I just switched to the elite model with the jbox. Just programmed a gm bcm through gm's web site with a laptop and the jbox. My snapon guy came in and saw it, he then tried selling me on another scanner. After I told him what I paid for it he was in shock.. much happier with the Autel. But so many more options. I will be looking at more of you videos so I can understand this beast a little more
Jack Meyers Yes sir, after I installed the jbox on my computer and made a login through ACDelco's website I was able to. I know they sell just the jbox. I thought the only way to do any programming was to have the box, but I guess I was wrong.
Adam Balwinski the only way to do some programming is with the jbox. Some stuff you can do with the tool only. I have a series of videos I'm going to edit and post on some cool features autel has for instance fords. You can actually program a lot of modules on fords and hyundai by entering the module programming in the autel. It will read the module info , tell you to install the new one then rewrite the info into the blank new module. Works great you just can't shut down the scanner during the process. I have a cardaq that I use for Chrysler and a Bosch mastertech for everything else. Had them forever so I didn't need the autel box. That is good to know that the autel box works. I know the first version had tons of issues but like anything else they will perfect it.
I have the MS906BT and I get an alarm that reminds me to remove the VCI when exiting from the diagnostics setting. I agree with you on the case though... larger than it needs to be.
I picked up a Apache lockable case (for keeping your hand gun in) for my 906BT. Everything that I need fits in it nicely. I picked up another one for my Power Probe and smaller one for my MaxiScope.
Having recently picked up a 906BT I’ve been very pleased with its performance on a number of cars for a number of jobs. Any experience or thoughts on the Autel MP808TS? Supposed to be similar to the MS906TS with full TPMS and a wireless VCI. If so how are the bi-directional and coding capabilities?

I just purchased a 2019 version of the ms906bt and mine did not come with the cd that was suppose to be included. I believe it was the printing software? Did yours come with one jack? Thanks for the video my friend 👊👍

Hello.. Will the Bosh work as a VCI pass-through for the Autel scanner ? Or is Autel very specific as to what pass-through should be used on their scanners. Thanks
NEHEMIAH ISRAEL as far as I know there are no android based pass thru drivers. The only autel scanner that will do j2534 programming (limited programming) is the 908p and it comes with the pass thru. So basically if the autel doesn't come with the pass thru you can't use one on it anyways. As far as programming goes better off with a laptop, pass thru and using the oem websites. That's the only way I will do it.
Okay so let say you have a MS908p and for some reason your J2534 that comes with it get damaged, can you take the bosh mastertech and connect it with the usb to the MS908 and get it to work ?
@@jackmeyers2911 Hi can you use the J2534 device in conjunction with the Mini to relearn a Toyota Aygo and its other variants MMT automatic gear box change sequence without going into the expense of buying something bigger!?
I use the launch X431 Pro. I find it to be a great tool. but I'm thinking of upgrading, and am looking at the MK906BT as a person who uses Autel, what would your views be on that, please.
So I’ve recently bought a autel 906ts as I have an airbag light on abs also need to program another key for my 2013 Dodge Charger will it program a key for it it’s push start hopping it will spent $1700 on it it’ll be a let down if I can’t lost one key but I want to have two and will it also program a push to start key fob for a 2014 Toyota Corolla bought it with one key would love to have two
I’ve been debating on purchasing this one of the things I was wondering about because of course some things you read says it can and other things you read says it can’t… But if you have a vehicle that’s been in a collision and the airbag computer has had the crash information written to the EPROM… Can this reset the computer so that you do not have to purchase a new computer?
