People always talk of Efren but our generation has been blessed with Chris Melling's genius man...he deserves all the good things the pool world can offer
Buy far melings beats potts and micks
@@kylegulliver7340 I'm not sure the head to heads back that up. But then the break is so random who knows.
The difference is that melling can play efrens version of the game and beat him before... but efren can play this version...not any other version
@@gerhardvanderwalt3271 I'm sure Efren would be decent at English pool.
I love Chris Melling! He is a great role model for the sport
Chris's cue action is just perfect and he sees the patterns really quickly. Many thanks for these series of videos.
I'm never ever gonna miss this eight ball...! So solid.
Is amazing seeing such a difference in styles between this and Mick Hill. You've got Mick's methodical, inch perfect cue ball control never running out of position, then Chris's shotmaking ability and commanding the cue ball around the table to wherever he wants, it doesn't even matter if he runs out of position.
Flawless Vs Flashy. Love it.
Definitely yes. These videos are perfect for learning because they teach you that there is no fixed way, it's your game.
Cool name btw.
@@stuartculshaw5342 absolutely!
Phillips and Fin.
Amazing stuff hey, love it
He's one of the nices guys going. Top man
@ChrisMelling1 you are a legend mate, so glad I've had the pleasure of playing against you on many occasions. 5 break dishes and 2 golden breaks in one video and every shot "perfect" apparently 😂
Thank you Simon for getting these great players to coach us for free. What a channel.
I feel like I learned more in 30 min than I have in years
i played against chris back in the 90s when he was a kid . it was in osset for the county games . we knew then he was special .
Had the pleasure of having a coaching session with Chris a few weeks back and it was a marvelous experience
he's just a tad good
Just a tad haha
The Mick Hill tutorial was useful, but this one was way more beneficial I feel. Really like the way he thinks about the game and executes the pattern. Tremendous video.
Glad you enjoyed! More coming soon...
By far one of the most beneficial pool videos I have ever seen. thank you so very much Chris for taking the time to share your knowledge. Be Blessed.
Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed!
Fantastic stuff, so great to see the difference between Mick and Chris, both brilliant in different ways, Thank you !
What a treat this is getting into the head of the magician. Would love to see more videos like this. 👍👍
This is so useful thank you. Simon Webb's channel has taught me a lot of stuff I can practically bring to the table so this is perfect content. You can't know how much this is helping. .. er.. more!
Total total class. What a guy!!!
Just love the man ❤
Thank you so much Simon and Chirs Melling...
I was waiting for years to learn from players Like Chris Melling and Mick Hill.
If not everything I learnt atleast something from this Channel! Love from India
Thanks
Brilliant! Can't wait to apply these learnings
These type of videos are amazing!
Great video to watch. Brilliant stuff 👏
Amazing vid.. Well done guys! You are just growing from strength to strength!!! Keep it up. We appreciate and enjoy the hard work you guys put into this production!!!
Thank you so much for the great feedback!
I actually think Chris’s patterns combined with shot making is more accessible to me than Micks flawless positional play. Playing more in Chris’s style but without his exceptional potting ability I might be able to clear say 20-30% of the time. I know I simply wouldn’t be able to emulate MIcks play and have to rely on a bit of luck so down to 10 per cent.
Great content!!!
True master at work, great video
Great stuff…thanks 👍🏼
😁😁😁 Absolutely loving this content. You must of seen my last comment about having Mick on every week. Clearly he is busy so you have decided they can share the work. One week Mick and the next week Chris.🧐😉😁😁😁
Awesome keep up the great content. 👏👏
Exactly my thoughts. Mick Hill taught me a lot from the last two videos and I've already brought those lessons to the table. But now my head is filled with the genius of Chris. This is very good pool content.
Yeah, it'd be cool to see all the top players, Tom Cousins, Phill Harrison, Declan Brennan, Karl Boyes etc, as much to get to see their personalities as their pool.
If you want more pros, you'll get more pros!
