With the popularity of the Nissan Z and Infiniti platforms skyrocketing the past few years the G37 is definitely a platform many people overlook. The G35 and the 350Z have gotten most of the love lately, but what about the Infiniti G37? I've actually never driven the G37 coupe, but have driven a G37x with a big turbo making 600HP - so how does it compare? Let's go for a drive and find out.

O'doyle rules..
It’s moments like these where David has once again posted a video about a car I’ve spent way too much time researching lately
I have a 37 and i love this car sm
I've had 2 HR 350z, and a g37 s coupe 6 speed. They're all great cars and have altima like reliability and enough power
Facts he's been on his grind honestly covering all types of cars and cultures I love it. He's a unbiased friendly platform for people to show off their cars.
Get one I did in January and they are great cars, 7500 redline too and it loves to rev
I love my g37
Idk if I'm just becoming more reasonable in my older age but I love street cars in that 450-650whp range more than enough power to have a blast yet manageable and relatively reliable, if the suspension and brakes are built to match then boom perfect street car 👌
Honestly anything above 400ish wheel just becomes more annoying to drive than anything imo. I did it only once and I had to be really serious about how I was handling that thing.. not that you shouldn't be alert no matter what, but you have to be god mode alert when handling that much power lol
300whp is more then most people need or can reasonably handle lmao, especially in the smaller car.
@@Perry.... I 100% agree. I was fortunate enough to drive a C6 ZR-1 once upon a time and I don't think I ever got past half throttle. Even with that, I still almost lost it once because of the way that engine pulls so strongly from so low down combined with a fairly light rear end.
@@AliceC993 Jesus Christ dude. My friend told me his 2020 hellcat red-eye Challenger slimbody is Soo rowdy,he was like dude if you don't watch out traffic is gonna come faster then you think, seriously.
As I get older i realize how important brakes are
The supercharger gives the VQ37 such a beautiful sound 🤤
That single exit too
Ahh a screaming whining trumpet
@@kW_789 edited
Its the single exit that does it for the sound of the exhaust. Wonder if its running test pipes or long tubes, either way sounds really good.
These kind of bulids remind us how amazing the VQ platform is. People shit on them so much but get the right owner and budget and you'll have one of the most underrated builds out there
I went from a lifted 7.3 f250 to a lowered g37 recently and it’s been absolutely amazing, great car.
I went from a Supra A90 to a Jeep Rubicon 🥲 i made a mistake
@@armandocardona6975 🤣
@@armandocardona6975 boy wtf did you do😂you misread the instructions for sure
@@armandocardona6975 Oh noooo lmao. At least try to have some off road fun, i guess 🥲
@@jackryan4313 I moved to a USA city with worse streets than Ukraine….
Infinity really messed up not offering the new q60 in manual to continue this awsomeness for the next generation.
There’s news of them sending off this generation q60 with a final edition with the 9 speed auto and the 6 speed from the new Z
@@hexicalcat4937 actually?
@@hexicalcat4937 that would be sick. I know you can manual swap the current one but i really dont feel like doing manual swaps anymore(ive done 4 in the past lol) so id just be a sucker and buy a new one lol!
@@em2attic question, why wouldn't you do it again? just curious because my brother is thinking about swapping his sc300.
@@taf005 i swapped a sc300 and a sc400 both pretty easy but i dont feel like doing it because i work too much now and i just wanna enjoy driving vs wrenching. Ill do suspension mods and wheels but idk i just dont have the motivation for a trans swap. Maybe ill get it back one day lol
Imo the best looking out of the vq cars is the g37. The 370z looks cool and the 350 isn’t bad either but the g37 looks the best
Have to agree especially with the IPL bumpers and sideskirts
the frontend on the g37 is its only weak point imo the rest is stellar
Better than a modified Q50? 😏
I feel centrifugal superchargers are underrated. You get the boost level potential of a turbo with the response similar to a supercharger yet you can tuck em almost anywhere.
Agreed
Who's underrating them? they're F-ing awesome!
As a VQ owner, I appreciate this video! :D
The sound from this car is insane!! The BPV is sooo loud!
I really enjoyed the back seat view. Was new and something different to enjoy. Would love seing this used in videos to come.
Just as I was extensively researching a g37 coupe manual… wonderful timing David.
