- A forewarning: this is a 2 hours long video.
In the first part of the video, you will find how I removed buzzing noise related with cassette deck, next you will find how I restored the broken tape door #2, and lastly you will find how I solved "tapes were eaten by cassette deck #1" problem.
At the end of the day, the problems were all cleared and the DISCOLITE started sounding great again.

When a cassette tape is eaten by a player, is often a deffective slipping-clutch which is havn't enought torque, the way to fix it, is to change the deffective clutch if is available, or the whole tape mechanism if mechanism spare parts are not provided. When refurbishing a tape mechanism, change : all belts and pinch-roller too ! Clean the capstan with alchool... Then the mechanism is now ready to play tapes again.

You are correct; belts should be replaced if worn or stretched and rollers should also be changed if they are shiny, hard, cracked or pitted. I recently did that for a Sony CFS-W600 twin cassette boombox which had worn belts and pitted rollers - now it plays tapes beautifully (speed alignment and head azimuth were also done). I also re-tuned the FM stereo circuit because the LED indicator kept flickering on a strong station.

That was the coolest thing I ever seen that man deserves an award but I will never buy one of those boombox even now that that one the shit meaning it came out great but like three times watching the video if it was me with all the troubles it gave him I would of taken a sleg hammer to it so all the props to that man

If you are talking about LEDs light in the original Discolite system, then I think it is not difficult to do so. Only thing you want to check is find same value of LEDs for the replacement.

昔カセットドアのスロースピード化をするのに羽の回転で空気抵抗を使っているのがありましたが見ないですね。
ご視聴いただき、感謝いたします。羽の回転による空気抵抗でドアをスローオープンにする。すごいアイディアですね。そしてそれを実現したというのがまた凄い。８０年代あたりの日本製のラジカセの造りを見ていると細部に至るまでよくデザインされていること、また造りがとてもよくできていることにいつも感動します。

私は、昔SONYの大ファンでした。
中学生の時にお年玉など全財産を使いCF-1980(モノラルラジカセ)とキャリングケース、マイクを買いました。
近所の電器店で定価42800円(本体のみ)でした。
まだディスカウント店などなくて定価が当たり前の時代でした。
SONY専門店だったからかどうかわかりませんが、無料のバスツアーで品川区の工場見学にも行きSONYのノベルティグッズも沢山もらいました。
しかしラジカセは、故障が多く修理ばかりで保証機関の一年のうち使ったのは数ヶ月でした。
数年して高校生になりオーディオに手を出します。
SONYのデッキもグリーンモーターやBSLモーターなど新商品を出します。
後になって考えるとモーターの技術が弱かっただけみたいです。
他のメーカーでそんなアピールする会社はありませんでしたから。
90年代に入り憧れのオーディオメーカーTEACに転職しました。
しかしその頃は、オーディオは衰退して岩手県で細々とやっている程度でした。
入社した時にオーディオ部門を希望しましたが、実情を聞きHDD(ハードディスク)部門の技術にしました。
まだCD-ROMを作る前です。
ちょうどこの頃コカ・コーラのキャンペーン用の防水ラジカセを作っていたようです。
なぜ一流大学の出身でもないのに採用されたか？
後になって聞いたら経歴や持っている資格が変わっていたからみたいです。
面接の時は、ジーパンに革ジャンとブーツでしたが。
今なら確実に不採用です。
そしてSONYの実情を聞く事になりました。
製品の七割以上が宣伝費らしいです。
道理で壊れるはずの無い半導体とかが普通に壊れる安物でした。
ハンディカムが壊れた同僚は、メチャクチャ怒っていました。
でわTEACは、どうだったのかと先輩に聞くと宣伝費10％もあれば良い方だと言われました。
たまたまオープンリールデッキが売れたけど民生品は、得意では無いようです。
皮肉な事に私が在職している時に5inchのフロッピードライブが世界一の生産数となり記念品を全社員が貰いました。
想い出の話しでした。
読みながらまるで歴史の本を読んでいるような感じになりました。音楽大好き少年だったんですね。ソニーといえば高性能、そして新技術などそのような印象がありますが、宣伝費の割合の高さがそんなに大きいとはびっくりしました。昔からモーターの性能の良さといえばHITACHIというのが私の感じるところです。TEACのオープンリールは今でもアメリカでは誰もが欲しい逸品です。性能およびデザイン、どちらも他に並ぶものなしという感じです。私はSONYのオープンリールをいろいろと分解して中の様子を調べてみたり、調整したりしてみましたがTEACはまだ触っていません。いずれ手に入ったら使ってみようと思っています。フロッピーディスクを生産されていたんですね。懐かしい。いまでもTEACのフロッピーディスクドライブは売り買いされているようですね。それも結構高額で。たくさんの情報ありがとうございました。

It's sounds really clear !!
I did not check the detail info about it and it is already in the owner's hand now. This Discolite used 4 ohm speakers instead of 8 ohm, that means a little power will drive the loud sound easily. I think that's is the one of the reason you hear the clear sound.

You can follow the pulley most likely you will figure it out, that's what I do. Or you can join the forum and ask members about it. There could be a answer from them. I already returned this to the owner so I can not check it by my eyes right now.

When the power is on even switch is off, then your cassette deck is in either play mode or other function such as FF or REW and stopped there. You need to clear the cassette deck problem and power switch problem will be solved usually.
