    My friend’s aunt used to live in Los Angeles in the early 80s when she was a teenager. One afternoon she fell off her bike and sprained her ankle. She hitched a ride home (it was normal back then). A man stopped for her. He happened to be Walter Matthau. He stopped at a local drug store, ran in to buy her bandages, stopped at a pay phone to call her parents to tell them what happened. Talked to her on the ride home about everyday things like school, family, travel, food, friends, etc. Made sure she got in the house ok and walked her bike up to the porch. Didn’t gloat about his status once. A lot of celebrities are jerks but it’s a nice story to hear.

    Nicest celebrity I have ever met was Paul Newman. He was staying at a resort I was working at, many years ago, so I saw him fairly frequently out and about over a few weeks. Friendly, kind, classy, and very funny. He didn't act like he thought he was anything special, he was much more interested in other people than himself. Total class.

      The older I get and the more I watch his movies, the more I appreciate him. Loyal and faithful to his wife, the eldest member of the 80s rat pack and gave it his all in his performances. Some of his movies came to be because so many other people passed on it or didn't think it was going to work, like Ghost or Dirty Dancing. Road House was his best performance in my opinion, especially when he has to pull the dagger out of his partner/friend Sam Elliot body as he was left dead on the bartop and the intense expressions on his face of anger and grief as he knows he has to avenge him. In Three Wishes, the ending really suckered punched me emotionally and made me start crying and wasn't expecting that. That is why I am never going to pick up smoking, if it wasn't for his heavy smoking habit, he would have easily been with us 20 years longer as he was quite the athletic dancer

    Absolutely true about Lucille Ball. In 1972, as an airline passenger service agent for a major airline at O'Hare Field, I checked "her" in at the gate with her manager and I had to direct all my questions to her through the assistant. "Will Miss Ball prefer a smoking seat, today?" and "Would Miss Ball prefer the window or aisle?" All the while, "Miss Ball" stood staring at me like I was an indentured servant and never once responded to me in any way. I've never liked "I Love Lucy" episodes since.

    I met Charlie Sheen - I was introduced to him as a friend of a friend of his. Although I was actually sort of impressed about meeting the guy (I don't normally hang with celebrities), I was not expecting a whole lot of nice. But Sheen had in fact met my seriously drug-addled brother a few months earlier, and when he found out I was that guy's brother, he got up, grabbed both my hands and said - with more heartfelt sincerity than I was expecting - "oh my god. But there had to be some physical attraction because they had two kids. She had medium brown hair and thought red hair would set her apart from all the other gals who wanted to be actresses in her era. I think her talent was not her lines, those were written for her, but her facial expressions, with that clownishly painted face, the lipstick oddly outlining her lips, was almost comedic in itself! But she was driven and when the chance came for her to be a studio executive and producer, along with her husband, she jumped on it, thus Desilu Productions. In the war-time '40's, people NEEDED something to laugh at, so "I Love Lucy" was a good candidate for that.

      Integrity has nothing to do with celebrity. I value integrity in much higher regard. Mr Jenkins extended himself to me arms engaged me in conversation.
      While I'm at it, although he never engaged me in conversation (albeit he spoke to me in kind motivating terms), we were very busy, the little things Harrison Ford did to include me were outside the realm of requirement, which made those scenes very special to me.
      I agree with your estimation of Keanu. I've witnessed him be kind live. It's unprofessional to approach another actor (especially if you have no lines) between scenes or during scene setups, as they may be concentrating on lines or actions, but occasionally an extra will risk getting thrown off a set to ask for a photo or autograph. During one day several women approached him and didn't get them in trouble but herded them aside to set that up during lunch and at the end of the day. He even asked the PAs and AD not to make a deal over it.
      I was in the final scene of a movie with him after a long all-nighter, he complimented me, gave me an abrazo (side hug while patting me on the back). It meant a great deal to me particularly because I kept thinking during the entire project that he was still likely despairing the loss of his daughter and the breakup he was going through. Given all that he was still able to dredge up incredible inner strength to push through all the pain with which he was dealing, but still took time to overlook that and to strengthen others.

    Gene Simmons is generally expected to be as an all around jerk, but that was not my experience when I ran into him at a steak restaurant in Texas. I'm not an autograph seeker, just a music fan. I approached him and he talked to me for at least five minutes. We had a very pleasant and casual conversation. I cut the conversation short because I do respect busy people's schedules. We took a photo together and he told me he had fun chatting it up. A firm handshake and we went our separate ways. He was very much a gentleman with me. (and no I'm not a hot girl)

    The three NICEST celebrities I met when living in New York;
    FRANK SINATRA. Ran into him 4 or 5 times and he always had a nice greeting. He actually imitated our first meeting at "21", coming over and shaking hands after I raised my glass to him. On another occasion, he introduced me to his wife, Barbara.
    CARY GRANT. Met him outside the Faberge building. We stepped back into the lobby so we, "...wouldn't start a riot". We chatted briefly and he gave me his autograph (which I later LOST!). He was everything you saw in the movies; gracious, charming and genuine.
    PHILLIP PINE. Okay, not a "celebrity", but you classic Star Trek fans know him as "Col. Green" in "The Savage Curtain". I recognized him at Sardi's one afternoon and introduced myself, telling him I enjoyed his work. We sat down for a drink and we chatted about early television. A very nice guy.

      Especially if you include the UK. As an innocent 19-year-old I worked as a receptionist in an upmarket London firm of chartered accountants. I was fired the day the "esteemed" actor Peter O'Toole walked in for an appointment and I asked him his name as was my job. Apparently, my failure to recognise a bad-tempered, middle-aged Shakespearean actor qualified as "insolence". He reported me to my boss and as he was a "valued client" I was fired on the spot. I really liked that job too. They had a few rock stars on their books that this 19-year-old would have recognised instantly if I'd lasted long enough to meet any of them! 🤣

      Peter O'Toole even treated his first wife badly. She left because she was subjected to mental cruelty in her marriage to Peter O'Toole. Alcohol and jealousy were also a reason.
      Was for a broken EGO just because he wasn't recognized. But the former boss wasn't any better.
      Whether you're a good client or not, as a boss you should be loyal to your employees. Simply because she enjoyed doing her work.

    Charlize Theron and Elton John should be on this list. I met both of them when I was a flight attendant for British Airways. Elton John was beyond rude, dispeakable, and downright condescending. He swore at literally everything and everyone including the fly on the window. One of my colleagues gave him some water after he asked for it and didn't mention that he wanted ice so my colleague brought the water without ice and omg Elton went off at him and spewed every racist cuss word you could ever think off. My colleague quit that day. I threw out every Elton john record I had and can't listen to any of his music. About a month later we had Charlize as a passenger and omg she was so rude when a fan asked for an autograph she went off at him and even called the pilot d*ckhead. Then she was on the phone just yelling and cussing at whoever was on the other end of the line. I quit too shortly that. It was then that I decided I never want to meet a famous person ever again.
