Conion C-100F Boombox Bluetooth Mod

- The original condition of this C-100F Boombox was not very good. The dual tape deck was not working at all. Tape 1 was frozen with the play head stuck on the play position, and the cassette door and buttons were stuck as well. Cracks around tape 2 show that the front case may have been hit. Barely any sound was coming from the left woofer. When I checked inside, the rubber parts on the edge of the speaker cone were melted away. This one had probably been put in a 100F degree attic for many years. On the other hand, the radio sounded fine.
After around 50 hours of work, the repair was finished and it finally started to sound great.

NOTE: The missing cassette face and the cassette tray were both created with a 3D printer. One of my fellow boombox collectors "Pedro" created it from scratch. He tried many times in order to find the correct size. Creating the tray seemed especially difficult. If you need any missing parts for your precious boombox, he may be able to help you. Aaargh! We had this beast back in the 80's. I can't believe we got rid of it. We didn't have any house alarm back then, so we'd set it by the door sometimes. The alarm was ear piercing,

Wow! This takes me back! I saw these for sale back in 1998. Music/electronics place I used to check for odds and ends. The one they had on sale was almost identical except for being black. Can't exactly recall the price now but I think it was somewhere around $300+. Big sticker on front proclaiming that it had Short Wave.
I always wondered who actually designed and built it. Lot of thought went into this. Even down to a flywheel for smooth tuning, like a good stereo system tuner.
I wondered how much the thing would weigh with batteries in it. (Expected more than it looks to have used.)
Fantastic job you did on this. Right down to exact woofer replacements. It is a real museum piece these days. Wonder how many are still out there...

Amazing vid once again Teddy!. Never saw one up close. I had all JVCs (550, 838, M70, M90) this looks like M90 size?. Wish we had replacement speakers & stronger dial lighting in my day. So many mishaps!.
I hated the logic cont on the M80, very slow.
It is bigger and heavier than M90. But your M90 also has a great sound. Thank you for the comment!

I also had trouble unscrewing the three screws that secure the flywheel metal plate in the cassette recorder of my PANASONIC RS-257AS stereo.
When it happened, you want to have many size of the screw drivers that just fit for the screw. Do not want to use not macing size of it, otherwise you will brake the groove.
I saw the bidding for this one on Goodwill's site. $1,126.00!!!!! It's a great boombox but damn!

I'm having issues with my conion c-100f cassette mechanism not moving properly. What do you use to lubricant it?
I've been looking for this same one for years and only found two and they were both in another country so the shipping was insane, sure would like to find one in the US.

There is a market for these Retro boom boxes. Why are Samsung, Sony, JBL, or other companies not making these, update them with bluetooth and todays tech? Many of us who grew up in the 80s want these but can't find any decent at good prices. The companies could make a fortune on these😔.

I'm working on the same boombox but the motor on the deck 2 doesn't work original motor is EG-500AD-2B 12V DC (2400) CCW, I found a replacement EG-530AD-2B 12V DC (2400) CCW do you think it will work just the same or the 530AD is it much a difference? I appreciate any info, anyway keep up the awesome work! THANKS!

I always put everything back together with original parts for my client unless they asked me to upgrade the parts.

The vintage boombox can be found garage sales, estate sales, and online seller like ebay. I am not sure the Amazon has vintage boombox over there. I hope you will be able to find your own boombox.
