Do you have to use the Bluetooth or does this version come with the wired obd port as well?
@@Triplemyworth709 there is no choice. The tool is wireless and the OBD dongle needs to be used. MS906BT.
Glen where did you order it from.
@Drake Marcellus Glad I could help :D
Programing as well ?
This is one of the best reviews of this scanner, very helpfull ,honest ,straight to the point. Great work.
I appreciate your comment David and thank you.
Thanks for the video, been going through the same agonizing search to find an advanced bi-directional scan tool and this really helped.
You're welcome Richard. The other day I used the MS906 on a Mercedes E class to bidirectional control a rebuilt a/c compressor that someone less had installed. The Autel came in very handy.
Thanks for the descriptive demo. I'm sold.
I think you will like the tool. Good value for the money. Thanks for stopping by the channel.
You are a fine Gentleman, rare to find these days, I really enjoyed your mentorship for my AUTEL MaxiSys MS906BT!!
Thank you
You're welcome.
Thanks for the great video! I just purchased a much less expensive scan tool and found your evaluation of the one you have to be fascinating. Mine will be used for only a couple of vehicles as I'm a DIYer, but it's amazing what a better one like yours is capable of.
Yes as technology increases so does the equipment. Even a simple scan tool can be very helpful to diagnose an issue. Thanks for the comment Ken.
Great job Glen with the explanation and a demonstration of seeing the data when hooked up to a car. And you're right that having a scanner that's bidirectional is the way to go if folks can afford that capability. Ah, I see that you changed your channel name and I'm sure you'll get more car enthusiasts when they do a search. Keep up the good work and have a SUPER GREAT weekend!
Thanks Terry, I appreciate all your support. 👍
Great video. I just made the purchase from my tool dealer right now. Can't wait to receive it. After watching your video I was sold on this product.
I believe you are going to like the tool. It's been a great asset for me so far helping fix and solve many broken car issues. You're welcome Robert and thanks for the comment.
Very descriptive demonstration. I like the printer feature as well with Bluetooth techno. With added virtual analytics to actually see what takes place is a plus. Appreciate the time. Hope you and family stay safe during the Pandemic.
Thanks
I have watched dozens of vids on this, NONE of them were as helpful as this one. this showed me sooo much useful info. the others missed the nuts and bolts details that I had been looking for.
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it. -Ozz
Awesome video Glen. Very helpful I think for those guys out there looking for a tool this would be a good one👍
I appreciate you feedback and agree it's a great tool for the price.

Thanks for the video Glen.
Like you I was down in the rabbit hole trying to work out what I needed/wanted. Bit the bullet and ordered one this arvo.
I’ve settled on the unit and hopefully will do the trick.
Hope you’re well - and love the data vs data comment - always a good one with my yank and Canadian mates.
Cheers from Perth Western Australia.
It was so much easier for me to move on once I made a scan tool decision. lol Thanks for your comment mate!
Very good job with the video. Very informative and detailed. We are currently pursuing a scan tool like this and I think this might be the one we purchase. Thanks again
The tool is an excellent choice Corey. Link in the description above.
Thanks buddy, I'm buying one and you really help me!
Great video Glen
Great video. I love my ms906bt. I have had mine for a couple years but you still showed me some features I didn't know.
That's awesome.
Do you have to use the Bluetooth or does this version come with the wired obd port as well?
Thank you for this review... I just ordered one yesterday and it should be delivered some time tomorrow
Your review helped me make my decision
Great tool for many applications. Glad the video was helpful. -Glen
Very informative, thank you for sharing. I will be ordering one!
It's a very good tool. Thank you for your comment.
Hey Glen I came across the same issue printing a report straight from the tool now I know what to do cheers 👍👍👍
Awesome
Thanks for helping me make my first major scan tool purchase!
Good luck Phillip. It's a great tool to own.
Well done Fella - appreciate your time - v. interesting as we are looking at buying one of these units - Thumbs up from us here
I am currently editing footage on the Autel MS908SP that I reviewed. The MS906BT big brother.
