THANK YOU FOR YOUR INFORMATIVE VIDEO. I built a 10/22 myself from a stainless steel one. I got a Tactical Solutions X-ring fluted light weight stainless barrel to match the reciever (tight fit), had a little trouble getting everything lined up. I polished the bolt and the inside of the reciever for smooth function. I got a Volquartsen trigger assembly and a Houge thumbhole tactical stock. I put a inexpensive high-powered scope from Walmart that is not bad for the price. (6-24X-40) Took it to the range to check out FUNCTION and some sighting in the scope. I tried to check ACCURACY but I didn't have a PROPER REST (moved around too much) to get super tight groups but still 10shot one hole at 75' (indoor range limit). Then I purchased a VERY NICE already built 10/22 with some NICER parts that I didn't get to keep cost down whereas I couldn't pass up the DEAL on this other 10/22. It had a Tactical Innovation Elite 22 receiver, Ruger brushed stainless steel hammer forged barrel, some fancy aftermarket bolt and other related parts and a Magpul Hunter stock. All I had to do is mount a scope (another Walmart high powered one). I checked function and accuracy but ran into the same problem as with the other one (too much movement).😯😳😞😮💨. I'm anxious to see how they REALLY DO AGAINST EACH OTHER. My build is lighter because of the light weight barrel 1lb. where as the other is 3lbs. So I'm thinking to have it to be my field rifle and the other be a BENCH RIFLE because of its weight. Let you know what they are able to do ACCURACY wise later.🤗😁👍

Nice build. I built 3x 10/22s from Dlask Receiver. 2x DAS22 and recently 1xTUF22 which can accept TUF22 25 round magazines LEGALLY. Dlask Arms products are second to none. Thumbs up.
Matt, I wanted to say thank you for the info in your video about the auto bolt release. I did not know this item was made. I ordered one last week and received today. This will be a big help to my girls when the shoot NRL22 Matches. Thank you!

Looks like it will be a fun build. Dlask makes good stuff as I have a custom build from them and am very happy. One thing I had to do however is loc-tite the charging handle knob so it wouldn't come loose.
Good tip, I did notice it was secured by a screw, I’ll definitely put some loctite on that!

I have a 10/22 I bought back in 2001 that I don't really touch. It's an OEM Ruger receiver with a Volquartsen 18.5" barrel with drilled compensator holes in a Bell and Carlson Anschutz style stock. I think it's just an OEM trigger with the Volquartsen kit (it's been awhile...). It shoots decently, but I probably need to get a different stock. I really wish the 10/22 used two action screws instead of one. I had to put bedding material, especially in the rear, to keep it from rocking in the stock. I was looking at the McMillan A5-22. Not sure I want to dump more money into this thing, though. Kind of just want to build on an aftermarket receiver if I get the McMillan.
Ya, to me the 10/22 is not a precision oriented platform (although it can be built and used as such). The Ruger Custom Shop Competition 10/22 has a top indexed barrel and additional rear action screw for better bedding. I may look into one of those for the X22 series if this one doesn’t perform up to my standards. I’ll turn this thing into a fun gun, especially since the Grey Birch Foundations chassis I’m waiting on seems to be more geared towards lightweight than anything else. I agree with you, it’s hard to justify pouring money into a basic 10/22, full custom is more interesting.
The 10/22 in a Victor Titan stock can be very accurate (the aluminum bedding block seems to make a massive difference). I reliably get 0.35" groups at 50 yards with mine. That's not bolt action great, but it's good enough for most NRL22 applications.

Have you tried any of the higher end drop in trigger packs from Kidd, Volquartsen or Timney? I’m trying to decide if I should skip the Ruger BX trigger and go straight to the good stuff.
Since this video, I've acquired a Kidd 2 stage and can assure you it's well worth the money if it's within your budget. The BX is a good upgrade from the factory trigger pack, but can't be compared to the Kidd.

What is it about your build that would not make it compliant with the rules or stages of the CRPS X-22 Challenge Series? Is it that the barrel length would not lend itself to the longer range stages? Not enough built in elevation on the receiver for the the longer range stages? Thank you for your time.
Not so much that it isn't compliant, but maybe not ideal. I'd prefer a longer barrel for long-range precision stuff, it would also balance the rifle better with the forward weight. And some cant built into the scope base would be nice to save elevation adjustment in the scope.

Have you ever got a barrel by Green Mountain? If so what's the title of the video? If not, should try a 16" M4 style barrel by GM and fire it at 50yds.

one question, Dlask has a 25 rounds mag for their TUF22 rifle, will that work on your TUF22 Receiver? I thought the receiver and mag has to match. My real question is, can I just replace my ruger factory receiver with this TUF22 receiver so that I can use the 25 rounds mag? Thanks
That is what I understand, you just need the dlask receiver to run their mags.

Is the X22 series you mention the same as NRL22X or is it something different?
Different series, the X22 is part of the Canadian CRPS and has elements of PRS, silhouette, bench rest, and steel challenge.

I recall an interview with the Vudoo guys saying that 16" was the minimum length to get full velocity, which seems like it might matter for your application.

Yeah, this setup is going to go through some testing before I decide whether to make changes for the X22 series. I'll definitely be getting velocity data as part of that decision. I hear differing opinions what barrel length is "optimal" for 22, but I believe there are many factors that doesn't allow there to be a single correct answer. For example, if this barrel turns out to be plenty accurate with good velocity, I wouldn't bother swapping for something longer. Cheers!