I've got one. Best car I've had besides a 370hp s15. Absolute blast. Can't wait to Sc, turbo or vr30 swap it.
I always appreciate the bass and wubz in your intros😮💨🤘🏼
Your smile with the echo in the wood is amazing, shining
Wow, this thing is insane! Great review
I’m a much bigger fan of the 37’s than the 35’s, they really are a step up in look and feel. Would love a boosted G37 hard top convertible, since Infiniti doesn’t make drop tops anymore :(
I had one but crashed it it was amazing get one while you still can
My wife and I own a blue 10’ g37 drop top. Infiniti still sends me mail wanting to buy it the last 5 years or so. Never getting rid of it. Lol
@@seanbarron3778 I would absolutely love that lmao how far along into the build are ya?
G35 DE all day
Well go out and get one while they're still affordable. With legislation shoving EV's and hybrids down everyone's throats they aren't going to get any cheaper.
I personally have the 2004 G35 coupe.. I've owned it a Lil over a year now, back in March. I've always thought these cars looked amazing. I'm learning a lot about working on them as I have done several lil mods to esthetics, suspension and cooling. I get compliments on it everywhere I go, whether it's parked at my work, around town and even at car shows. Honestly, when I park the car, I have to take a few steps and then look back at it. I really enjoy it that much. The list of future mods are just about endless, including super charger and airlift system. I'm also thinking about my next G35, as I would also like to do a motor swap with an LS or put the Nissan V8 in with a manual Trans in.
You been on your grind man. Love from north Carolina.
I’ve been driving my Tacoma for awhile now… Had a tuned 2015 vw cc with a couple bolt ons for a little while in highschool but kinda grew away from the car culture for awhile. Don’t get me wrong I still love cars and working on my truck, but for the first time in awhile, seeing Matt’s reaction over this really makes me want to build up another car!
Love this ride. Having one delivered on Tuesday 55k miles. Never modified. Can't wait.
I saw the thumbnail and was like is that my car lol nope just looks like it. Nice ride, dont see to much g37s and i just fking love them! Sweet ride dude! One Love
You need to get Nitish21 on your channel for his single Turbo G35 it’s insane
Yes 👌🏼
Dudeeeeeee yes
Absolutely
Nitish Or Freshhkiicks
Nitish G35 wild af. 😂 Same with all his friends G's and Z's on his channel.
infiniti boys about to have a a field day with this video
They’re gonna be revving their VQ trumpets all hours of the night in celebration LOL
In before popcorn tune
i wish i still had my g37xs limited edition, bought it for a steal, and had to sell her 2 years later 🥲
Thank you again David for the wonderful opportunity and look forward to seeing you at meets around! 💪🏻🙏🏻
Whats that intro song?????
🤣🤣🤣
All superchargers are belt driven, that's what makes it a supercharger.
Both the g37 and 370z look better than the previous models and will probably start gaining more popularity as they get cheaper, especially if they share the same chassis as the new z
Bruhhh shhhh🤣🤣 already hard enough now dude
Bro i got my G37 for 5k had to go over to Dallas to get it and drive it back to Vegas
Nismo 350z :)
hard to find them in 6 speed though sadly luckily i’ll keep my g35 6mt til i get a nismo 370z lol
Well the same chassis code, but it’s had two revisions since it was updated in 2008.
The new Z chassis is a fair bit stiffer than the outgoing generations.
Now it’s suspension is super soft for some reason but less the point.
Finally someone does a video of the G37 coupe!
Beautiful editing
Bro I've been waiting for you to review this car.
That thing sounds absolutely amazing 😩😩😩
I think I can tell when you're just being nice and when a car really hits you in the feels. This is the latter.
Finally a G37 !!! Thank you
Love G37’s, such a nice car to drive. Mine is FBO, and I’m looking to supercharge this summer.
6:27 Naww this thing is movinggg.😳 But I especially lovee the sound!! I have always been a fan of the G35 coupe, G37 coupe, 350z, and 370z. When they are setup right, quick & boosted or just some clean lookin wheels / fitment & mods ... these cars are moneyy! 😎
I have a 04 g35 coupe I’ve had it for around 4 years now & im ready to upgrade for this beast 😋
Yep that’s why I am keeping my G and boosting it in a couple
I am still rocking my 2012 G37xS, and still very satisfied.
