the store. So I made "orange chicken" with orange juice concentrate. Everything else the same.
It was plenty good man! Served with steamed rice with my own seasoning, eggrolls from the Asian market. Great meal on a very cold day!
I made this for my parents and wife for Christmas dinner. They all loved it. Nailed it again Sam....
Sam, I'm sorry for your loss. Grandma Joy sounds wonderful--I'd love for you to make more of her recipes!! What a quirky, fun idea! Thank you for sharing her with us. â€
Love the simplicity of this recipe! I may try it with frzn orange concentrate, as well!
Super quick and easy. Taste amazing.
Looks delicious. Will definitely be making this.
I love this guy's personality. He's hilarious. The food looks really good too.
Excellent I will make this because I love anything LEMON!
That looks amazing!! Itâs a must try for me. â
Genius! Lemonade Concentrate,. Im gonna try this.
This looks amazing. Iâm going to try to make this for my family. Thank you for sharing the recipe
Totally trying this! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for another simple one
Our momâs recipes means the world . Thank you for sharing precious memories. I will certainly give it a try.
Made this Christmas afternoon for the family dinner. It was super quick to make and best of all it turned out delicious! We enjoyed it over rice.
That looks delish!
VIncent Price was a magnificent cook, and in his first cookbook he featured a recipe called "Chicken Sweet and Hot." Very similar to this, although not as citrus-forward.
Well done SM, Joy would be so proud that her legacy lives on!
This butter/oil fry technique would be a great way to make smothered chicken
Following every episode. I migrated to a different country and now i miss my mom's food! Im working on creating my own collection of recipies from your episodes. This one is defo going to be added! Keep it up guys.
Definitely saving this one to my cooking playlist. Looked so good
I'll be making this Sunday.
Thank you Sam's Mom.
I wanted to say thank you to you and your mom. I made this recipe last night for my family and they loved it! It has now been added to our family cookbook!
Looks delicious I'll try it and let you know. Thank you
I definitely gotta try this
Thanks for te Recipe! It was great!!!!!
Looks real good.
Definitely going to make some.
Bless your mama for the inspiration
How awesome you did your Momâs recipe in honor of her and it looks amazing đ
Iâm looking through my weekly grocery ads and I see every store has a ribeye roast on sale, no idea what to do with them. Would love a video of either multiple things to do with a ribeye roast or just a good recipe
Thank you for the great recipe! I canât wait to make it!
im making this Saturday. thanks for the idea
The frozen lemonade ⊠inspired! Thx to your Mom đ
Iâve made this twice nowâŠonce with lemonade concentrate and once with orange juice concentrate. Both times fabulous!
Sam's description was accurate. It tasted like a lemon-forward sweet & sour sauce. Next time I'll go with a bit more vinegar for extra tang.
Sounds delicious! I can't wait to try this recipe! đ
Love this recipe... Always brings back great memories! đ
I wrote that recipe down.
That's grandma!
12-19-22
I made the dish.
I crowded the thighs. Stick to 5.
It's missing one ingredient or else it would be old school hole in the wall Chinese lemon chicken.
Probably some bell pepper or pea pods or water chestnuts...
I'll try it again next yr.
Dude looks awesome! Totally going to honor Grandma Joy's Lemon Chicken for my family!! We love the Lemon Chicken at the chinese restaurants!
gotta love the recipe boxes!!! still use mine, my mom's and my grandma's
That chicken sounds and looks awesome! Making this for sure! Thank you đ
I enjoy all of your videos. This one is the best! Thank you!

Love this!! I'm so here for grandmas recipes! Also can you do some different pressed sanwiches, panini I guess. And maybe a brunch spread.
Ok so I made this last night and I have to say it was very good. A bit too sweet. I'd use maybe 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. There is a lot of sugar in the lemonade.
Simply amazing recipe
Love this! Thank you for sharing with us, Sam and Fam!
Mom's cooking is always the best
Butter will burn when it reaches 302f whether it is by itself or mixed with oil. Even if you mix with a high smoke point oil like peanut or avocado, the butter will still burn at the same temperature of 302F which is about medium on a stove top.
Hell ya I'm making this thx Sam. I have my mom's receipt box and books. They are special to me she was a wonderful lady
Looks fantastic, inspirational!
I love this idea ! My grandma was the heart of our family . She also left my mom her recipes !
I'm going to make this. Thank you Grandma.
I need to try this!
*THIS LOOKS INSANELY GOOD!* đ„
Looks delicious and will give this a go and a big salute to your mum!
I'll be giving this one a try for sure!!!!
