  • Hey there! In this video I do a quick review of the CO Light LED Projector upgrade from Amazon on my 2002 Toyota Tundra. Overall, I think this is a great upgrade, but I also talk through some of the downsides of these bulbs. Hope you find it helpful, and thanks for watching! - Sal

    That Chrome aberration you’re referring to indicates a lens that is pretty clear, actually clearer most factory HID lenses (LED lenses have different OEM design) . Most lenses from factory such as HID BMW are Fresnel type meaning they’re not as bright to reduce intensity. Most clear aftermarket lenses such as Morimoto have this aberration. It’s actually pretty sought after .
    Almost forgot, this is actually one of the most original, interesting channels I’ve watched. Very original, clear, concise, and honest. Looking forward to watching more of these videos.

    Surprised this doesn't have very many likes, I'm your 500th. I completely agree on the OEM plus/subtler look, on sixth generation civics the professional retrofits are really out of place and bulgy, just doesn't look right to me, but every time I drove my dad's old S2000 or any newer car I knew I had to have a set of projectors in my personal car. Thank you for the in depth and informative review!

    Great video Sal . Have had an 06 Access cab for the last 6 years . Just drove 3600 clicks from Phoenix to Burlington Ontario with 0 issues. Having the timing belt (~200,000 kilometers) replaced now on the side of caution and will install the leds on the drive back to Phoenix in November . Many thanks for all the useful information !

    I did a diy retrofit about a year ago, and am really happy with how it all turned out! I got blacked out headlights and side marker lights for the retrofit, which I really like. I hadn't realized that these types of projector bulbs existed though! I had spent about $250-$300 using all budget/discount parts for my retrofit, but for a similar light ouput at $70, I probably would've just gone the route of these bulbs - it's definitely a lot easier!! Great video and review, Sal :)

    • @JDMDriveway
      @JDMDriveway  Před 2 lety

      That’s cool you did the retrofit yourself, and honestly $300 isn’t too bad. I think it would be cool to do that one day, because I do believe that they produce a much better output. But for now, I’m happy with what I’ve got. Thanks for watching, Jon! - Sal

    Good video. I did the same with my 2017 tundra...love it! A whole cheaper than a complete retrofit. I did a retrofit on my 2003 sequoia with hid. Loved the brightness and look but didn't want to do it again. Glad I saw your video, gave me ideas with projector look in led without fans. Good job.

      That's great to hear, and cool that the bulbs work with the newer trucks too. The retrofits seem great, but the ease of the bulb replacement for these makes them more desirable for me. Thanks for watching - Sal

    Really glad I stumbled across this video! I wanted to retrofit but opted to replace my Halogens on my '05 AC tundra with some LED's and the light scatter is just ridiculous. I am constantly getting flashed, and feel bad for other drivers so I switched them back to halogen and now I feel like I can't see anything. At a cross-roads of reinstalling LED's, and now that I know this is an option, definitely going to give it a try, 70$ for a safe and reasonable upgrade. Not to mention I like the OEM+ look, sometimes the retrofit projectors look good, sometimes they look goofy.

    • @JDMDriveway

    Hey Sal really enjoying the videos on your truck. I’m down in Florida as well and I’m checking out a 2002 Tundra in the next couple days. Excited to check it out, but I am worried about the condition of the frame. Although there is only 119,000 miles on it, the truck spent its life in Connecticut. In a separate video you mentioned your frame has little/no rust due to being in Florida. Is there any way to reach out to you with some questions? I’m a little curious what a frame in your condition would look like to compare. Really hoping the frame is in good condition so I can start a build. I did see in the vehicle history that the fuel tank members were replaced and it got a frame coating with the recall Toyota had. I saw your other videos mentioning things to look out for, but if you have any advice for checking out the truck that would be awesome thanks!

    • @JDMDriveway
      @JDMDriveway  Před 2 lety

      Hey Brandon, you can email me at jdmdriveway101@gmail.com and I can send over some pics of what my frame looks like. The frame coating sounds promising, but really the only way to know for sure is to get under and see for yourself. Something I didn't mention in the other video that I would also check is that 4wd engages (if the truck has it). It's electronic and I've heard that the actuators or whatever can go bad, so I'd just give it a shot. Let me know what other questions you've got! - Sal

    • @JDMDriveway
      @JDMDriveway  Před rokem

      Dang, sorry to hear that. Issues with the high beams is common on our trucks and most people install an in-line resistor to remedy that. However, these CO lights come with one already there so I'm not sure why you're still having that issue. The hyperblink is a little weirder, not sure where an overlap for the blinker and headlight wiring could be causing that. Do you have led bulbs for your turn signals?

      I got part #16410-AZ018. It's been over a year since I did the research to find out which one I needed lol so when I was looking at the options tonight it's definitely confusing. Mine is probably different than the one you would need for your 3.4 engine. I ordered mine online through my local Toyota dealership and then went and picked it up, but they have you put in a VIN and should be able to let you know if you bought the right one or not.

    • @koomo801
      @koomo801 Před rokem +1

      My 2 cents worth is that for such a problem to occur you must have damage in the transmission cooling line as it runs through the radiator. It’s not the radiator itself that fails. If there’s a way to only replace the transmission line then that would be the way to go.
      You can do a pH and voltmeter test on your fluid to see if it’s old. Eyeballing the color for rust/contamination no longer works (if it’s discolored then you’re WAY too late and you’d better be worried about head gasket damage).
