    We have the SQ-7 at our church. I have to agree with everything here. It’s an amazing board with a very easy to use experience. We actually had a concert this past weekend as well at another venue and they had the SQ-6. I had to configure almost from scratch everything. All inputs and outs. Full band with stereo in ear mixes and monitors on stage as well. I did it in less than two hours and the concert went great. I will say there are two things I missed that out 7 had. One were the extra physical faders. Makes a big difference having extra faders immediately at your fingertips. Small gripe, I know. But once you get used to something, it’s hard to adjust sometimes. :) Second thing, and he didn’t mention this in the video. The ability for wireless control. You have apps for tablets and computers and we weren’t able to fully use that since the board was not updated to the most recent software. I use an iPad at our church and it is so easy and cool to walk around and onto the stage to help with mixing. Another thing, since it didn’t have the updated software, I was missing the RTA feature on every input and output. This was HUGE when it comes to EQ’ing everything. And a very important feature not to be overlooked. Again. Everything went great and the bands and people alike gave many compliments on the mix after the event. I highly recommend this board. Just my $.02. :)

    We have one of these at a portable church I help at on occasion. The iPad app is amazing. We basically use this console as our stage box and run everything FOH from the app.

    I worked with the SQ and I don't know if you know that, but you can copy and paste just the eq or just the compresser by selcting the channel you want to copy from, hold copy and press the "In" button and than hold paste and press the channal.

    Nice overview. I've been running an SQ7 since last November and I'm still just scratching the surface. 2 questions...I run my live stream mix from an aux and I'd like to drop some reverb into it independent of the mains. What's the best way? Also, the mini plug input...believe it or not I have to do a memorial service at my church and the family wants a cassette tape played. I found a player with a headphone out. How do I control the output volume from the board? Great job on the video!

    • @timsmith3689
      @timsmith3689 Před 2 lety +4

      Re: Reverb. Send your channels as per usual to your desired reverb Fx channel, and adjust the reverb return on your online Aux channel making sure it's set to 'prefade'. The amount of reverb return is then independent of the reverb return you might be sending to L/R front of house.
      Re: Stereo in for tape deck. The fader channel strip for the 'Stereo In' will have a gain control /pad / digital trim on the channel as per any other input.

    Hi. Am migrating from analogue to digital mixer. However, am having a hard time choosing the right mixer for live sound (house of worship). I have in mind the following: Midas M32 live, Allen & Heath SQ5 and Presonus Live 32S. Which one would you advise me to go for? Any other suggestions will be highly appreciated.

      I know that the third-party Mixing Station app has built into it Midi controller options. While I have not yet used Mixing Station to control a USB Midi Controller with the SQ yet, I've used it successfully with other Mixing Station supported digital mixers: X-Air & X32. The Midi controller I used with Mixing Station app was the older BCF2000. I had it laying around from older SAC (Software Audio Console) days.
      I've used an older Android Tablet that had a full sized USB-A connector for connecting other devices and it charged by a non-USB connector with my USB Midi controller. It was a rare find, but worked out well since it could remain connected to power while in use and never run the risk of running out of juice before I had to unplug my controller to connect the tablet to a USB charging cable.
      Mixing Station does require the users to either manually configure each function to each button or fader... if you don't have someone that will let you copy their configurations. It takes some work to decide how you might want to configure and label your own controller before you start programming Midi commands in Mixing Station, but it can be better a better option than working without hands-on control of Faders, Preamp, Mute buttons, Select buttons, compressor thresholds, etc.
      I programmed Mixing Station differently for the use with X-Air than for the X32. I suspect that I'd program Mixing Station for SQ similar to how I did for the X32.
      SQ Mixpad has higher system requirements than the Mixing Station app on Android devices. So devices that can't run SQ Mixpad can run Mixing Station to control the SQ.

    On the sq for a stereo channel you would need to inputs from the stage?
    If there 48 channels but I have a few stereo channels would I need to stage box’s?
    A 48 channel box and 24 channel box?
    Would that work?

      Use the green Routing button. While on the desired channel select the Group you want in the routing screen. Don't forget to turn off that channel to the front of house in the routing, as you want it to go to L/R FOH via the group.

      Churchfront loves the WING, they made a head-to-head video about it, versus this board. WING edged it out, but both were recommended. PreSonus was not mentioned.

    • @billhavens1759
      @billhavens1759 Před 2 lety

      He’s Right, Churchfront does love the wing. Unfortunately it’s quite clear that they do have a bent towards Behringer, but we all like what we’re comfortable with. I personally would say that I have liked the PreSonus over the Behringer from my personal use But we have just gone up to an SQ7 which I would say well exceeds the quality and capabilities of the Behringer wing. Having the ability to use Dante In the future is a great benefit alone. When we looked at the Behringer it did not have this option as of yet. There are head-to-head reviews between the PreSonus mixer and the Behringer wing with sound comparisons that you can listen to.
