Robert Mitchum's Final Film
Here's a clip from Pakten aka The Sunset Boys aka Waiting For Sunset. Mitchum's final film that was only released in Europe. Three doctors (Mitchum, Cliff Robertson, Erland Josephson) do everything they can to help fulfill the final wish of their dying friend (Espen Skjønberg) as in the pact these men made in honor of their dead friend Martin Kemp. In the process secrets are revealed that have been hidden for decades. A film that has humor, drama, and heart.

Robert Mitchum Sings Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral

Over in Killarney Many years ago, My Mother sang this song to me In tones so soft and low. Just a simple little ditty, In her good old Irish way, And l'd give the world if she could sing This song to me this day. "Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Too-ra-loo-ra-li, Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, hush now, don't you cry Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Too-ra-loo-ra-li, Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, that's an Irish lullaby."

Idk of course but just as an opinion I believe that if an actor or actress isn’t really very savy and shred about their career and able to hold their own with directors - they could be run over and made to do things they feel is not what they want . I sure don’t know what makes me have this observation except some things I have heard other stars say . Marilyn was a very talented triple threat as they say - could act comedy or drama - could sing very well or like a sex kitten and she could do dance routines . I loved her in River of no Return but I love her in everything !! She was beautiful !!! I feel sorry that her personal desire to be a mother was never fulfilled and my opinion that was a failure that took away her joy and self worth . Only she can tell what destroyed her . I only know that her movies show such a gorgeous young woman with a sweet voice of an Angel !!! She made her Mark and is Famous and her movies endure !! Thank you Marilyn Monroe . Thank You Robert Mitchum for all your fine acting and your great voice also !!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

That was quite possibly the best insight into her i have ever heard. Clearly, Robert thought she was wonderful, as we all did. He knew her well enough to not only see her as she really was as well as the public persona she gave to the world, but also as Marilyn saw herself. Marilyn in 3 person. Spoken about with much heart and kindness. ❤

Robert Mitchum's insightful reflections on his late colleague Marilyn Monroe are very touching. He was brimful of empathy, understanding and admiration for her. It takes a sensitive, talented person to know one. Instantly he saw past the 'Dumb Blonde', starlet stereotype, to the heart and soul of the human being within. A lovely man, and like Marilyn, a true star. What a stark contrast this interview is, to the mean and snarky comments Sir Lawrence Olivier made on camera about Monroe, dismissing her as 'a model, not an actress'. He never got over the fact Marilyn Monroe was recognised as a global icon after her death - a rare status he would never achieve in his lifetime or beyond it, despite his lofty reputation as an actor, (mostly in Britain, where he was knighted for his work). I suspect he was also much-miffed that the world's hottest blonde was totally immune to his charms when they made 'The Prince and the Showgirl' together! The whole experience of working with Monroe, which Olivier had such high hopes of both professionally and personally, was a crushing disappointment to him, bordering on humiliation. She possessed a powerful star quality - the camera loved her. Inevitably, she acted him off the screen and stole every scene, reducing Olivier to supporting cast in a British-made movie he had nurtured like a baby for the glittering prizes he mistakenly assumed it would bring him. Even 20 years later, his anger at Marilyn was obvious - and frankly unsettling - during a TV interview which can be found on CZcams. The way he coldly dismissed her as though she were just another forgettable blonde sex symbol, was actually pretty venomous. The polar opposite of the respectful way Robert Mitchum remembered her here. Olivier may have been named the finest actor of his generation, but he was certainly no gentleman. I don't believe he was a patch on the great Robert Mitchum - as an actor or as a human being.

The fact that Norma Jeane's husband Jim Dougherty was friend's with a classy guy like Robert Mitchum when they were factory workers says it all. Norma Jeane should have stayed with Jim, the only good husband she had who did not abuse her and treated her like a queen.

The Oscars are a joke. Louise Fletcher said that she used her Oscar as a door stopper. I think Mitchum would have done something similar had he won. He had a great career and will always be remembered for his great acting chops.

Robert Mitchum, one of my favourites the way he talks about Marilyn Munroe with her certain traits. It reminds me of the similarities with Diana Princess of Wales. Of course, they eventually played a certain game. They were vulnerable, sensitive, but perhaps they crossed the wrong people and they were both taken out, whether they connect with the Kennedys or Diana with the royal family and the English establishment?🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧

Not wishing to detract from Mitchum's high assessment of Lean - wasn't there another British man (in the role of director though famous for his acting) - one "Charles Laughton" - who secured a very powerful performance from Mitchum in "Night of the Hunter" - and "directorially" - gave us one of the finest movies (the said "Night of the Hunter") of the 1950s ???

These actors are great but do you know who is greater? Jesus. He is selfless and loving. He died for everyone's sins, past, present, and future. Be careful when watching these films. We mustn't make these people our idols. Exodus 20:3-5 says "You must not have any other god but me. You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens on earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods." Not only that, but the end times are here. 2 Timothy 4:1-5 states "You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. People will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!" This is merely to inform people, not to attack them. God bless.