Hi Jack thanks great vid. just got the 906bt love it. looking for bosch j2534 to go with it ..(would I need any software to go with it) Looking forwards to more vids thanks
Manufactures spec software , PC and subscription with the OE. Each has it's own PC min specs and you need to create an account with them. Some are perform over the net others you must load software, like Ford. www.nastf.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageID=3639
Hey jack i just invested in one of those units. is it capable of oscilliscope functions? Do you think youll be using it for this purpose ?hope so i will be looking forward to more vdeos from you on this tool .I want to get the most out of my investment as possible. Thanks Mopar Matt
Hi Jack, thank you for the review. Maybe you can help me out, I have a Mercedes with the EIS system and need a new key programmed. Will this unit do it? If not could you point me in the right direction. Thank you
Thanks for the review it has me almost convinced to buy one , I am going to be rebuilding a 68rfe transmission on my 2011 ram does this tool have the trans tuning capabilities I need , I will be raising the line pressure, and also need 2 do a quick learn procedure
Trav Ratta yes . Most of the time when you buy it they give you an inspection scope free. It won't help you to modify the line pressure. Quick learn is a yes. Other then that you can calibrate tire size on that truck for speedo and shift point correction but as far as tuning and modifying the tcm it won't do it.
Hey, I'm looking to get a scan tool than is bidirectional in the next couple of months. I already have the autel md802 which can do a full system scan but lacks bidirectional control. I'm pretty sure I won't be doing a lot of programming or coding if any in the next 2-3 years. Would you recommend the ds808? It's about $400 cheaper than the ms906 and $500 cheaper than ms906bt. I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks!
Michael Cruz yea It's a great tool. You can go on autels website and check the function viewer if you need. It tells you exactly what each tool can and cannot do. If there's nothing missing that you can't lube without I would say go for it. It is an awesome tool. I've used it a few times. I do more module replacements then I do functional tests so I'm always stuck paying more.
Does the ms908ts model do the key programming also? I am trying to decide which I would like to have. The BT model or the TS model. I’d like to be able to diag TPMS and program TPMS sensors as well as program keys
I own one as well , bought it from uap-napa . Had some issues, couldn't figure out how to make it print so I contacted New York and they were really good, now I can print off reports. What I can't figure out is what the red adapters are for , at first I thought it was obd1 but the software only allows you to go back to 1996. Tried it on a 93 suburban with the gm adapter but no dice. They sure look nice though !
Hey Jack i have a question. I got a friend who needs a new abs module installed will the 906bt do that procedure? Its a 09 pontiac vibe awd. Great video. Thanks jack
Watched your video and just purchased the Autel MaxiSys MS906BT as this is all I’ll need and more. Can you make a video on how to do the actual coding using the MS906BT. Specially interested in doing some coding on my 07 BMW. Thanks.
You briefly mentioned the Launch, could you expand on your experience with that tool for dealing with keys and general programming? I live in Israel and just bought the latest global version of the X431 straight from China... Thanks!
yep i had one ms906 bt and it is a complete machine. even after the subscription expires you still have full functions that tool it is worth the money, i upgraded to maximIM608 pro and after subscription expired i started having issues loss of communication with some vehicles
Programming/calibration PSCM power steering control module and torque sensor on 2006 chevy malibu or newer. I just ordered this model but there are not any clear instructions as how to do this for a DYI... that would be a awesome video to see or instructions. Thanks for your time
Did you tried to update the scanner? Because I called the autel company they said they don't sell their scanners on Amazon and if you buy it from Amazon it must be a copy and you won't be able to update the scanner. Let me know thank you
I was nervous of the need for the BT adapter and the unit not having a hard wired connection..so I opted for the regular 906 :( If something happened with the BT adaptor I would be screwed. What's everyone's thoughts on that?
samson2143 the regular 906 is a good option. You lose some coding , programming and bidirectional controls but if you don't do much programming and do mostly diagnostics its an awesome tool. Believe me you don't want to lose the bt adapter. I have never because I have a long stand of caution tape attached to it and the couple times i forgot it the customer got worried when they saw the caution and called me right away.
Jack Meyers I am also interested in the Ms 906, I see you mentioned that some bi-directional controls would be lost, can give some examples of what would be lost and all that it has, thanks.
