My God, cordless phones were HUMONGOUS back in 1990. It's as big as my laptop

This episode was co-written by Phil Rosenthal--the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond.

@littlekid1990 The tv movie was the pilot, and as often the case when the show gets picked up for a series, characters get recast or eliminated.

De Niro seduces Lewis in the Cape Fear remaking playing Mitchum's character who is here, Lewis's grandfather. That's incest, somehow.

I used to think Juliette Lewis was hott back then. She had that dippy girl next door vibe going on. The kind that lived next door, but wasn't too bright and was open to experimenting.

Barry Gordon seems to be playing a role similar to his role on Fish here. I recognize David Lascher pre-Blossom here too.

Roger sounds like he did voice work for a lot of cartoons.

Haha, I knew Roger sounded familiar...He was played by Barry Gordon, who voiced Donatello from the original "TMNT" show!!

Phil Rosenthal wrote about this show in his book, "You're Lucky Your Funny". He thought this program was finished as soon as Mitchum was seen in an apron doing household chores, emasculating his character. (Rosenthal used a more graphic term for this.)

I listened to the audio book version and I remember that! He said the show only lasted seven episodes, and to hear him talk about it makes me think it had potential. Truth be told, I enjoyed this episode and the line, "Do you want me to make a call or open your garage door?" got a chuckle out of me.

I'm pretty disappointed that they turned this into a canned laughter sitcom.

Loved the 1990 film. This tv series doesn't match up to the film.