Great review now I know that was a in gorgia so go on ahead and give up that back stress location 🔥👀
I absolutely love my G37xs coupr! Best car I've owned so far!
As a owner of a new to me stillen supercharged G37 Coupe [I'm AWD auto] and a fan of the VQ [when done right] it was interesting to hear your take on both the turbo sedan you reviewed and this one. Thank you for the great content.
*sidebar*how’s ur trans holding up??(if you’re stock trans) building an awd 37 sedan for boost but thinking of just going vr30 trans….
@@chrisphilp1208 we recommend at least a billet flex plate, trans cooler also helps. VR30 transmission is an excellent upgrade for the price though, and we haven't heard any complaints from customers we have done them for.
@@SOHOMotorsports I hope to one day have my 08 coupe done by you guys!!!!! I've been watching your stuff for awhile now and your definitely the only people I would let build my car period!!!
@Chris Philp I didn't respond because I was so new to the car (built my old NA G for 5 years). Trans Temps I monitor and am fine. I also found out I have a billet flex plate already. Stillens kit is garbage. Get sohos for sure. I've had 2 throttles die because of imbalance. But also could be the tune. I'm putting in ID1050x this winter and doing a custom front mount. Shooting for 550+awhp
I'm on my way to doing the same build. 😊. How much money did you sink into it?
“S”= VLSD, 6MT (Automatic gets magnesium paddles/early GTR paddles),fully adjustable Sport seats, Black silver interior, 4 wheel steering available on some S models, slightly lower suspension, different rocker panels/sideskirts, Sport wheels 18 or 19, Sport front bumper
And the akebono brakes
@@dylanBehrproductions 👍
I have a 2011 G37xs coupe and it is so much fun. 19in wheels, awd, sport brakes, sport seats/interior, magnesium paddle shifters like you said and then my mods and I love the car!
All this on the IPL plus the sport tuned steering and true dual exhaust and +18 HP. The front bumper shown here and different rear bumper .
Brother, been watching you for years.. should do more videos with other creators:) have a great week:)
I think the decel whooshing of the Vortech would drive me nuts on this thing. Awesome build though lol
Yeah I feel like it would get a little annoying eventually
That "brushed chrome" is actually real Aluminum trim. I have it in my 06 G35S sedan too
Yo David! The music you're putting in the intros of these car reviews is always getting me super hyped. No better way to start a video. Thanks bro. Would be awesome if you could list the track in the description. Would love to play these in the gym.
A lowered 37 with the right fitment and front lip looks reallly good
I own a g37 as well since new in 2013 and honestly it's been a blast, got the same headlights:)
Is it a seden??
Definitely been a G37S fan ever since I saw spoiled kids back in my college days with new G37S coupes. Especially in that OEM blue they come in. Thought everything was an immense improvement on the G35, which I felt was always really quick to look worn out, poorly taken care of, ratty, and ghetto looking. The 37s are just a step up in every way. Still a fan of them of them today. The coupes still look awesome, but I would also take a sedan any day.
Yep I always loved the g35 in blue tho lol
37 sedans are lighter than the coupes somehow
I never thot for once it would "break up" when the power just keeps on coming back baby!
OMG, that thing sounds mean!! love it! 😁
I love my 2015 Q60 (rebadged G37). I drive it always with the paddles. The locking trans stayed locked over 2500 and shifts well. The rev match on downshifts and the best sounding v6 ever is intoxicating.
I have the AWD and think it is fantastic. It is RWD unless they start to slip in which case the power gets applied gently to the fronts until 50/50. With good tires it is fast off the line and it handles very well with double wish bone up front and multilink rear. Other than consumables there is zero maintenance. What is not to like?
Supercharged G37s AWD is literally the "grown man" STi.
With open diffs front and rear not really. I had a rwd 6mt G37s my had cousin the same car but the auto and awd. Different steering rack ride height etc. IMHO a manual RWD G remains the better car for driving dynamics. Grown up Z car.
I'm a grown man who just picked up a FX50s.
@@Sir.VicsMasher pull down your pants I want it
@@Sir.VicsMasher People have no idea how rare those are
The AWD is wack in my opinion, only works up to 12 mph if it detects slip :/
So sick! Videos like this make me want to boost my g so bad lmao
Thank you David, the Chrysler 300C reveal just ruined my night and you saved it.