Well after watching all of your videos I’ve enquired with an official UK dealer on a price for the 906bt I’m watching a few on eBay as well so will see what the price difference is. I guess the downside with a eBay purchase is if I have issues with the actual hardware. Software wise I can update after the one year of free updates or just buy a new tool like yourself. Could you show some of the live data and graphing data on a typical engine control module? I can’t seem to find any videos online :-( Thanks again
Hi: Thanks for making this. For a 2003 GMC Yukon, Will the MS906BT change an ECU VIN after and used-ECU Swap? Could I also update the ECU odometer record to the vehicle actual miles? Finally, for a 97 K1500, can I change an airbag module VIN after a used-swap replacement? Thanks.
Unfortunately you can't . Gm is all online now. You have to use a pass thru and pay for sps on each vehicle. There are tools that you can get for what you want to do but the aren't any scanners that will do vin .change or calibration changes on gm vehicles. Gm doesn't store mileage in any modules except the instrament panel itself. No mileage in the ecu or bcm on gm cars. Used ecu pcms on gm vehicles only have the vin. I see people change out used pcms all the time without changing the vin and just resetting the pass lock.. you have to remember also if you have the used ecu in the vehicle already and login to sps is going to charge you for the vin it reads so always change the vin to the original in the service programming or you will be stuck paying twice.
@@jackmeyers2911 I got an answer from another source who said: Don't change the VIN because the diagnostic tools will think they're working with a different ECU based on the original VIN.
@@stephendee7839 you should always update the vin. You will run into more issues if you don't. First thing i do with a used ecu is update the vin to the vehicle. Especially in california for emission testing. It reads into directly from the ecu and an incorrect vin may cause issues with the dmv. Most smog techs verify with the door label but it can create problems.
@@jackmeyers2911 I contacted some diagnostic tool manufacturers and was *strongly* advised to leave the ECU VIN with the engine because diagnostics will use that to decide what PIDs to make available. With the wrong (motor) VIN, the diagnostic tools won't work. I live in a state without smog testing, so no issue with the DMV since they only care about the nameplate VIN, not the ECU VIN.
First thing comes to mind is they should have a red ribbon attached to the wireless part kinda like the red tag for planes "remove before flight" At least you'd see it hanging down.
Matt Trotta I actually got some yellow caution tape that they use in construction sites and attached it to mine. It's hard to miss now. Even if I do forget it customers tend not to drive away if they see bright yellow caution hanging by their feet.
I just got my 906BT and I see that when I exit out of Diag the alarm goes off and an on screen warning pops up reminding me to unplug the VIC (i think they call it)
James L I have had them all. I won't personally use the snap on. I was a fan of them for a long time but there updates are happy or biyearly. I don't care for them. Autel 1/3 the price 10 times the tool. Launch is a good tool as well but I own a mobile diagnostic / programing business and the autel is the tool I use for 90% of everything I do.
What is the difference between MS906BT and MS908 in terms of coding, adaptations, and actuations? I have Launch X431 Pro S model (2016) - does Autel have more or less programming possibilities? thanks!
Dimitry Linnik launch is good. I've used it as well. I have a launch scan pad I still use occasionally but autel does a bit more and is actually more reliable. For instance I found that variant coding for Hyundai and Kia srs control modules only works about 60% of the time with launch but has been 100% successful so far the past couple years. Just one example. Both are great tools, very similar in terms of functionality but as for me I made the switch a couple years back and wouldn't switch back.
Thanks Jack!! I sold my Lauch X431 PRO S this week and going to buy the Autel MS906 BT soon. Also, I have been in touch with official AUTEL team and they told me exactly the same as your post (that MS908 and MS906BT has the same SOFTWARE) BUT updates are priced differently and 906BT seems a better value for you money :) Also thinking about Autel MS908 PRO , but some online sources highlight undeveloped support with J2534. I see that you worked with PASS THROUGH devices! Could you elaborate your opinions on that? Thanks a lot!
