Can someone explain why Eddie didn't go for the long yellow at the top left of the table after he made the double into the centre in the first frame, the balls were there for the taking. I'm only asking as i am trying to learn the ins & outs of the game. Cheers.
Because of position i think mainly.
After the shot he played, If you notice the position of the white after the shot leaving the yellow over pocket, it looked as if he was gonna screw into the yellow next to the red or play in between the two yellows and off to cushions to come back around.
If that was the case, playing the long yellow would of been much harder to execute from that range apposed to the white being mid table
I could be completely wrong though, that's just my opinion
By playing the yellow along the bottom cushion he knew he was covering a pocket had he missed, had that one gone in, he had a fairly simple last 3 balls and with there being a large amount of room in the middle of the table he’d always be leaving a shot at the black
