- I've lived in Trani, Italy for over a month now, and I've been trying to think of ways I can get to know it better given the circumstances of the pandemic. Lucky for me, my friends Abbey Cook and Lish Steiling, of The Taste Curators, came to the rescue!

THE CHALLENGE? A Color Scavenger Hunt! This is something that Abbey does a lot in her work as a trend forecast (she also calls this challenge a Walkabout Safari), and her partner in awesomeness, Lish, comes up with a delicious Italian dish inspired by what I find on my scavenger hunt around Trani.

Hi there, friends! My name is Katie and I'm a video journalist & food enthusiast. On this channel I make videos about life and delicious things. I post every week, and of course, I #keepitquirky :) - Jak na to + styl
I live in Trani since i was Born and i have never found so much beauty around the city. Thanks for this point of view. Good job 👍
Hi! You're lucky to have been born in such a gorgeous city. Thanks for watching the video, and I'm so happy you liked it! :) :)
Complimenti, sei bravissima. Complimenti davvero. Chapeau
I'm from Trani, I've always had a sort of hate/love relationship with my home (like many of us do) but it was nice to see an outside prospective of my town, kind of refreshing.
I'm so glad!! (And yes, I think it's a completely normal thing to have a love/hate relationship with where you're from! I know what you mean). From my perspective, this is a wonderful place to be :) :) :)
That was so fun! I can’t wait to do this in our pueblo pequeño!
This was a very good exercise. I loved it! I am an Italian living abroad and sometimes I noticed something that locals did not connect just for habits, but usually connections I make are about odd things and habits and then when I report them it often sound like a joke. Example: I said that the "Jig-Saw sound is the soundtrack Slovak Weekends ". Slovakian love to hear that. They love to to be recognized as a population of bricoleurs(bricolage). They feel somewhat proud.
Loved this and completely agree with your friends/cohorts. Great tips for exploring and great video. (And yes, I can tell now your Italian has gotten better), keep having fun exploring!
Yay, so glad you enjoyed the video and my walkabout in Trani :) It really did open my eyes in such cool ways. (And grazie -- my Italian is indeed improving -- but still so much further to go! It's so fun, though; one of my favorite things about being here).
Great video, plus all the tips and tricks from your friends. Fabulous.
Glad you enjoyed it! I've had SO much fun making this video, and I'm really looking at my new city totally different now!
Very fun and different perspective! Love it Trani is on my list of potential places to live.
Thanks for watching!
Ooh, I loved this. I'm very big on looking for textures and colours when out and about. Your pasta recipe made me very hungry.
WOW! I'm from Trani and the first footage of the video is where i actually live.
I cannot believe it! Trani is just a small city of 60.000 people and watching it on youtube filmed by a foreign that is just moving in really makes my day! hope can see you around in my beutiful little city :D
Hi! I'm so glad it made you smile. You're city is so beautiful and full of such rich history; I'm thrilled to be here! I hope we run into each other here!!
Thank you,see you around then :)
@@TheQKatie If you need help don't esitate to ask me i'm willing to give help like my friend Fabio did in the Pandoro video ; )
I love this exercise. I'm going to do it here in Rome and see what I can find (just as soon as term finishes!!!)
I was overwhelmed by emotions watching this video of the land where I was born. Thanks your point of view I discovered all those colours and shapes matching in details which I never noticed before.
Thank you so much.
👍👍
Yay! We had so much fun making this with you! Thanks for playing along with the scavenger hunt and of course cooking afterwards :)
I can report that I'm still seeing things in my new home that I guarantee I would have missed before. And of course, eating delicious things inspired by it. Thank you two for helping me see my city in the best way!
Ciao Katie! "Quirky" is a really hard one to translate to Italian because the concept is somewhat foreign to Italians. I'm Italian-American, born and raised in Florence, Tuscany, and as far as I understand "quirky" means: strange, unusual, non-conventional... all in a good way!
Culturally, many Italians still have some catching up to do on the concept of different=good, but they're on their way :)
That said, I think the closest translations are either "strambo" or "strampalato", so maybe "rimanete strambi".
Hope this was helpful!
This is really great insight! Grazie!
What a lovely ancient place
A truly pleasant video! Amazing!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Grazie!
This is so cool, Katie!
I'm so glad you think so, too!! I absolutely loved doing this video :) And now my eyes can't stop noticing details all over the place!! :) :)
Amazing! I get all the pictures now in your stories!! I guess it’s true we eat with our eyes!!
Yesss!! Haha the saying is most definitely true! :) Love that!
Complimenti per l'italiano, e grazie per aver messo i sottotitoli in italiano/inglese
Grazie per la visione!
this video is fantastic
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It was such fun to make. Thanks for watching!
That’s a very clever take on beauty
Good job
Nice one! Now I understand why you've been obsessing over balconies all week ;)
Haha! Now you know :)
Mozzafiato...
Big like saluti da Bari 👍
Hey qKatie, just wanted to ask you...what about a reaction video to Barese dialect someday?
mazza come 6 bella !!♥️
This is my favourite pasta recipe with anchovy: press some peel almond (mandorle pelate) in grain,, in a pan add olive oil anchovies, capers, one spoon of ortolina and boiling water from pasta, no salt usually necessary, no other flavours. It should become a bit creamy when the water is vaporized up and this is the time to stop flame below the pan
I use spaghetti de cecco or voiello
Best type of anchovies comes from Sciacca, sicily, usually those are sold in a big tin can or a big glass
Oh wow -- grazie! Thank you for all these tips; I'm going to get Sciacca anchovies, asap...and will try making this dish! (Does it have a name, or is it just something you made up?) Also -- ortolina passata or ortolina concentrato?
@@TheQKatie concentrato. Ortolina + anchovies spaghetti is a dish that my wife loved during pregnancy, lately she added almonds and capers and created this fantastic recipe that caused my last 2kg fat during pandemic 😅
You need to come to Bologna
Adoro Bologna!
Benvenuta a Trani - Wellcome to Trani.....(^___^)
Grazie!! Sono molto contenta di essere qui!
Damn, that's a cool video! I like your perspective.
I'm from Trani, but have lived in a few places abroad. If you're bored and want to grab a coffee one time to talk about our experiences living abroad, hit me up :)
Io.
It's so hot to hear you speak Italian. 😶😶😶