Dimitry Linnik don't do it. The 908pro is a waste in my eyes. Their pass thru needs a lot of development and I do not trust wireless flashing. It's not listed as an oem approved for and manufacturers that I'm aware of and a lot of the programming autel claims is actually done through their servers and you don't want to brick a module trust me on that. The 908pro uses that bulky wireless pass thru instead of the the small bluetooth interface. It becomes a pain. For less money you can get the 906bt and a used Bosch mvci on ebay. Get yourself a laptop and only use the mvci for flashing. You can get a pass thru pro 2 or Drew box as well for a bit more. They offer a little more with the j2534 toolbox that's included like Chrysler vin and mileage rewrite but the autel 906bt will do that. I flash program every day. My main setup is the 906bt for diagnostic and minor programming like pats keys or ford module initialization and I have several lenovo laptops along with the Bosch mvci for flashing gm, Nissan, Volvo, Honda and others.
thanks Jack , I have a problem can you do a video on how I can program my key fob on my 2013 Dodge charger, I replace the battery and now it's doesn't open or close my doors, or remote start as well, very appreciative if you can help me.
It’s asking for a customer name or heading to file that diagnostic session under. Check the box if you just want to use the tool, you can always save the info after. You probably figured this out by now though
Was all set to buy the basic 906 for $760 from my tool warehouse thinking the only difference between the BT model is the wireless feature for $1100. Then I saw this video and have to decide if I want to spring for the BT if it does more things. I just sold my 3 year old DS708 that was able to program keys so I assume the basic 906 will too. Or won't it? What else do get for $340 more?
Ati Kovi .i'm sorry it took so long for the reply. From what i know a lot of the immo features of the bt are missing from the standard 906. Along with any coding functions and chrysler vin /odometer write. It regular 906 won't do kia/hyundai variant coding. There's quite a bit if difference. The ds708 was what got autel started. From my understanding on the newer autels they created the wireless vci interfaces for advanced programming and coding. The j2534 for bmw and mercedes automated coding and the standard tools with direct cable and no vci with just standard bidirectional controls and diag. I could be wrong but i did demo the 906 and it was missing a lot compared to my maxisys mini even.
Jack, you did a good video and review of the AUTEL MaxiSys MS906BT. There is however the MS906TS which incorporates comprehensive TPMS diagnostics and programming alongside all the advanced coding functions of the MS906BT. That makes it a notch higher than the MS906BT. The MS906TS is more expensive though ! On the MaxiSys MS908P and MaxiSys Elite that both come with the J2534 Programming Box, I think the J2534 device is endorsed by BMW, Mini, Mercedes and Maybach. Flash Programming for these auto brands are supported and are part of the annual subscription or free update period. Should you have more information, kindly share. Many thanks !
Charles Okonta I agree. I flash cars on a daily basis. I use the Bosch mvci and the drew cardaq. Go on the oem websites and there aren't any I know of that have autel as a listed oem approved j2534 device. I don't flash wireless and I use a icom for bmw. I'm not at all trying to discourage anyone away from the autel but Bosch and drew technologies work very close with the oem manufacturers to make sure and eliminate issues with j2534 programming. They have for decades. When it comes to diagnostic and some programming I use autel but flashing is a frustrating process and I wouldn't trust autel with a $2,000 ecu. Just my opinion. Thank you for your input.
drone1028 I'll give you a complete walk through when I get home. there is a setting to remove old versions of updated software . You can delete any makes including current versions on vehicles you don't need and it takes them out of the dianostic makes menus. The only thing is they always show up on available updates list when you check but the software isn't in the vehicle diagnostics list .

Thank you for the good review , so yhe 906bt is exact function of 908p but the pro have flashing modul ?
Bavarian Motors - BAHRAIN yes that is correct
@@jackmeyers2911 Hi can you use the J2534 device in conjunction with the Mini to relearn a Toyota Aygo and its other variants MMT automatic gear box change sequence without going into the expense of buying something bigger!?
I have a 2004 cadillac cts and want to program a new key fob. Will the 906bt complete that task? Thanks
When I change out my ecm on a fx45 2004 would I have to program the key too ?
I use the launch X431 Pro. I find it to be a great tool. but I'm thinking of upgrading, and am looking at the MK906BT as a person who uses Autel, what would your views be on that, please.
