    I did this mod today, took me about 40 minutes. They must have mad a modification to the pipe that connects to the stock pipe, mind slipped right in, no issues. That $12 dollar tool for the rubber hangers was well worth it. I did put the chrome tip on, it makes the tone a little deeper. Great upgrade for the price! I also had to replace the carrier bearing, not difficult but not as fast and easy as the exhaust. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get the CV axle boots replaced.

    I installed this kit because of this video. I'm happy I did. I love the sound. Quick tip I lubricated the first pipe and took a 2x4 with a 5 pound sledge and gave it hell. Seemed to do the trick. Install was easy after that. Thanks for the video I have literally watched all of the tundra videos.

    I’m installing mine today, if I remember I’ll edit this comment with how it went!
    Edit:
    Alright, let me start off with that I am fairly new to car modification so it may be easier for someone else.
    This install took me 2 days, day 1 was removing the old exhaust, my first issue was the bolt on the clamp that holds the muffler pipe to the resonator was very rusty and stripped, so I had to cut it off with an ankle grinder, thankfully before installing I thought this might happen so I bought a new one of Amazon before hand. I had to stop on day one because I could not get the new pipe on to the old pipe all the way no matter what I tried, I even tried the ice and the heat but to no avail. So on day 2, I put my truck on an actual lift and was able to hammer the pipe on with a rubber mallet. Then I was able to install the new parts without too much issue. (I work at an auto shop so I only had access to a lift on my lunch break)
    I’ve driven around for a little bit with the new exhaust and have been very happy with it. No droning at idle, and it sounds great on startup and when you give it gas. I bought mine of realtruck for about $400.
    Overall it’s a good choice for a first gen tundra, I think my friends will be jealous… 😂

Its amazing how reliable its been so far, we used to do so many trips in it and its been across tye country a few times now lol, it does need a bit of work but it should all be fairly easy to do ourselves.

    Has it had any impact on fuel economy?

    • @JDMDriveway
      @JDMDriveway  Před 11 měsíci

      Nope not noticeably. Unless you consider how much more gas you'll be giving it to hear the exhaust 😂 thanks for watching

    Do you recall what size socket to take the exhaust off? I don’t own too many in Metric so I usually need to go buy them.

      @JDMDriveway  Před rokem +1

      Hmm sorry I didn't include it in the video. I'm pretty sure it was a 12mm but it could have been a 14. It's pouring outside today, but I'll check tomorrow and let you know for sure - Sal

      Ok, so just played around with it a bit and the factory clamp uses a 12mm. Then the new clamps from mbrp use a 15mm but the 5/8 was close and you could probably make that work. Hope this helps! - Sal

      It should, I've seen people comment that it fits on their DCs. Maybe someone else can jump in here and confirm. Thanks for watching!

    Seriously dude, put some shoes on when working in a shop. I hope you didn't drop a muffler or wrench on your flip flops.
    The truck sounds good though, nice job.

      Yeah, you're right. I guess I'm a bit naïve to think that I won't hurt myself working on the cars without shoes on. Thanks for watching though, and I appreciate the heads up - Sal

      Dang, sorry to hear that. I had a very noticeable difference in tone and volume. I wonder if your stock system had a leak or something so it was louder than it should have been? I've also found that the mbrp muffler has "broken in" a bit and gotten a little louder too after driving for a few days. - Sal