LMFAOOOOO SAME. i thought they were coming back with something atleast SRT related
That car sounds lovely 🔥🔥🔥
VQ noises intensify🎺🎺
TRUMPET POWERS UNITE!
As a g37s owner I like the practicality and body a bit more then the Z I’m also a taller guy so it’s fits me perfectly the body lines especially the IPL body is flawlessss
I'm a big fan of the g37 coupe. I am also very biased, and also have plans to do the v2 Soho kit on mine
ive always loved Zs and Gs ive owned a g35 a 350z and i currently have the g37 coupe and like it the most of the 3 imo
I have a q50 and the way you talk about the powerband of this thing makes me want a supercharger
We did just release our V2 A2A supercharger for Q50 a little while back :)
They are great cars a lot of inexperienced people are ruining the scene for many but most definitely one of the best cars u can buy for 10-20k
Out in nyc the g37 is loved tremendously and we got all types out here
amazing sounds!! I owned 2014 q60s 6 manual transmission!!
I own an 08’ G37s in white with the same headlights. I like the G37 better than the G35. Better looks and engine than previous years.
I cant wait for my g37 to sound like this ❤
THATS IT!! DAVID NEEDS ONE!! IN FACT ONE OF EVERYTHING IS MORE LIKE IT 😁
Best sounding VQ ever? I've never heard such a nice high pitched non trumpetey tone from a VQ before!
Literally sold my G37 Anniversary Edition 2 weeks ago and got a q50s now david is making me miss mine STOP PLS
One of my best friends has an old g35 with the stillen roots kit... Makes right around 400 wheel. That car is so much fun definitely doesn't need more power... Also the sound of the roots blower is sooo tasty
Was it the vq35de engine or revup/hr ?
@@kami_dred7319 it's a 2004 so it's the regular vq35de
@@kami_dred7319 interesting story with that car.... He bought it used with the supercharger kit already on it, but no tune or anything, making less power than stock and with a slipping belt so when it would get into boost it would bog. He fixed the belt tension issue and got it tuned, made like a little over 300 wheel... Drove it for awhile like that and had some kind of problem with the fuel system so he swapped up to r35 gtr pump and injectors... Maybe coil packs too? Don't remember.... Threw a smaller upper pulley on and had it tuned again and he's around 400 wheel now and definitely does not want or need more power 😂😂
@@doctajuice how long has it been since he’s had 400hp ? Would you say it’s somewhat reliable?
@@kami_dred7319 it's been like 7 years or so but he dailies a motorcycle. He takes the car when it's raining or when he wants to get a drive in so the mileage is pretty low since the 400hp. The car is at like 120k miles at this point I think? Hasn't had any issues since the fuel system update though, except for a few small (but ridiculously expensive bc g35) things like headlights and somebody tagged him in a parking lot so he had to replace a dented rear bumper. I get to drive it semi-regularly because he's always worried that a road trip might be too much for it so any time he goes out of town we just swap cars. I drive a lightly modified 9th gen civic si so not fast bust still fun and reliable as hell. Like I said though as much as he's worried about the reliability, no issues so far
I love my G37s Sedan. My only regret is I wish it was manual but paddle shifters are fine. Slammed with full exhaust, intakes and soon to be tuned by Martin. Also looking into the Soho Lyte Supercharger Kit but not sure if I want to spend 8k lol
ah, after all these years i finally get my review on a g37s! imo opinion the g37 is more subtle nice and it's not all in your face, if you work on it it'll look really clean. It's not much more, but i like that i can put more stuff in my car than a z. I got the 13 hardtop convertible with a manual!
What sucks is paying CZcams for no ads only to get ads by our fav Ops...so now I'm paying for ads.
VQ for life! Long live the Internal Combustion Engine
Long Live ICE might get a sticker on my car that says so
Ik this video is a few months old but I thought I’d mention, since you asked why the viewers thought about the 37 and I’m a new owner of a 11’ G37 xS coupe and I bought it for the LOW LOW price of $1,700.00. Yes your reading that right one thousand seven hundred dollars, 85k on the odometer it was in a front end collision but I bolted a new reinforcement on the front used the same bumper and put it on the road… I didn’t replace the airbags but I think the price I paid speaks to how little people care about the G37
Having owned an 03 G coupe and now thrashing an 08 G coupe, they're kinda different cars IMO. The G35 felt much more lively than the G37, but my G37 was definitely much more comfortable on the long drives.