Thanks, Great review! Going through the struggle now!
Struggle no more.
Thanks for the vid!
That was the best scanner video ive seen.. veryy informative!
Thanks Doug!
Great video really helped
This is the final video that convinced me to go ahead on this model. I know that feeling of signing your life away. Mines on the way . Thanks for the excellent video
You're welcome, glad I could help. You will like the capability for sure.
Thanks for the info. Great vid, I enjoyed watching it.
Good news Tim. Thanks for your comment.
Good review ,im a retired tech and you have a lot of professional knowledge, that’s good to see .
Thanks Don. Cars are my passion since I was a little kid.
When I got ready to pull the trigger on a advanced scan tool I asked Eric what was best for the money. It was this very scanner. I've had a great time using it and haven't been disappointed. It is over a year old and I need an update, but for what I do I can use it without the update for now. I've not tried the printer option but I need to get that completed. I'm still learning things about this tool so I hung around for the entire video to see what I might have missed. See, I didn't know about the separate SD card option, cool. I liked your elevator music. Great video my friend.
Thanks Wyatt. So far so good with this scanner. Just bummed that I have an OBD1 adapter with it and it's useless. It has rescued my ass on an '18 GM car, video to come out soon.
Great video 🤘 very helpful.
Thanks, glad it was helpful.
I was a assistant instructor at a small college teaching auto tech. When I got there they had a Snap on unit. It started to do wacky things and freeze. It was windows based and would freeze. We looked into a bunch of units and ended up before I relocated with 2 of the Autel units. Being andriod based made it easy for students to understand as it is much like your phone.
I'd say the Autel units are very intuitive. Anything that makes life easier is good with me.👍
Thanks, I'm also using 906bt but didn't know how to enjoy some of the features.
Thanks for the information, very interesting
You're welcome Hugh
I bought the same one in October then added the scope. I have used it to bleed the brakes. Also got my fuel trims where they should be. Also a few tests. Works well for me. Built two pressure transducer to use on scope.
How do you like the scope?
Wonderfully thorough video thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ozzstars_cars I'm considering getting a 906BT or an Elite. Did JBTools sell you the correct North American version?
thanks buddy, perfect review.
Glad you liked it!

Really very helpful tool .Thanks.
You bet!
Great review of the tool Glenn! I purchased the MS906BT back in May 2019. I've used the tool on my 2004 BMW 325ci (E46), 05 Porsche Boxster S (987), 2008 BMW 528xi (E60) & 2014 Volvo XC60. I've also used it on my daughter's 2015 Hyundai Accent and my son's 2015 Ford Fusion SE. The tool has been flawless with every car and has all the functionality a home mechanic could want or need! It does have the ability to code in some of the factory disabled features of the BMW's. I'm in the market for a used Porsche Panamera which requires that the PDK transmission service be performed every 60k miles. As part of this service a calibration of the PDK must be performed. The dealer charges about $1,200 for the transmission service with calibration. I did some research and found that my MS906BT has the calibration service under the "Porsche-> Diagnosis-> Transmission Module -> Special Functions". The cost of the service kit from ECS is $249. If I purchase the Panamera and perform this one service, the tool all but pays for itself...just with one service!! That's just one example. Mine has more than paid for itself with all the services I have performed on my vehicles. It is a phenomenal tool and has worked flawlessly since the day I got it. If your on the fence about the purchase of a good scan tool and you think they cost too much, do like I did and look at the jobs you CAN'T do at home and how much a shop would charge you for programming, calibrating or relearning procedures. A tool like the MS906BT is almost a must have for us home mechanics working on late model cars with all their modules.
I agree Marc that the MaxiSys scanners are a really good value. Thanks for the Porsche transmission info. Sounds like you are a true Euro car guy!
GREAT info,thanks
Great real-life review, thanks!
You're welcome, thanks for the comment.
That was so great. Thanks so much
You are welcome.
That standby elevator music is the boss!
