- Crewe revisited from my video 12 years ago.
Including tour of yards and inside depot.and arrival of Flying Scotsman Plus 60009,71000,61264,49268,45112,D1023,27000,92134 in the works. Plus use of traversers to position locos - Auta a dopravní prostředky
My favourite version of Flying Scotsman.. There's something about the LNER apple green livery on the A3 version of Scotsman!
A wonderful collection of clips Mike, and as you say a sight that is unlikely to be seen again....Regards...Bob
A superb video Mike . Brilliant coverage of what goes on hind the scenes in the yard. We agree that the Flying Scotsman may never be seen there again C&A
A couple of years later, the rails where most of the exhibits stood were sold for scrap, so Open Days were no more.
Most of it now been bulldozed and a housing estate, Real shame, Great memories of my 27 years of working there, good video
At least we were there; and I kept my original tapes too...thanks for watching
lovely coillection,big stuff.
Flying Scotsman had a whistle by its smoke deflector, and its not the horrible screenching whistle it has now??? :O wow
Things were right 13 years ago!..Thanks for watching my memories...............Mike
Flying scotsman looks better without smoke deflectors
Quite agree, thanks for watching; it was a good day out for me too.
What’s happened to the works?
Majority of the works is currently being pulled down to build yet more houses. This will never happen again. Crewe works only do Boggies and wheel sets
Criminal. Why we can't make our own locos and rolling stock is beyond me.
Crewe lad born and bred
They’ve shit on it to build more houses because developers are king and despite Crewe’s heritage, they still rip it down! Thing is I’m not sure where they are all working to buy these houses. I really enjoyed my time working there
Andy Spencer it is the same country wide, all the works have gone, classic engineering lost forever,, Crewe, Swindon, Doncaster, derby, Stratford, now all distant memory
Whether or not it happens again is not the point The point is those that love the steam locomotive are dying off ,so if none of the younger generation take an interest then steam preversation as it is ,is doomed
