      But DRUMPF is literally Hitler.
      Drumpf changed to Trump at a time in America when discrimination was a big thing, in 1885.
      Leibowitz changed his name in the late 80s to obfuscate his jewish heritage- 100 years after The Donald's ancestor. Donald lived as a Trump all his life, as did his father. Mr. Leibowitz changed his name in adulthood.
      Oh and Trump has Jewish grandchildren so don't call him an anti-semite.
      Apples and Oranges, but morons will laugh to anything with a laugh track.
      Oliver was wrong about migrants causing the paris attacks.
      Oliver was wrong about importing migrants to replace the indigenous population to support pensioners.
      Oliver was wrong when he cherrypicked a female disabled migrant rather than the hordes of male migrants.
      Oliver was wrong when he told Slovakia that they should build mosques and let in muslim migrants.
      OH BUT ITS CURRENT YEAR.

      Have you actually watched the show? They've done *some* Trump stuff, but the vast majority of the episodes examine issues that are too specific to have cookie-cutter nation-wide stances associated with them, e.g. police abuse of civil forfeitures, the legality of fantasy sports gambling sites such as Draft Kings, net neutrality, the role of newspapers in journalism, etc. It's not just shots at Fox News and Trump's hair to appease sycophants. I like Chris Hitchens too, but quoting him doesn't make you a free thinker.

    • @MattSingh1
      @MattSingh1 Před 7 lety +1

      gambitvoleur
      'Have you actually watched the show?'
      Yes, hence why I can dismantle it so precisely.
      'They've done some Trump stuff, but the vast majority of the episodes examine issues that are too specific to have cookie-cutter nation-wide stances associated with them,'
      Actually this isn't true, as the pieces you mentioned were based on already existing news items. Oliver and his team get all their info from other news sources, they rarely do their own research. So you're wrong.
      'It's not just shots at Fox News and Trump's hair to appease sycophants.'
      Yes, I know this, and in fact didn't even claim this, so nice attempt at a pathetic straw man argument. However, Trump and Fox News attacks are what his idiotic, fatuous and inane fans like the most, as one can easily tell by the whooping and cheering they do (like Maher's moronic audience)
      'I like Chris Hitchens too, but quoting him doesn't make you a free thinker.'
      1. It's Christopher, not Chris.
      2. I didn't claim to be a free-thinker, so this is your second straw man argument.
      3. I don't require your endorsement to be a free-thinker, or anything else.

    • @aaronsmith1676
      @aaronsmith1676 Před 7 lety

      Bill Maher's Real Time has been nominated like 15 times now yet has never won, his old show politically incorrect also was nominated almost ever year but never won. As much as I love Last week tonight, Bill started political comedy, still has more viewers than any other political satire show and imo is the last bastion of true debate we have in this country, even in government, he needs to be recognized for it.

    • @Skankhunt42....
      @Skankhunt42.... Před 7 lety +8

      Yeah but Bill Maher is pompous as hell. Literally the real life version of the classic know it all liberal. Dont get me wrong I watch his show too but an award is the last thing his giant ego needs. He's always praising himself for being the only guy who talks about muslims and climate change even though he clearly isnt. Not to mention all the self fellatio he performs about being the "first political talk show". The man is so hard to listen to sometimes.

    • @aaronsmith1676
      @aaronsmith1676 Před 7 lety +3

      that really doesn't matter. There is no other place where you can get uncensored true debate between both republicans and democrats. I'll never forget the episode in Washington DC where he had a former GOP nominee as well as a GOP Governor (can't remember names) but the former nominee and congressmen said there was more debate about the true issues facing America on that 30 min panel than he had seen in Congress all year because both sides refuse even talk to the other at this point.
      On top of that there are no other media sources that allow these topics to be introduced usually because those media outlets themselves are owned by interests that do no want these issues discussed. So think what you want about Bill, like him, hate him, his comedy act nor his personality is what makes Real Time so valuable, its the exchange of ideas that you can find nowhere else in this day n age.

    President Trump seems to be the only one doing his job in Washington. It's time to point out who is not doing their jobs so, looking back on the overall attitude of the whole country I will rebuke: The Governors, State Representatives, State Senators, City Mayors, and Township officials. None of which can even stand up in defense of the President while all the fanatics and communist media were calling him bad things? I thought you all stood behind the office of President? This is how your political front shows who the real racist are. You defend UN Charters, Globalization, even Global warming but, you do not stand up in defense to the only one trying to protect the middle class the White and Blacks who put you in office? We may be a dying breed but, we pay the taxes everybody has their hand out for. We are white and proud of it. We are Blacks and proud of it. We are men and women who work in factories, on farms, and all over this country. Whatever we spend in Washington DC will mostly come from us. We pay for the schools to teach hatred of white people just to make everyone else feel comfy in their own racist skins. we let them teach socialism even though we are a Capitalist society because there is no better system in the world. We support our President especially when he if fighting to protect this country. You think only the poorest people vote? If you were Just Elected President and all heck broke loose wouldn't you want some backing from all the politically elected folks who, above all others with a constant hand out to the Federal Government, should be first to defend an office of government. It's time to end all racist based policies and appeasements now you get to work and serve the American People without Elites, Racist Hate, or any other Media tool. I see by the lousy way you run schools, fix roads, and stand down when it's time to make a stand that you actually hate the middle class I say," This is why we cannot have a Federalist system of state government only, you hate your own citizens of your state for the stupidest reasons. Skin color in 2017 please how out of touch are you elected officials." Signed concerned about the trash we have in State and City office's common everyday American.

    I like the guy and appreciate his intelligence but to claim the skittles and peanuts comments don't make any sense is something less than honest. He may disagree and may even have a weak argument that they are offensive, but they make perfectly logical sense in a profound manner.

    • @chrisd7047
      @chrisd7047 Před 7 lety +13

      It's an issue of probability. Finding one of 3 poisonous skittles in a handful of them from a bowl is pretty probable. Finding one of the 3 bad ones in a handful from an Olympic-sized swimming pool full of them is incredibly improbable. Given the number of refugees, the probability is closer to the swimming pool analogy than the bowl.

    • @quinbagwell7515
      @quinbagwell7515 Před 7 lety

      +Chris D the sample size isn't really the point of the argument , nor were exact or precise statistical probabilities. Only that the probability would be sufficient to make one think twice before eating. They weren't meant to be examples of exact correlation but only loose based analogies to make a point.
      Of course he was well aware of that , yet pounced on them as illogical for political effect, which I find a bit disingenuous. At least that's my impression. I could be wrong.

    • @chrisd7047
      @chrisd7047 Před 7 lety

      quin bagwell Sure, Oliver took it to a comedic extreme for comedic value. He's a comedian, not part of someone's presidential campaign. As for thinking twice, refugees already have an almost 2-year process to go through to get in here. To me, that qualifies as thinking twice. I'm not gonna beat Trump, Jr up a great deal, but the picture he painted with that is intentionally misleading. But, I too could be wrong.

    • @quinbagwell7515
      @quinbagwell7515 Před 7 lety

      +Chris D OK then, we'll call it comedy and let it go at that. Trump's analogy was exaggerated for sure , and Oliver is truly one of the funniest people on TV today , anyone who can make people laugh who disagree , is obviously a very talented and funny individual. I don't believe I'm wrong about that. ☺