Many thanks for very helpful video. Mine arrived yesterday and is now 64g. Also wondered about would I need OBD1 tools. You answered that one. BUMMER! By the way I'm in the UK.
Glad I could help, thanks for the comment mate.
Thanks for going to the trouble of doing all this. good review
Thank you, glad the vid was helpful.
I only have two cars, and I don't repair cars for others. I bought an Autel MS309 @ Amazon for 20 bucks....and it does what I need it to do. Good video by you!
Right on
Thank you so much for your information I am really appreciate it
You are welcome Amir.
Informative video.
Thank you!!! I've been trying to figure out which scan tool to buy, it's so hard to compare the models! There are 50+ US scan tools made by Autel.
👍
Excellent, well made video. I learned a great deal here, and I am still learning as I lean more and more toward the MS906BT. One thing I would add is that if someone chooses to go with the MS906 instead of the MS906BT, there is another very important difference I discovered other than the wireless Bluetooth connectivity. The MS906 does not support ECU coding at all, whereas the MS906BT supports the same level of coding as its bigger brothers in the Maxisys lineup. (Note: don't confuse coding with programming). To me that is a very important difference in functionality.
To me, the ability to perform coding plus the wireless BT capability makes the decision between the 906 and the 906BT for around a $200 price difference a slam-dunk no-brainer.
I agree the MS906BT is a powerful scan tool for the money. Thanks for your comment Sniper.
I learned a lot from this video. So difficult to choose between all the models made by Autel...Price was a major factor ;-) After hours of reflection I finally opted for the M906S model since it is available in a tool store close to my house. Thank you for all the explanations in the video. Your English is excellent since I understood all of your explanations...Thank you very much, from a french canadian!
Great choice!
No OBD1 !! That sucks. It's a pain having good cars that outlived their obsolescence. Great video and content! Thank you
Thank you Greg.
Very nice Glen! I'd love one but I get by for now with my VERY basic scanner and multimeter! I get the job done eventually 👍😂😂
Anyway is the best way. Haha
Autel has the best storage cases for scan tools I have ever bought used they are just amazing
Mine is big! Haha
Thanks Glen. I have just bought an Autel Autolink AL519 OBD II/EOBD Code Reader for me. My local garage has most of the other expensive stuff
In the long run that's the most cost effective way to do it. 👍
Thank you!
Great video. Nice job
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice job Glen I was thiniking about doing a video on mine as well. I sold my elite and im508 and Autel picked up and switched to new owners in a few min. I’d like to show the diff between all mine and value etc. Again nice job ... Jay
I like the 906BT so far. Thanks Jay for your comment.
Thanks KID.
Good video.
You got it Boss.
Hi Glen,, thanks for the video I am debating between autell or launch, that video was very helpful.
Your welcome. 👍
I’m in the same boat you are which one did you go with? Thinkin this or the launch x431
Good job Bud. Nice video.
Thanks Duane
Thanks
Informative!
You're welcome!
That dub tripped me out for a second
Love the video. Can I adjust idle speed with this?
Thank you for posting this video. You covered much of what I wanted to know. Too bad OBD isn't covered. I also have an Actron/Bosch scanner, so that'll have to do for now. I've seen someone attach a rope to the dongle and clip it to the vehicle keys so as not to leave it behind. I'm interested in all the features you find in this unit. Please keep it up.
Glad.the video was helpful Geo. Good idea with the dongle, thanks and I'm sure I will do future videos on this.
Well sir ive studied long and hard to find an affordable scan tool .and i also took the plunge and just ordered an ms906bt should have it in a few days . these products get pretty good reviews and ofcourse autell says its a very capable tool im glad i found your channel so as you progress with yours im hoping to break in mine .maybe well pass notes! I plan on putting it through every pace i can well see what happens. Hopefully its a worthy investment
Yes definitely. So far so good. The scanner has it's limitations but that is to be expected. Let us know when your new toy arrives. 😉
I was thinking If you add a cable to your bluetooth device, it will help you remember to not forget it in vehicles. Or at least your customer will see it and notify you if you do forget.
kind of like the one that Launch x431 comes with. It's basically just a short connection between the bluetooth device and the OBD11 port which will turn it into a dongle.