I agree! Great format for a video! Its useful for American 8 ballerz too
Absolutely loved it!! Off to the cue club I go to practice what I’ve learned
This guy is hella smart. I cant believe how fast he sees the run out.
Class , can’t believe after all these years he still has the enthusiasm for the game.
This was so good!
Brilliant stuff 👍👍
What a great player. I can run out from time to time, but playing Chris would be something else, exceptional
I mean what can I say, the guy is a genius. And what a nice guy too. Thanks
Going thinner @ 6:44 I think Chris is compensating for the "Squeeze Effect". This is when playing a cut, you need to play thinner that the "Ghost Ball" method contact point, to compensate for object ball throw sending the object ball slightly more in the direction the cueball is travelling when the cue ball is approaching the object ball.
great stuff. Chris is a superstar.
Already a Legend!
Can we please get more long videos like this ❤… I learned a lot from this video 🔥🤞🏽
glad you liked it. more on the way.
Amazing video! very eye opening.. THANKS A LOT ))
Glad you enjoyed!
Great insight Chris. Hope to see you soon mate 👍
Nice vid Si!
I find it funny on the shots he sais "you shouldn't miss", like the last black when the white was on the cushion. I would miss that shot😂
This is next level instruction.
Cracking video again, loved the extended 3 frame walkthrough, who's next for the treatment? 😊
Excellent video
I’d love to see a detailed video on his stance set and stroke
Yes, I identify with this type of play so much. I learnt by potting ridiculous shots first, I was good at it. And then over the years I've toned it down and learnt good pace and cue control. I also have age-old hang-ups about my stance and line adjustments; but the fact that Chris Melling has just told me that it's all absoluelty fine is amazing.
same here. I would love to know how he maintains a perfect pendulum on every stroke. so consistent.
I could sit here all night watching this, Chris is such a great guy and makes it look so easy, it was a pleasure meeting you a couple of months ago at Gwynnes club Lincoln👌🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Boovie has told me to remind you of the time he 7 balled you in the good old Royal? He can remember the people cheering him on and it announced on the K2 tannoy. 😂👍
Best advise I've ever received in life end game first thought of motion
Someone that doesn't really know the game and watches this might easily end up thinking "this game is easy." No, it is not. Guys like Melling make this stuff look easy. But it really isn't. Great video, love to see and hear how Melling approaches runouts.
Just wow, his plans are good, but damn the technical execution is insane. That 2nd rack, the pace was mm perfect, the angle was cm perfect, every position was 'placed it with your hand' perfect.
That's why he's one of the greatest!
Another fantastic video
Thank you!
Great mind. Great video ✌️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nicely explained and demonstrated ,, Matchplay wise,, i am with Effren Reyes.
Man, these pros always end up with such better layouts than I get in actual games. I watch these videos thinking I've learnt something then I go play and my layouts are always like 4 balls on the rails and like 3 clusters to break up all in the same rack. It's ridiculous :\ Guess it's all due to the break. I don't remember playing a rack where I didn't have at least 3 balls glued to the long rails.
that second finish was special, I wouldn't have thought of most of those shots
This is SO exciting.
Great mindset from both melling and hill be interesting from a pros POV if a clearance doesn’t quite go to plan what their options would be next for instance blocking a pocket or a snooker/safety what mindset they have in blackball rules especially
Incredible
I play online 9 ball pool, and I'm going to use some of this great info to improve my game.
Potterns and pottins. Love it
Five dishes!!!!… made to look easy
Only 10 minutes in and this is brilliant content, very helpful stuff.
Thank you!
My idol he's the man
Beast!
Melling is a class act
He really is!
What a masterclass!
Absolutely brilliant Chris
But why is there no money in pool?
So many brilliant players but no money
Chris Melling this guy is the best player I ever seen on a pool table some of the run outs he made are just unbelievable
You must never have seen efren Reyes then ..
@@MrAstraldreamer i seen Reyes but 9 ball pockets are massive to be honest
Awesome stuff. it would be nice to hear Tom Cousins version of reading the patterns. Amazing player that as well.
