    Protip, fit the product with 3m double sided tape, then while it’s on there drill your holes. Then remove the lip, remove the tape, and seat it flush with the screws.

    • @TurboKitchen
      @TurboKitchen  Před rokem +1

      That works as well. I personally didn't use the tape because I take the lip off for winter. Alternatively you can also get a couple bolts in there as well. That will prevent lip from coming off for sure.

    • @san-qy5vs
      @san-qy5vs Před rokem +3

      Even better to keep the double sided tape in there along with screws so its a nice snug fit.

    • @TurboKitchen

      True. I have since properly bolted the lip on the car. So it's not going anywhere.

    Here’s my 2 cents. Although he is right about how to install. I put corner splitters on a Jetta a while back and those things will rip out of the plastic ( your bumper) at high speeds (100mph+).
    The best solution I found was putting a flat metal piece just wide enough to fit inside the inner lip of the bumper and using bolts to secure in place. After that they never pulled out again.

    • @TurboKitchen
      @TurboKitchen  Před 3 lety +2

    • @mitchdales123
      @mitchdales123 Před 3 lety +2

      If they're just corner splitters, that changes the whole game with the aerodynamics. So I wouldn't be surprised if they would need some extra reinforcing. Solid advice regardless though, if you're not using nuts and bolts I would always suggest extra reinforcement.

    Question for ya, my Avenger friends have splitters and have the rods that go into the bumper. They told me to get one but I don't think it's necessary as I got a lip and not a splitter. Rods aren't necessary correct for lips?

    • @TurboKitchen
      @TurboKitchen  Před 2 lety +1

      They are not necessary no. You can use rods if you wish but it's more for aesthetic look than actual functionality at that point. It won't hurt the lip to have a bit of extra support but as mentioned it is not necessary. Nobody wants to drill more holes then they need to into their car.

    • @vincevollmer1716
      @vincevollmer1716 Před 2 lety

      @jordanfasone3092 Před 2 lety

      It's actually for more structural integrity for downforce when at high speeds. But you really want to put the rods on the actual metal bumper behind the bumper cover. If you put it on the bumper cover, it will just in time, come out.

    Can i just use double sided tapes instead of drilling? or is the drilling the safest option?

    • @TurboKitchen
      @TurboKitchen  Před 3 lety +1

      You can use tape but drilling is safer long term. Less likely to fall off of you scrape it. Also drilling is easier of you are gonna take it on and off. I take mine off for winter.

      Thanks in advance

    • @TurboKitchen
      @TurboKitchen  Před 3 lety +1

      Double sided tape has 2 sticky sides. Typically the top layer is covered so you would stick one side to the lip then peel off the backing and stick lip to the car. Make sure its lined up first. Which OEM lip do you have?

    • @bathingtiger4925

    Could I just use 3m tape instead of screws?

    • @TurboKitchen
      @TurboKitchen  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes but it would be more likely to fall off. Plus if part comes off its hard to replace one section without taking whole lip off. With screws you can just replace or fix them quickly. It also depends where you live and how you use the car. I drive my car all year and through Canadian winter so I remove the lip to avoid ripping it off in snow.

    Don’t use self tapping screws, the vibrations will eventually weaken and/or loosen the thread/screw and it’ll come off. Other than that well done!

    • @NN13K0
      @NN13K0 Před rokem +2

      @@bilokenneth I would recommend using:
      10-32 x 3/4" Stainless Pan Phillips Machine Bolts
      10-32 Stainless Nylon Insert Locking Nuts
      1/4" x 3/4" Stainless Steel Fender Washers
      The reason I recomend these is due to the fact that self-taping screws can loosen over time. And by using the Nylon Locking Nuts, you can assure they won't come undone. Also, by using the Pan Phillips Machine Bolts, you are making sure you leave very minimul head room sticking out in the event you want to add a splitter down the road. If you use something with a big head on the end of it and install a splitter down the road, your splitter would be pressed up against all those heads, creating a gap. This way, that doesn't happen.