Had similar setup on a 97 3.0 max. Stillen supercharger wakes the car up. Sounds amazing and 3rd gear is crazy. I miss it and look forward to it in the future. G37 over G35 all day.
Those 3.0s you couldn't get them to burn oil ! And The 3.0 dett in the 300zx is where its at !
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 I had 0 issues with oil burning on all 3 of my 3.0 maxima's. That knock sensor was a PITA though :)
I got a 08 G37 coupe on 20 in niche rims and upgraded tesla screen along with GT-R headlights and has something done to the exhaust it sounds amazing engine is stock tho but I do want to build it someday if I get the funds, I can tell you one thing is imo it handles and drives better then my 09 335i coupe which I didn't think was possible but I definitely like it more although you can get to 500 hp way easier on the N54 for way less money, it just needs more expensive things done to it to make it reliable which wasnt fun, I would still have it if it wouldn't have gotten stolen I'm lucky I was able to pick up a g37 coupe it all happened luckily and I couldn't be happier to have it now!!
Aye g fam in the peach state 🤝
I got a 08 g35x and I'm in love 💕
I swear the only time I catch your videos is when you post a status or whatever with it 🤔
David, could you find some people with prerunner trucks to review?
I’m really curious about high horsepower full size trucks that can rip around in an all purpose manner.
I love both. Own a 370z about to get a g37x coupe as a second car.🤘
As an owner of a G35, Q50 and a 370z.
For me a few years ago it was price. I picked my 2012 370z up in 2016 for 22k with 19k miles at that time G37 sold for a few grand above that for same performance almost.
Only reason I never been a 370z fan is because they never made a exciting model for 10 plus years but kudos to any VQ Loyalist like myself .....😂😂😂 I have three 350z's n a G37s Coupe love all VQ Platforms
that "bABAAA" at 2:47 had me creamin 😩
Where do you recommend purchasing the Vortech kit from? Can you order direct? I have a G37X 2013...coupe

Great video. I own a G37 coupe & love the way it handles stock. But mine won't stay stock 4 long. I'm just sayin'.....
Wow that car sounds good
Boosted vq's sound soooooooo good
The G37 definitely got my attention ... my current daily with FBO and E85! 😁
Around how many mpg do you get ?? I’m thinking about getting one not sure
@@danielfelix5298 honestly, if mpg is a concern, this may not be the vehicle for you. I'd say my average on 93 octane is around 19mpg combined. On E85, probably getting about 15mpg ... but more power and it's cheaper lol. Just depends on what's important to you. I got the G coupe because I love the way they look, drive, and how reliable they are. Some other great options would be a Lexus IS350 or Acura TL Type-S, those might be a little better on fuel economy too.
@@danielfelix5298 if you do land on getting a G though, look at 2012-2013 models as those have been revised and are more reliable. Or you could look at a 2015 Q40/Q60 ... They are the still G cars in the 2015 year, but the name carried over to Q for some reason ... Those would be the newest G's you can get!
That men Kevin !!!
Goals to do something like this to my 6mt Sedan in the far future
Having a g37ipl i have big trouble by not knowing if i buy a others g37 drift missile or super charge my current one
Dope review on g37 David👌.. coming from a manual g35 owner I prefer g35 way better 💪
G35 soooo pretty
VQ GO BRRRR & makes me *happy*
G37 Differentials-3.69 final drive ratio for the Manual (old 5 speed automatic also had 3.69 final drive, 7 speed auto got the 3.3 final drive, G37 S hard top convertible got the 3.91 final drive ratio. All of it is swappable only difference between auto and manual is you might have to swap the output shafts.
Ipl did not have a 3.9, the auto and manual have the same diff as the sport models
Only the convertible sport and convertible ipl had the 3.9
That explains why a G37 S vert put up more then I expected vs my 7 speed sedan. Didn't realize they used a different FD ratio.
@@solocamo3654 Think they had to give it that more aggressive ratio because of the extra weight
