    Video-In this free DIY video we show you how to remove your Harley side transmission cover and disconnect & then replace your Harley clutch cable assembly inside. Make sure you have a new gasket ready to go and some oil/fluid to replace what you loose when removing the side transmission cover.
    2014 & newer Harley Davidson's have hydraulic clutches, so this side transmission cover is just for looks and you'll lose no oil when removing it. There is just a bleeder valve for the hydraulic clutch line hidden behind it.
    Save yourself a ton of money by not having to take your Harley to the dealership to have these types of projects done. You can do this right in your very own shop or garage and right on the kickstand. Plus, have the absolute satisfaction of wrenching on your own Harley!

    Ryan, what is the secret to getting a new clutch cable into that case on a 2015 FLHP? My son and I tried for 2 hours to get it to screw on. It's not even trying to cross-thread. Does a new cable not fit a 2015 case?

    Great video Ryan. Slight problem I'm having though, I'm trying to put the new clutch cover on but the cable wire doesn't stretch far enough to get it into the right position. In it's current position, the clutch has far too much play and doesn't spring back once I let go of it. Did you encounter this?

    • @ryanurlacher1553
      @ryanurlacher1553 Před 8 lety

      Reach up to your clutch hand lever and make sure it's all the way out. That will give you the cable you need.

      I just did on my ‘13 E Glide with stock headers. I used Snap On Allen wrenches; they’re small enough to fit with just the heat guard off. And with the bike on its stand you don’t lose more than an ounce of transmission fluid.

    My clutch cable and protective covering is always wet with oil. Seems like the oil is coming out where the cable goes into the nut that screws into the cover. Don't think it's the oring but the cable jacket itself. Your thoughts?

      Hard to say without being there, but it sounds like you might need to replace your cable. The coupling may be defective.