Great suggestion!
The English Magician himself
Any new Masterclasses coming? These were great!
More will be landing very soon!
Exactly the type of video needed to learn strategy
I want to see Mick vs Chris now
What size is that pool table, 7 feet long?
I feel vindicated! When I take a shot; I line up, walk into the shot, aim, and then I adjust to hit the white a little bit thinner. The fact that Chris Melling, one of the greatest players ever to play the game does the same thing has absolutely made my day. I have been critisised for it and that has always stuck with me. Well no.. sod that.. now this video will stick with me... Nice one Chris.
[EDIT]... I have a lazy (rubbish) right eye. I wonder if Chris has the same? I've always thought that was the reason.
I doubt it's due to a vision problem, because if that were the case, it would probably be uneven, i.e. more prone to happen when shooting left vs shooting right. It's funny, I tend to miss shots too thin when I miss, almost never too thick.
@@dhirajpallin2572 Interesting
"I can leave shot that looks straight but I can make an angle that you'd think I was half ball". Can you do a demonstration of generating angle?
Melling is the english pool efren Reyes… both insane at kick shots
Could someone tell me what size is this table pleaser?
7foot!
Call them chiness with their table he will run away without even looking at the back 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There is good and bad in this video. The good part is that you know how to play patterns with no pressure. if you can process all 8 patterns in less than 30 seconds well good for you. The bad part is that this is a pro concept of playing patterns and that concept only take place in championships/tournaments/play for money. In these high-pressure conditions your more likely to make a mistake, your nerves are acting up, and your emotions are being challenged. It takes enormously hard work to suppress those elements that can affect you in high-pressure situations.
Is this an English pool table? What size is it and what size are the pockets?
yes. i think 6 x 3
Pool size? Pocket size?
Knew he would sack the carbon fibre junk.😂
I know Melling is a trillion times better than any chat pro but I don't see how changing the route at the 21 minute mark made it easier. He turned a simple shot using a natural angle for the next ball into the middle into 2 skillshots screwing back for the middle twice and got out of position twice from that point on. I wonder how Mick Hill would have done it from that point.
A straight screw shot is not a skill shot for a pro though, it's an absolutely stock standard shot. Sometimes it seems like they do more screw shots than not in a typical frame.
He aint met me yet.
2 smashing players . But Efran was the daddy .
This video has nothing to do with Efren. He is now running around the Philippines playing in minor tournaments. Melling is still playing at a very high level for the most part. Not everything is about Efren.
wtf is that cue sound? Sounds like the tip is so hard
Why is there a cloth covering the ball return?
It is placed on the table when racking up so as to prolong the lifespan of the felt in that busy area of the table...u know how people can drop the balls with force into the triangle
Ok. So like a break cloth for the cue ball but for the entire rack. Interesting. I just put new cloth on my table and I may try this using a piece of the old cloth. Thank you for your response.
why play without much side?
How good is this guy on a Snooker table, just asking?
Is that a 6ft table ?
It is a 7 Foot table
@@UltimatePool okay it looks very small in the video
Comment @ 9:07 will haunt him after the easiest of 8 balls missed in his match at the uk open 9 ball 🤪
I played Chris in Great Yarmouth about 25 years ago when I was 15/16 and beat him 3/2 and he was such a good loser and all them years as a kid from about 5 years old seem worth it for that day but then football and birds I stopped playing 18months later
He isnt fit to chalk effren's cue
Effren is the Goat.....end of conversation
And you must be a sad Filipino troll. This video has nothing to do with Efren. Efren is now running around the Philippines playing in low level tournaments and cracker jack pool halls. Melling is still relevant.
13:10 get your terminology right ya brit. It's called a carom. At least in pool that is.
The British often call it a cannon.
So boring.
28:41 - you committed a foul - the shirt sleeve touched the red ball
lol does Melliing and the host not understand cut-induced throw?
