Finally!! I’ve had this board for almost a year! Been waiting on someone to post a video about it!
I really love the snappiness of the Allen & Heath faders as you switch through the layers. Super smooth and fast. And very quite which is really important to me
Noticed he spoke about Aviom. Obviously Aviom is a very common system to find in churches. But the Allen & Heaths ME personal monitoring system exceeds the capability of the Aviom system BY FAR. You can have access to 40 channels and even group them as well. So one mix/channel on the ME system can be the drum group and have all 6+ channels for the drums. The mix/channel acts as a main fader for that group. But on small click and you can adjust each channel individually in that group as well. And there are 16 of these mix/channels available to configure how you like. Please look into this system if you are considering most of A&H’s digital mixers. Truly a game changer in my mind when it comes to personal monitoring.
So my 1st church here in Ghana got this board a few months ago, they are having so much fun with it. I’ve got the SQ 6 in our virtual studio. Great boards from A&H

How much do you paid for a brand new?
I’ve been using this desk for about 8 months. It’s been great. It’s a step up from our old Allen & Heath GLD. I use the eq and comp on the encoders all the time. I do t use the touch screen much. Having physical knobs and faders is why I use a console. I have a matrix with post fader sends for our broadcast mix. This does the job well.

The avantis that comes with deep plugins cost $10,299.00 and the avantis without plugins cost $8,999.00 just in case anyone is wondering why you see a price difference

Talk to an actual dealer, not just a retailer. You can get into the console with Deep plugins for closer to $9K, and under $8K without them.
We just recently switched to the Avantis at our church. We are now utilizing Dante with it.
We were using the Yamaha M7CL before.

I would have loved to have heard you guys speak more at the end on what those differences are in the Avantis vs the SQ series because of the hands on use with both. Other than just a higher amount of similar features ( more slots for effects, more I/O, etc) what are biggest ‘feeling’ differences?
My church has used the GLD80 since 2012 and with it being discontinued, I have been looking at what we would go to. The features and workflow are very similar to the sq and avantis. A&H also gave the GLD series the compressors and new effects for free. At this point it doesn’t feel worth it to spend 5k to just get fresh hardware. On the other hand the board is almost a decade old and I don’t want it to die on us and left high and dry.
I think I’m still most intrigued by the Behringer Wing. It at least sticks out because they seem to keep pushing and updating their software and offering more features to the same hardware.

Great board. We got one for a steal with DPack so I grabbed it for our AV Control Room (ok actually I FORCED them to upgrade from a Mackie 8db). I'm personally still on the iLive 112 for FOH and Monitors but will be upgrading to dLive in the near future.

We got it a week ago. I like it! Also I would recommend to adjust main speakers EQ (exactly in that church) because there are too extreme EQ cutting on almost each channels.
I'm sure, other people have pointed it out: The X32/M32 have a 4 band Compressor, you can put in 4 of the effect racks, so you can Insert that on op to 8 Channels
has it been mentioned yet that even the sq series has one IO-Port (which is already amazing for its price!)
There is a Dante digital snake for Allen & Heath. i'm looking at that for my church in WA State.

Does anyone have or know of any other alternative for IEM mixing? We did away with Avioms given our Soundcraft got donated to our youth group and with the One Mix app not having much support it sounds like and non on the horizon, it feels we are limited on options. Would love to go with the ME mixing but our budget just won't be able to provide that for all musicians. Thanks

Phil Nelson, It's been about a year since this video went out. Are you still enjoying the Avantis and are you glad you switched from the SD9?
Love this board and even got a ProX flip case to go with it. HOWEVER, A&H is bad with there customer service. I've been asking for an offline editor and they still won't develop one. This makes it hard to program offline when not at your board. Another thing, the iPad app isn't so intuitive. The iPad app is made to only control one mix at a time. So it means that you'll need multiple iPads if your musicians want to control their mix. An iPhone would be nice and an iPad app that can toggle between auxes would make this board even more amazing.
Hey have you ever used a chauvet EVE P-100 WW wash light before? If so do you reccomend it?
He spent $11k on the board, which I have no problem with, but they’re using 16 channel avioms? There so many more options to get 48 channels to IEM.
After years using the avantis what do you think about it? I read comments of people complaining about the screen freezing or problems with faders etc…. I’m thinking about a solo but don’t want to spend the money if the mixer is not reliable . Also one thing is to have it in one place and a different thing is what I’ll be doing with is moving place to place