Great review very nice. Thanks for taking the time to review it in details.
Good idea and thanks for the positive support!
I just purchased the MS906BT and just like you I agonized over which one. I'm am watching your video now by YT recommendation.
The tool is really nice to own.
Cornwell truck has them for 1600 bucks! It’s a
Good deal so I purchased the same one you have can’t wait to use it
Enjoy it. Let me know how you like the scanner.
works great also will work with a laptop. It uses Hantek leads. Bought the amp clamps. They come with short bnc leads so bought 6' extension leads. Very easy to use and figure out how. Only thing is you need to know good pattern to compare on some tests.
It was really helpful as I'm about to get 1 thanking you always from kurdistan iraq.
I just ordered mine same one he has so hopefully I like it haha 1600 bucks it’s on a deal right now on the Cornwell truck
Excellent video! I’ve just started my own workshop and was looking for a cost friendly scan tool that can do just about everything. I’ve subscribed
It's a great scanner for the money.
@@ozzstars_cars do you still use it and have you had any issues with it yet in terms of software capabilities? Have you had to contact customer support for anything and how were they to deal with? Sorry for all the questions haha
@@Fuaarrkk I use it often. No software issues and customer service has always been good. Of course my tool is USA supported. I now also own an MS908S Pro which I will be filming a video on soon. Many of the same qualities but has programming capability and a little bit bigger screen.
@@ozzstars_cars that’s one thing I’m worried about is I need access to Australian domestic vehicles aswell and I just wasn’t sure that the ms906 would support that. I’ve emailed the company though I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough. I look forward to seeing you’re other video mate! Cheers for your help! 🍻
Can't wait to use ours! Boost codes and ignition coil issues? No worries
It's definitely a useful tool.
@@ozzstars_cars most definitely! Have a possessed door lock system in my 01 dakota I'm hoping it can figure out, as I already searched the wire looms for green gobblers or short. And the module under the dash is no help as it piggy backs the locks off the same port in it as the airbags and several other systems...
Good job
Thanks for your comment
Hey On your Scanner I use Industrial Velcro from Home Depot for the dong I just attach to the back so I don't loose the dumb thing. Great VIDEO by the way!! Thanks
Good idea Mike, thanks!
Great video sir, I currently own the mk808bt which is a cheaper model and it can also do a lot for the price. I am fairly new to using professional scanners and still have a lot to learn from them. I am actually thinking about to step it up a little bit and maybe get this one, but I am not too excited about the pricy upgrade, after the one year for free. Lol
my biggest complaint with the 808 is that in wireless mode the live data speed is significantly degraded. it makes live data in wireless mode barely usable, and live data is pretty much the main thing you'd want to use wireless mode with anyway. so i'd only barely even consider it a wireless tool
excellent thanks
Your welcome
Thanks
Good Show
ALWAYS Back up your "Scan" folder (first day after all updates...then as you feel the need to. Then, definitely back up right before that year of free updates expires.) to external SD Card via ES File Explorer, which is installed on tablet.
They Should Reimburse you for your Tool. This Video will sell alot of these Units. Great Demonstration i will use your link to purchase.
Making videos does take a lot of time and resources to film and edit. I wish Autel would throw me a bone. At least it's good to know I'm helping people out with real world answers. Thanks for the support Red! -Ozz

Hi handsome. Great channel and thanks for showing us your receipt. Thanks. Tell us what have you done with your tool and have you repaired the code and vehicle? Thanks.
Hello Glen, Thanks for the review of the ms906bt. Did you buy the scan tool on the JB tools website? Thanks
Same as mine, aside from the lack of the tire sensor tool. You got a WAY better price than I did, though! Mine was $1,600 back in '16. That stung a little ...😬
It's a good tool for the money.
