    A great video, but an important thing to note- if you are a leftie, you will need to flip the direction in which you follow the chart. Right handed crocheters will go from the right to the left, but lefties will follow it from the left to the right. Being a left makes everything harder, and crocheting is no exception 😂 I had to learn this the hard way!

    • @woolandbuggers
      @woolandbuggers  Před 6 měsíci +17

      yes!! thank you for pointing this out - I thought I’d mentioned this in the video but maybe I accidentally cut that part out 😩 thank you for chiming in - will pin this comment when I figure out how to do that 🙈❤️

      @@woolandbuggers do your patterns on your website include left-handed instructions?

    • @woolandbuggers
      @woolandbuggers  Před 5 měsíci +5

      @@theen8564 they actually do not, sadly! I will make sure to add instructions in future patterns and also update my current ones once that's in place. for now, feel free to let me know what pattern you're interested in and I can create a left-handed graph for you. or as a quick fix, you could also flip the graph horizontally, and then make sure you read it from left to right.
      important thing to know: when you're crocheting left-handed, the front/"right side" will face you on odd rows, and the back/"wrong side" will face you on even rows - this is opposite from right-handed crocheters!

      @mariakristinahawl1640 Před 5 měsíci +6

      Actually, it doesn't matter where you start. All one needs to remember is that every other row Is crocheted In the opposite direction.

      @Jillelen Před 5 měsíci +6

      I think the only time that matters is with letters. Of course the image is reversed but if you’re ok with that, it’s fine. I’m a lefty also and tbh, I won’t follow the lefty directions as it confuses this lefty as I’ve learned to reverse watching a right hand crocheter. I do a lot of mosiac and a few graphs and I’ve not had a problem. Is there something else I don’t know?

    The "Crochet Police" need to leave you alone!!!! Your work is amazing, no matter what techniques or terms you use. Not only that, I think you are incredibly brave. Instead of worrying about "doing it right," you are just going for it and making your own wearable art. Good on you!

    When I was a little girl, there was a basket in our living room behind the sofa in which my mother's knitting and crocheting projects were stored. She didn't touch it for ten years. my father finished all the sweater in the end. So I somehow still believe that crocheting is a newer ending project. I've never dared to crochet a sweater, although I always dream of it ❤

    Thank you so so much for this, it was hard for me to find a good tutorial that shows the back side of the piece and really explains the floats and how they work. Also your comment about beginner friendly at the beginning was sooo true. I am crocheting for a year now and people tell me all the time "I could never crochet like you bla bla bla", and I'm like, yes you can. I crochet for at least an hour every day, of course I can now crochet fast and neat, I put in so many hours it is to be expected.

    Great video-very informative. Answered alot of my questions. Great of you to point out that the only difference between “talented” or not is putting in the work -SO true. Also, use wtv words you want girl, anybody who comments negatively on such a thing is a weirdo. I’m so frustrated hearing CZcamsrs continuously apologizing for the odd misuse of a word -particularly when it’s their 2nd language or just slang from wtv country their from ie: Canada. Those people seriously need to get a life. Maybe they should try learning a 2nd language before commenting on the correctness of those who have. Anyway, Your video has inspired me to finally try that color work piece I’ve been thinking about for a long time, so thank you. 😊

I have bought your Cowboy Cookout crochet pattern to try it out but I was intimidated to even start and I don’t know why. Maybe because reading about these techniques makes it sound so complicated when it’s not?
    At the same time, you explaining that it is perfectly OK for the back to look messy explaining your process in such a down to earth way is very very helpful. Not sure why it feels like there is such a competition both in crochet and embroidery for the back to look perfect :(

    I have only done a couple of color work crochet pieces but I do have a few tips. One is find a storage box with multiple holes in it to store youre yarn in and feed the yarn through the holes (depending on how much yarn you need you may need more than one box) and keep the box a small distance away from you while you work also be mindful of which way you turn you’re work this will help keep the yarn from getting tangled and you have something to store you’re project in when you are done for the day🥰.

    Girl you are just the sweetest person so cute.
    I got a tip/ trick for you or anyone else. You can add 2 stitches in one spot and then skip one to get the count back to even for diagonal or slants. Also. Reverse crochet. Its crocheting back but in reverse like if you are right handed ot looks like you dod left handed coming back. Hard to explain. I think. Its just moving your hook backwards

    Thank you for this video! I started crocheting in Jan of 2023 and I tried exactly once to do color work of a simple two color sweater with a star. The lady doing the tutorial was cutting her yarn on color changes and it was too much for me. I am not comfortable cutting yarn when a project is unfinished because mistakes happen and frogging happens. I never looked at another graph piece again. I might give it another go thanks to your video.

    Such a nice video, thank you! I’d love to hear if you have yarn recommendations for color work. As a newbie to fiber arts I’m overwhelmed by the options

    I am a beginner and I started with a granny square. People said that’s hard to start with, it wasn’t perfect but it was easy to catch on. Everything is going to be a little difficult if you are a beginner.

    I was looking for granny square videos but found you instead, which isn’t good for my ADHD because now I think I can do this 😂 What’s that brand of yarn you’re using? I love the look and texture of it.

    For long "bridges" of yarn you can cross the two yarns one time extra, to avoid a long string on the back of your work.

    Im a new subscriber and in love with your work. Any chance you can do a tutorial on how to use fiddle stitch? It will be much appreciated if you do! Thank you for sharing your beautiful artwork 😊

    The most importand thing with "grafic chrochet" is patients! And might need some praktise (start easy!) Corner to corner blankets are around a really long time. I struggle with stitch choice for my profect.

    Very informative video; would like to see how to attach a new color to a row. What do you do with the raw ends?

    What do you do when you run out of yarn with the baby skeins?? If you tie on a new skein how do you avoid the little knot showing in your work?

    Hi Anna Lee thank you so much for this video it’s been really helpful as I just started my first colorwork crochet project last week. I have a quick question for you when you make your stitches I notice that you yarn over insert into stitch pull up a loop then pull through all loops with yarn UNDER your hook. I’ve always had my yarn OVER my hook for this last pull through. Does having the yarn under the hook vs over the hook make a difference ie does it affect the height or the way the stitches line up specifically referring to color work? Hope that question makes sense 😂 and thanks again for such a helpful video. Your girl boss vest is next on my list!!

      Hi! If I understand your question correctly then no, it does not make a difference! Just different ways of pulling through hehe! I'm so glad this video is helpful and best of luck on your projects!!! Would love to see your girlboss vest once you get started on it!
