    I am making an amigurumi tiger that has 2 colors that are being changed to create the tiger's coloring. Orange and white in this case. (The stripes will be stitched on later.)
    Based upon your description, this would likely be considered tapestry crochet, but each round is different so that the varying colors make the tiger look realistic. I am new to this much color changing but want to do a good job. The colors are carried along as the rounds are made. A bit hard to do this, but it is my first time. Thank you for your descriptions of these most interesting techniques! 🧶

    Howdy Ellen. Great colorwork introduction - thanks! For Entrelac, Instead of cutting the yarn when you need to start a new row on the right (or change color on the right), why don't we just use the Intarsia colorwork method to have a hanging ball/bobbin and TURN the work somehow to continue when we get to the end of a row? Is it even possible to TURN the work when doing Entrelac diamonds/squares/triangles , instead of working ONLY the front/right side? If anyone can figure this out, it's you Ellen Gormley! She crochets, she knits AND she's ambidextrous! Thanks!

    • @EllenGormleyCrochet
      @EllenGormleyCrochet  Před 3 lety +1

      Intriguing! I need to look at my hesitance to use Bobbins. I just always try to find a way to avoid it I don’t really know why. Yes I can conceive that there must be someway to turn and work back...

    Hi, thanks for such an informative video! Any idea about which method takes the most/least amount of yarn to create a piece of the same size with an almost identical design?

    • @EllenGormleyCrochet
      @EllenGormleyCrochet  Před 3 lety

      I’m thinking Intarsia is the most efficient use of yarn because it is not carried at all when not in use. Interesting question!

  • @tsdeakin

    Very good explanation of the different kinds of color work! Thank you!!! I was really confused by the different name. Your explanation helped a lot. I hope I can remember them...LOL! I have a question.... I worked a corner to corner small throw of a Minion from the movie Despicable Me using bobbins, years ago. Would that be considered Intarsia? It wasn't in the round or straight across.

  • @chrismiller7644
    @chrismiller7644 Před 4 lety

    Great info, thank you! A couple of questions:
    1) With mosaic crochet do you have to bind-off each row after finishing with a color, or can you just pick the color up later without creating a weird fair-isle-like line from the last row it was used to the next?
    2) It seems to me that what some people are calling brioche crochet is either cro-hook tunisian colorwork or mosaic, is brioche crochet actually its own, separate thing?
    Thanks again!

    • @EllenGormleyCrochet
      @EllenGormleyCrochet  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi! Thanks! 1. Not necessarily. If you work the same color for two rows at a time or if you use three colors you won’t have to cut. You can carry the unused yarn on a two color pattern if the carry doesn’t mess with the reversible appearance.

    • @EllenGormleyCrochet
      @EllenGormleyCrochet  Před 4 lety +2

      2. I don’t know :) I’m intrigued by your question and will look into brioche crochet. I have not learned that one yet! There is always more :)

    What is the reason for floating instead of tapestry?

    • @EllenGormleyCrochet
      @EllenGormleyCrochet  Před 3 lety +1

      Floating is more reliable to not have the yarn show through to the front. When you work over it as in to tapestry you run the risk of the carried yarn being visible