Ozzstar's Cars - Oh yeah, no doubt about it. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made for the shop. 👍
Great video u don't get to many people that will help like that and I need to understand them better. My question l think I already know does this unit have troubleshooting section like Snap on units. Thanks
Not on this model. Only wifi to look up information via the internet or a paid service like Alldata or Mitchell
Thanks for the video does it make or copy keys for any vehicles
No it doesn't.
Hi would this unit enable a sprinter cruise control? Thanks
The holder for the Bluetooth dongle is the big black box sitting on the bench behind you with Autel written on it that you stick it all in when your finished
😂😁😂
There are so many choices out there now. All can do so many things they couldn't do a few years ago.
Yes it has
Thanks for the video. I decided to order the MaxiPRO MP900-TS. I hope it doesn't fail me. I need to scan a Buick w no codes and crank but no start situation. I'm at a loss to what the problem is. I replaced intake manifold, turbo bypass tube and install new valve cover gasket. It started once and died in a few seconds abd never started again. Fuel pressure checked ok. Other than that, i'm completely clueless. I'm not a professional and only work on my car and families
Scan yools provide data, not the fix. Hopefully the tool will give you the data you need to determine the problem.
una pregunta con este sccaner puedo programar bcm para bmw 2010 o tambien llaves de carro gracias o que tipo de sccaner me recomienda que tenga para programar bcm y llaves de carro
Great videos sorry for being late but I'm wanting to upgrade my autel and the only reason I use my scanner for is a manually regen that's it,but I never new about bidirectional because now I'm having fan issues,I have a ford superduty 2013 f-450 cab/chassis 6.7 diesel all I need to find out is if the MS906BT has option to manual rrgen ?
Will it do porsche battery registration, retract the brake calipers, reset oil change?
Looking for a good scanner for my 2011 Jeep wrangler sport s . I need something that will activate the abs , or be able to do an auto bleed . I wonder if the 808 would work ?
Wise words, Glen. I never found a scan tool I don't hate, but the Autel I'm using now, the 906 BT, is the best so far. Dramatically better than the pro version of Autoenginuity. Expensive for a DIY, and only those who spend a lot of time in the shop will find a high level scan tool worthwhile. I knew about the $400/y Autel subscription fee, and the fact the battery is not technically replaceable. I've seen complaints online from guys who didn't renew the subscription, not sure what to make of that. I've had to type in the VIN for most of the vehicles I've worked on so far, which is a little annoying. Also the online forum is poorly attended so there's not much help there. Bidirectional control is much better than other versions, but this Autel version is not as good as more advanced models for programming. I find that to do quick jobs like erasing codes, a smaller scan tool is faster. For an entry level scan tool, people should get live data, but this level of bidirectional control is expensive and not necessary for most home mechanics.
I have experienced scan tools that have lied. Without having a back up would have put me right down the rabbit hole! So far I like this tool a lot. I fact it saved my ass on an '18 GM. Did some recalibration type work I thought I would need a GDS2 for. That alone put a smile on my face. Thanks for your comment.
You don't have to pay for subscription unless you want the latest vehicle updates. You can wait 5 years then update it once and when you do you get a full year.
thank you so much!! this was so helpful. I'm in thw process of trying to find a good scanner, I have a few questions if I can email and talk to you. but thank you for the video.
Contact info is in the about section on the Ozzstar's Cars page..
Have you tried the Bi-Directional/Active tests yet? I'd like to know if it can activate servos and solenoids.
I sure have. Works like a champ on many applications. Controlled a Mercedes a/c compressor today filling the system with freon.
Great review tanks for posting! I am looking for something beyond the $30 one way tool for something that gives bidirectional control and with more detail, while not wanting to drop $10k on a Snap-On full up system. This looks like it might fit the bill for me. The price is about right - if it saves me from going to the dealer even a few times it paid for itself. One question I have is does this thing by any chance have the wiring diagrams for the vehicles?
No it doesn't have built in wiring diagrams. You can access the internet feature and join sites like alldata or Mitchell for wiring diagrams, or look it up on Google.
