  • Hello SQ fans - in this Allen & Heath SQ tutorial, Ryan discusses how to route FX to the aux bus independently of the Main FX so that you can have complete control over a reverb (or any FX) in your monitor/livestream vs a reverb in your mains.

Thanks for the heads up but I have my stream set up post fader to have the processing to be the same both for the house and stream. We don't have a separate person mixing for the stream. Should I have the effect on the entire aux?. Can I have the effect just on the five vocalists in the band?. 😎

If you don't have someone dedicated to mixing the stream, I would just go with the house mix and use a Matrix to adjust volume (see our Matrix video)! With an Aux, you adjust the send on each channel. So, you'd select which FX bus you have chosen for your stream, then move the faders up on each channel you want to have FX.

How come when I load the app/software in my laptop and trying to connect the SQ7, it always crashes?

That’s hard to say. My first thought would be to try with another computer to start ruling things out. If you have trouble on more than one computer, the next thing to check would be that your firmware in SQ is the latest and that your computer is up to date with updates. Also if you’re on Mac, it looks like the app only supports up through Big Sur and hasn’t been cleared for the newer OS - Supports macOS Mojave (10.14), Catalina (10.15) and Big Sur (11.0)

What software is this exactly? Just the sq app running on a MacBook?

How did you names the Aux

You can name them just like channels by accessing the Aux channels in the Layers. By default they are found in Layer D. Select the Aux then tap on the Aux name at the top of the screen and you should be able to input your name just like a regular input channel.

Trying to get a separate FX to our monitor mix that we are using for our church livestream and we are struggling. The SQ is overly complicated. Not user friendly at all.