Hi would this unit enable a sprinter cruise control? Thanks
So I’ve recently bought a autel 906ts as I have an airbag light on abs also need to program another key for my 2013 Dodge Charger will it program a key for it it’s push start hopping it will spent $1700 on it it’ll be a let down if I can’t lost one key but I want to have two and will it also program a push to start key fob for a 2014 Toyota Corolla bought it with one key would love to have two
What pass thru device do you use to do the makes that the Bosch will not?
I’ve been debating on purchasing this one of the things I was wondering about because of course some things you read says it can and other things you read says it can’t… But if you have a vehicle that’s been in a collision and the airbag computer has had the crash information written to the EPROM… Can this reset the computer so that you do not have to purchase a new computer?
would love to know what to buy to scan car codes and to program computers on cars
Were you able to set up email on this? I have a hotmail acct and a gmail acct. Cant get it to work. Any advice?
Hi Jack thanks great vid. just got the 906bt love it. looking for bosch j2534 to go with it ..(would I need any software to go with it)
Looking forwards to more vids thanks

Hey jack i just invested in one of those units. is it capable of oscilliscope functions? Do you think youll be using it for this purpose ?hope so i will be looking forward to more vdeos from you on this tool .I want to get the most out of my investment as possible. Thanks Mopar Matt
Do u know if it can make a key for the vw cc?
Hi Jack, thank you for the review. Maybe you can help me out, I have a Mercedes with the EIS system and need a new key programmed. Will this unit do it? If not could you point me in the right direction.
Thank you
ntransam yes it will do it
Thanks for the review it has me almost convinced to buy one , I am going to be rebuilding a 68rfe transmission on my 2011 ram does this tool have the trans tuning capabilities I need , I will be raising the line pressure, and also need 2 do a quick learn procedure
Also does it have a plug-in for a inspection camera
Trav Ratta yes . Most of the time when you buy it they give you an inspection scope free. It won't help you to modify the line pressure. Quick learn is a yes. Other then that you can calibrate tire size on that truck for speedo and shift point correction but as far as tuning and modifying the tcm it won't do it.
Hi
Can this Bluetooth dongle work on 24v vehicles
f I buy autel maxsys906 from Amzon can i use in any country or should I buy it from local dealer to avoid the pan because different IP address?
How much is the subscription for this tool? What’s the name of that Bosch tool and what does it do?
Can you do a video showing how to program a tire pressure sensor?
Does the ms908ts model do the key programming also? I am trying to decide which I would like to have. The BT model or the TS model. I’d like to be able to diag TPMS and program TPMS sensors as well as program keys
Jared Braun yes it does. The ts is identical to the bt but has the tpms add on .
Jack Meyers thanks for the info. That’ll probably be the one I get then.
A1 video
Very informative about the MS906BT
But I would like to kmow about the flasher you we discussing.
Can you code vin numbers on computer with the 906?
I own one as well , bought it from uap-napa . Had some issues, couldn't figure out how to make it print so I contacted New York and they were really good, now I can print off reports.
What I can't figure out is what the red adapters are for , at first I thought it was obd1 but the software only allows you to go back to 1996.
Tried it on a 93 suburban with the gm adapter but no dice.
They sure look nice though !
Got very little diagnostic info from this video. Does it graph O2 sensor operation like an oscilloscope to see if the O2 sensors are lazy?
You will likely need to buy the Maxiscope adapter.
This tool does graphing.
Thanks.
hi where did you buy your diagnostic?
What's the difference between mk808bt and mk906bt, besides the price?
how do you use the bleed brake
Can you reprogram an ecu with it n play with trans shift points
Can the 906BT be used on cars with electric parking brake to retract the calipers when servicing the brakes? ie. Audi’s?
Yes the 906bt can be used to retract the electric parking brake and calipers. Ive changed the brakes on a 2018 audi sq5 with no issues
You briefly mentioned the Launch, could you expand on your experience with that tool for dealing with keys and general programming? I live in Israel and just bought the latest global version of the X431 straight from China... Thanks!
hey bro could you tell me what is the latest version of launch ?