X32 indeed does come with a multiband compressor. The Combinator.
Trash quality compared to the allen and heath. And also it very limited its not like you can have a lot of them because they take up insert slots. Have a M32 at my church will be getting a avantis soon.
@@soundfreak8892 certainly nowhere near the A&H stuff in quality. But not terrible. Obviously id prefer an Avantis all day!
ha even the behringer x-air and x32 have a 5-band multiband compressor, and it comes free, its called Combinator
Yeah it does but its not that flexible on the x32 or m32 its not integrated into each channel like the allen and heath. On the x32 you would have to use insert slots to acheive that and sadly. And also the quality of all of the plugins on the allen and heath are much more superior. Berhinger x32 sounds like shit. Dont take it persoanl just an opinion :)
3:10 Quick note, I may be wrong here, but isn’t S-Link a smart protocols switching technology which decides what A&H protocol to used based on the connected device, eg DX168 used GigaAce or AR2412 uses DSnake, hence they call it an intelligent port. I don’t think they actually make this super obvious on the A&H website though.

Anyone in the Avantis world know if the fader indicator feature they talk about around 22:04 is part of the optional dPack or if that's standard on the board? We've got an Avantis without the dPack upgrade and I'm trying to figure out what that feature is called or how to enable it.
What kind of speakers do they have at that church??
Hey man I hope your doing well, so the other night I did sound for a worship night on an Aventis and it was bugging out sooooo mutch, for example when changing screens it would load and then changing faders the sound wouldn't change for like a minute 😅 I think it was just some trash settup but do you guys have an idea 👀
Great interview, I would like to know his goto efx and comps....Can you drop in a chromatic autotune on a channel? Does it have other plugins besides Tube Stage? Does it have like a LA2 equivalent comp?
my only complaint about this board is its app to run off the ipad is not the greatest and there is nothing except custom control for phone control right now. but word is a new app will be coming in the summer hopefully.

Need a compare of this board with a wing. I am trying to get my Worship leader to buy off on this board but is stuck thinking the wing is just as capable.
The Avantis is superior in every way including running 96Khz audio. Wing is only 48Khz.
@@marcossebastian1739 Avantis is superior in every aspect. The build quality, the sound quality and the flexibility. The wing is i guess okay for the price but sound wise it does not even come close to the quality of the avantis, especially the plugins. Soundwise for the wing, there isnt anything new as of now. You would have to use Dl32 which is the same sound as the m32. The only thing they changed is more plugins, a crappy touch screen and a very complicated platform. Its not really a freindly user console at all. And also the build quality isnt that great, feels like i could snap it with my legs. But of course there is a big price difference for a reason. Me personally would not go from a x32 or m32 to a wing. I would save up and buy a console that would really change the game like the avantis.

Don’t, just don’t. 🙈😁… On a practical level, it’s like comparing a Chevy Cobalt to a Mercedes or Jaguar. While both would get you from point A to B, the ride quality, feature set, ability, user experience and everything IMO is night and day different and much better on the Avantis. The Avantis is in a much difference class to the wing.
A better comparison would be comparing the SQ series to the Wing and I’d still say the SQ is noticeably better in many ways from ease of use to layout, flexibility, ease in routing etc.
@@davidelder1031 sq7 all the way, the wing might be have a lot of features for the price but many people forget you still have to buy a stage box with it, and the price adds up I don’t think anybody would buy a berhinger s series stagebox because those things sound terrible. Allen and Heath is pure quality berhinger not so much. But I do have to say is that the x32 is a true game changer for the price, not the best sound quality and not the best build quality but you can only get so much for the price

Watched a number of videos now and it something that causes me to skip over his videos when I see them.
I know he feels the need to direct the speaker to what he specifically thinks people want to hear, but when you go round to so many different church set ups, we want to hear what's different about the set ups. Not the same specifics you asked in the last video, and the video before that.
Let the people speak and just sit quietly and listen.
