    Just so people know , lychees take about 7 years before you will get fruit and that depends n your areas climate , these grow well in tropical areas , cold areas may not do well at all , great projects but they do take time before you see any fruits come on your trees.

    I have some lychee plants that must be about 4 or 5 months old now. Fresh lychees are not super easy to find where i live so i was happy to get my hands on some. I had almost 100 percent germination rate. The biggest plant is about 15 centimeters or so. I havent repotted them yet, they would probably be bigger if i did.

    Hello Nordic Plant Lover!!! I am Dr Param Singh from India, where Litchie/Lychee is quite native!!!
    Good to see both your videos on the Lychee growing from seed, and the progress to the 9 month/one year stage!!!
    I do want to see the present stage of both your plants. This is the waning part of the lychee season for this year, and have picked up some lychees for attempting my own experiment.
    What I've been told is that lychee from seed will take a somewhat longer time to reach maturity level to give fruit, whereas if one were to graft a shoot (the guys never mention from where to pick up the shoot - from an already growing tree, or graft one seedling's healthy branch on to another seedling!!) on to another growing stump, the growth and yield is healthier...
    Also, my question to you, and to myself (being inexperienced), is: lychees are usually a fairly large tree, like the mango. So why are we growing them in pots? Anyway, if you know that they'll grow equally well in a pot (also for mangoes), please do inform (and guide).
    Will a bonsai work better or differently?
    How do you make a bonsai!!!!😃

      I have watched videos on CZcams and seen that Lychee trees grown from large pots 25 gallons or also bare fruits as well. The main thing with that you have to give supplements/minerals every so often and keep pruning it.

Do you have any experience with ivy? Anyways thanks to you, I‘ll probably also have to try some lychee-seeds, even though I already have around 60 cuttings and small pots in my apartment - thanks, plant lover! 😅😂😂 all the best to you bro and keep spreading that plant love!🤙🌱❤

      @@paramdsingh7265 Hello Dr Param Singh, thanks for your interest. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to plant lychee seeds because I realized that where I live (in Switzerland) fresh lychees can only be found until the end of march in supermarkets. So this experiment will have to wait until next year. ;) But some of the mangos and avocados I planted in pots already started to grow very nicely. :) The reason I (and probably also NPL) can plant these seeds only in pots is the climate I live in. During Winter it would be too cold for the plants outdoors so at least at that time I have to keep the indoors. Greetings and all the best from Switzerland 👍😊

      Yes, I was a bit surprised NPL and you experimenting with lychees, mangoes at your altitude(s)!! NPL being even further North!!! But you do have controlled interiors, I know, so growing these plans indoors would be the right thing to do supplementing sunlight with grow lights and room warmers. I hope your plants grow up healthy when you experiment next year!! I hope they produce fruit too in days to come - that's one reason I was thinking of raising them up as bonsai plants. Lychee and mango are huge trees, and will require larger pots eventually... All the best. I'm in the process of doing some experiments with lychee and mango, so will share with you both if I do achieve anything to share!!! :)

    My question is my litchi trees are still small, i grew them from seed and i noticed in this video that the tips of the leaves are a brownish colour but only the tips.. Whats the reason for this, is there a shortage of nutrients.. Im from south africa.. Any advice?

    • @NordicPlantLover
      @NordicPlantLover  Před 9 měsíci

      I think it can be many reasons, but I notice they dry out really easy if I forget to water them a bit. I dont know much about lychees nutrient needs. I just make sure to repot regularly.

    In January I started 5 Lychee seeds with the wet paper towel method and all of them put out roots, but after I planted them in soil, only 2 developed. Now, one of them is 10 cm tall and the other is about 17 cm tall. I'm excited for them to grow more and get a woody trunk.

      I planted this about a month and a half ago. Total 4-5 seeds rooted and started leaves. I have 2 left only. 3 dried off and died. This one also has stopped producing more leaves. I started these seeds in store bought high drainage soil but a few days back moved them to garden soil. Hope this survives the change of soil. Why are the leaves drying off? Any idea? Mine stayed inside uptil now and just moved out a few days back