@@aminmombini6882 Just go on the official Launch store on aliexpress and you can see there.
Jack by any chance are in Los Angeles California ? I need some assistance I was wondering if I could hire you
Does it have oscilliscope and did it come with the leads for oi.
yep i had one ms906 bt and it is a complete machine. even after the subscription expires you still have full functions that tool it is worth the money, i upgraded to maximIM608 pro and after subscription expired i started having issues loss of communication with some vehicles
906bt does key fobs and tmps? Full access to tpms?
Programming/calibration PSCM power steering control module and torque sensor on 2006 chevy malibu or newer. I just ordered this model but there are not any clear instructions as how to do this for a DYI... that would be a awesome video to see or instructions.
Thanks for your time
Did you tried to update the scanner? Because I called the autel company they said they don't sell their scanners on Amazon and if you buy it from Amazon it must be a copy and you won't be able to update the scanner. Let me know thank you
Can this tool program keys on 2012 Range Rover?
The light in the VCI is for finding DLC in the dark. .......
Will it do power balance on ford powerstroke diesel
Well after watching all of your videos I’ve enquired with an official UK dealer on a price for the 906bt
I’m watching a few on eBay as well so will see what the price difference is.
I guess the downside with a eBay purchase is if I have issues with the actual hardware.
Software wise I can update after the one year of free updates or just buy a new tool like yourself.
Could you show some of the live data and graphing data on a typical engine control module? I can’t seem to find any videos online :-(
Thanks again
Get it from Alibaba direct from manufactueer
@@stephendee7839 i might be misunderstanding. Did you do a n engine swap or are you just replacing a bad ecu.
can an autel 808 relearn a NOX sensor????
Can it flash ecu for of road dpf removal
First thing comes to mind is they should have a red ribbon attached to the wireless part kinda like the red tag for planes "remove before flight" At least you'd see it hanging down.
Matt Trotta I actually got some yellow caution tape that they use in construction sites and attached it to mine. It's hard to miss now. Even if I do forget it customers tend not to drive away if they see bright yellow caution hanging by their feet.
Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on upgrading from my old 708 to this 906 but just the base model not the BT model. Probably order it next week.
I just got my 906BT and I see that when I exit out of Diag the alarm goes off and an on screen warning pops up reminding me to unplug the VIC (i think they call it)
If you don’t mind could you say who you purchased this from?
My shop is looking to get new scan tool What do you think of Maxisys ms906bt vs Snap on verus edge
I have Launch X431 Pro S model (2016) - does Autel have more or less programming possibilities?
thanks!
Dimitry Linnik no difference that I've noticed at all. Same software, same coding. I've used them both quite a bit.
Also, I have been in touch with official AUTEL team and they told me exactly the same as your post (that MS908 and MS906BT has the same SOFTWARE) BUT updates are priced differently and 906BT seems a better value for you money :)
Also thinking about Autel MS908 PRO , but some online sources highlight undeveloped support with J2534.
Mercury Marauder289 .i'll see if I can do one tomorrow for you. . I've had a few subscribers ask for Chrysler key videos.
.
.
My 906 bt says (stand alone diagnostic) on the screen when I try to select vehicle make
It’s asking for a customer name or heading to file that diagnostic session under. Check the box if you just want to use the tool, you can always save the info after. You probably figured this out by now though
How do you sign up to get pin code if your a locksmith?
Ok
.
How is that 6vyears later? Just got one
Will this read dodge fuel sync?
What’s difference between this and the mk808bt
Can u do graphing like scanner Danner.. He shows clear videos of his snap on
Can you program a tcu with this?
How do you remove the apps for vehicles you want? You mention in the video there's a way to delete them?
drone1028 I'll give you a complete walk through when I get home. there is a setting to remove old versions of updated software . You can delete any makes including current versions on vehicles you don't need and it takes them out of the dianostic makes menus. The only thing is they always show up on available updates list when you check but the software isn't in the vehicle diagnostics list .
