. . . but Mackay was a businessman, not a politician. So it was an assassination with socio-political implications, but not politically motivated. He was a citizen activist.

@@damienholland8103, I don't know if I even believe this myself, but maybe it will make sense to you. One of the Facebook groups I was in, every time someone posted a positive story about cops, one of the admins would say, "A.C.A.B. and you're no longer welcome in this group." I finally asked someone what it stands for and they said it stands for 'All Cops Are Bastards' or 'All Cops Are Bitches'. A lot of my family members are cops. Including my dad and my brother, so I told them my dad and my brother are good men and really good cops. They treat people fairly and try to give people a break. They told me all cops are bad because they know a lot of cops are corrupt and if they choose to work for a system that has a bunch of corruption, they are standing for it, which makes them just as bad. Like I said, I don't think I believe that, but maybe it will help you understand why the O.P. said that.

It's interesting how Australia and America had such similar political intersects. Our war time leaders both died before the end of WW2 (Roosevelt in USA, Curtin in Aus) we had a leader die in the 60's (Holt in Aus and Kennedy in the USA) and a leader forced from office in the 70's (Nixon USA and Whitlam in Aus) And a famous outspoken person killed and never found (Mackay in Australia and Hoffa in USA)

  • @NxDoyle

I don't understand the fascination program producers have with a case being the biggest, the first, the most famous/infamous. Spend more time on the detail. When you write copy, find out how much $90 million in 1970's dollars is at the time of production. Tell us when a central figure dies, instead of a lazy "some years later".
More importantly, if you're intent on producing dramatizations, either write scripts and rehearse them, or cast actors with the ability to improvise a scenario.
Finally, and this is a biggie as far as this series goes, don't write speculation as fact. One of this series' biggest flaws is running the audience through a sequence of so-called events when no witnesses were on hand, no investigation was able to prove occurred. It's lame and ultimately disrespectful.
