  • We investigate the story of David and Catherine Birnie, Australia's most sadistic husband and wife killing team who tortured, raped and murdered four women in 1986. We also look into the murder of Call Girl Roslyn Watson which had remained unsolved for more than 15 years and would have stayed that way if it wasn't for the tenacious efforts of a bright young Western Australian Police Detective.
    ----
    Hosted by respected journalist, Steve Liebmann, CIA uncovers the true stories behind these cases through chilling re-enactments and access to the key detectives, family members and witnesses involved.
    ----

      Clever Katie and her boyfriend, to have that code. 'Reminds me how they used to say to teach your kids a ``safe word?'' That could be used in case of kidnapping? That kind of thing is a good idea, but scary to have to have. Hopefully, we instilled enough safety precautions to never have it come to a ``safe word.'' I didn't wanna even tell my child such people existed, so I don't think we ever did share a ``safe word,'' but we didn't let her do anything alone. But these aren't kidnapping cases, really, so I digress. I guess the safe word would only let you know if they were actually alive in a ransom situation? Stuff like that? Additionally, Mr. Birnie probably didn't hang himself; that's just the official word. I am sure he thought too highly of himself to kill himself. He obviously valued his carnal pleasures even more than the lives of those women, so I don't see him sacrificing his own life, much less the small discomfort caused by forgoing the fulfillment of his sick fantasies might have caused.

      We all have a dark side that we avoid and resist but are interested in because it is a part of who we are. I don't mean we are murderers. No. Just that we have natural anger and hostility to protect ourselves as animals do. Not psychosis which is different. Watching these videos is a safe way to explore the dark side of own humanity. We are a species in the animal kingdom, but we forget that. We are all interested in this subject. God bless the perpetrators and God bless the victims. @Whoever Sociopaths and psychopaths are two entirely different groups; finish the homework you seem to have just started. Most sociopaths can be trained/treated to feel guilt to varying degrees. Psychopaths cannot be treated; they are so damaged that they remain permanently unable to see the world in any other terms than predator/prey. All of it has to do with how they were raised. While their environment may have shaped how their brains and minds developed, the cause is not originally medical. Elizabeth not the Queen is asking the right question. I worked with these people for many many years. The key is to DO something with these people when they are behind bars and on parole; the program I worked in was unusual in that regard. Far more could be done by preventing this in the first place. As for psychopaths, all you can do is keep them permanently away from society. Preventing them would have been so much easier and cheaper: read, for example, the life histories of Aileen Wuornos, Tommy Lynn Sells, Peter Kurten, M. DeBardeleban etc., etc.

    Why do cops use "Policespeak" where one word is sufficient but they will go out of their way to use two or more? For example, why say "male person" when "man" is all that is needed? This is not just Aussie. The UK is even worse.

    • @GinYouWine
      @GinYouWine Před 4 lety +2

      I agree they should never see and feel the light of day again the problem is with the death penalty verdict is for multiple multiple appeals filed and opens up for the defence team to have the sentence overturned on a technicality or even shorter sentences. Every time the appeals happen the victims loved ones face the fear they will be set free it retraumatises them over and over again not allowing them time to even process their loss. Also it costs millions per inmate for the death penalty to occur far more money on the tax payers than to jail them for life. the better option is life without possibility of parole.

    Nothing makes me angrier than finding out a criminal was able to commit suicide while in custody. They need to be kept alive and suffer the full length of their sentences. Suicide is the easy and cowardly way out, and VERY unfair to victims' families.
