I have tried all kinds of methods, just when you think you have got on top of it,they appear again. So far the best solution for the birds is S76. A 4 week treatment. Then, as Matt suggests all other cleaning methods. Yes,it's expensive but, worth it,the birds can also bath in it.

NEVER EVER SPRAY ANYTHING DIRECTLY ON YOUR BIRDS. THESE ARE DANGEROUS PESTICIDES. No matter what the label or pet store people say. I sprayed some canaries and within minutes they were all on the bottom of the cage, gasping for breath and dying. Immediately took them and washed all the product off under lukewarm running water in the kitchen sink. They were in shock but all were fine.

Pink Sylveon Mites occur on every bird, even when it’s just a single bird. Of course having multiple birds increases the risk, but it’s almost impossible to not have mites. It’s all about keeping it under control. You do so by occasionally cleaning the cage and applying anti-mite to the birds every once in a while.

Do you have any insight on if bird mites/other mites can live on humans? Looking at videos of bird owners/chicken coops it looks like mites are super common and no big deal. However reading online some see bird mites like the Ebola virus/ how they can live on people and infest a home. Any expertise on this would be a huge help, God bless you

Nancy Orta so start by treatment of your birds. Do you have a veterinarian for them? Consult him or her or clean out their cage and use DE like in this video. Removing the source-the bird infestation-helps a lot of people clear up quickly. If you have a certain immune condition Or Lyme disease for example it’s a lot tougher to kick. Go to stopskinmites.com for some tips and strategies. Good luck!!

Update on mites. I used Skatt it says it is for scaly face mites. And air sack mites. But it works for all mites. He has stoped biting himself. You can only get it on the Internet.

I wish I'd known that as child.
If I'd known back then it would've saved both of us, the bird and myself, a whole lot of stress.
Imagine an arachnophobic child finding small red spiders on a pet bird.
Luckily it survived my dumb removal idea and didn't die until years later at the age of 13+.

This isn't that nice if you take the birds with northern mites to a show. There they may spread to other breeders. The same goes for red mites.

There in your hair follicles to mate that's why you lost your hair. No joke. I'm not saying you have that same mite. We all have mites it's just hidden by medical community. Some gave them worse than others.
