Also, fun fact about the Relicanth's hexagon: It's body markings are a map of Hoenn, and that red dot points to where the cave is that you trigger the Regis

I've never felt more pride than I did recognizing that Relicanth was missing the red spot
I noticed it was missing the red spot as well but then gaslit myself into thinking “well, they wouldn’t change actual designs of pokemon, they’re just altering the colors”. I was 99% positive there was supposed to be a red dot. I still want to count that as a point because what they showed *technically* wasn’t Relicanth. It was an incorrect pokemon, not an incorrect shiny.
Only reason I knew was because I had a shiny relicanth in oras

One of my absolute FAVORITE things about Sharpedo (and unfortunately it's something that was restricted to a single pair of games) is that if you use it for Surfing in ORAS, it'll show you actually riding your Sharpedo (including whether it's shiny or not), and actually makes you surf a bit faster
Same with lapras who is one of my favourite water type Pokémon so i was lucky on that

I didn't realize Sableye changed that much in gen 3!! Missed the Relicanth one as well. This was definitely the hardest one so far
Sharpedo is an AWESOME Pokémon. Here’s why.
1. Sharks need to move to breathe, sort of, and torpedoes also need to move
2. Sharks are portrayed as objects of destruction, so are torpedoes
3. His mega has like INFINITE TEETH. That’s awesome! It’s because when sharks lose teeth, they have teeth behind their teeth that move into place almost right after.
4. Sharpedo is the Brutal Pokémon, which sounds menacing and cool
5. Sharks are awesome animals
6. At least seven Pokédex entries call it, “The bully of the sea”. Name one other Pokémon that has a menacing nickname. I bet you could but it wouldn’t have the popularity of Sharpedo’s nickname
7. He goes 75 mph. That’s fast which obviously translates to cool
8. When it mega evolves, it can go 125 mph. As stated previously, this means it’s even cooler
9. It defies natural evolution because it’s a piranha that becomes a shark torpedo. I bet you can’t do that.
10. I just really like it

With lunatone my thought process was “Salamance and Metagross good, Solrock feels like a shiny that doesn’t change much, so that leaves lunatone”
Also, the red hexagon on Relicanth is like, X marks the spot! Its markings suggest a treasure map, and that's where the treasure is hidden! Pretty sure it's specifically pointing to the cave where the Regis are since you need Relicanth as part of the whole puzzle to unlock them. Its regular colouration is old and dusty and its shiny form gives the ocean colour. It's such a cool design that I only recently began to truly appreciate.
Sharpeedo is awsome; rough skin ability, the style, the double typing DUDE. What's not to love
Also it's the second coolest looking water pokemon(excluding starters and legendaries) in Gen3 imho
A half of its body missing... that's what's not to love there, like, literally 😂 just imagine it being a full fledged shark with an actual tail. Why did they have to chop it in half 😂 also they should make an orca and a hammerhead shark pokemon too.

it just doesn't look complete. it's based off of a torpedo, why is it so blocky and chunky? Veluza and Barraskewda/Arrokuda pull off the torpedo thing WAY better

I'm pretty sure the reason relicanth has the red spot is because it was based on the 'living fossil' fish called the celucanth which was thought to be extinct. It was found off of the coast of Japan which is why they put the red spot as a reference to the place it was found
while i also believe the red dot is meant to be a location marker, as the other markings on relicanth do look a bit like land formations, it wouldnt stand for japan. coelacanth arent found anywhere near japan- theyre found in the waters along the eastern side of africa, mostly around madigascar, and theres a second extant species found in a relatively small area of indonesia. but ultimately coelacanth are not found nor live anywhere near japan. my best guess is that the red mark is just a general mark that is small compared to the other markings to indicate that the habitats for coelacanth are pretty small.

The overall blue shiny coloration is also most likely a reference to the coelacanths it’s based on, as while they’re usually brown there were some cases where they were found with a more vibrant blue coloration.
As a sharpedo enthusiast, it’s is one of the coolest water types, with the mechanic in the isle of armor, while annoying, was kinda cool
13:46 I am 100% on board with Tos and Mimik, I was also very confused between Salamence and Lunatone. Metagross' shiny is iconic and Solrock is one of those that you see once and never forget about it, so it could only be those other two options.
Interesting. It was the opposite for me, I though Lunatone was more likely to be real than Solrock. I didn’t fully rule out Salamance though, I thought the wings might have been a little less saturated

same. and then I felt fairly comfortable with that being Salamence's shiny and so went with Lunatone
I love a classic Noki plot twist. Tos and Mimik also being complete troopers for dealing with Noki's master trickery. Love you all❤
this quiz was SO good! this one was the hardest by far, also the swellow's feet being green seemed so off I feel like a lot of people including myself got that correct from nothing but pure luck

Oh man, some of your edits are honestly really clever. The saturation is exactly what clued me in when it came to #6, plus the one before that, and my thought process was exactly what you described when you explained your intent. Leaving a deliberate "tell" like that for a medium-difficulty question is great planning.
This is also the first one I've watched so far where I managed to get all of them right! Even though my reasoning on the last one was definitely way off. I was split on question 7, but funnily enough at the last second I remembered that I've drawn fanart of shiny Electrike before, so I knew for sure what that looked like, haha.
AAAAA Relicanth is one of my favourite Pokémon!!! I screamed when at Question 11 because I immediately knew the red spot was missing. I'm pretty sure its supposed to represent a compass, and the spots on the body make a map!
I cannot get enough of these challenges between Mimik and Tos, y'all have such great banter and energy. Congrats on the W Tos, this episode was unbelievable haha

Honestly sharpedo was one of the coolest, i searched the 7 seas looking for it and was stoked to find the carvana. The end of my first playthrough of sapphire, my team was overlapping with too many water types. When i got to kyogre, i had already sided with archie.
Sharpedo was my first full odds shiny back in the day, I love the design tbh as a cool shark torpedo and the purple is pretty striking.
It's so funny that I got the question about Relicanth right for the right reason. He's a Pokemon that I would never have noticed if it weren't for that super random red spot on his body. I'm always left wondering what the hell is supposed to be.
I remembered there being a red part on Relicanth that wouldn’t just disappear on the shiny, but I didn’t remember it being a little hexagon. I thought a part of one of his fins was red.
I am LIVING for Tos’s drawings and I’m glad Mimik got in on the silly little drawings too
I’m actually really happy for tos, I’ve been rooting for him ever since I watched the first shiny Pokémon quiz (mainly cuz I don’t really shiny hunt so I don’t know like any of the answers except for the easy questions 😅) so it makes me very happy to see him win, congrats tos!

NOKI!!! You’ve really outdone yourself with this one! The snappy intro, the excellent editing, and of course the questions! This is definitely the most I’ve gotten wrong on any of your quizzes, but somehow probably the most fun I’ve had too. And the idea to end each section with the gen 3 pixel art shinies is genuinely genius and beautiful. Well done big dog!

I have Solroc's shiny in my head, because (just like solgaleo) it's based off a red giant and this fact has refused to leave my brain the whole week. I was second guessing myself with Salamence cause you said 'be careful'
That Relicanth I swear. I was staring at it the whole time thinking “wait, doesn’t it have a red dot on it? Does it lose it in its shiny? Why doesn’t it look right?” And it was REALLY bothering me 😂

I was so proud of myself for noticing the missing relicanth spot. I’m so annoyed though. I got everything up until #13 when I thought Kecleon was wrong. I even got the bonus right! Heckin Kecleon.

Let me tell you why Sharpedo is actually one hell of a guy. In sword I was shiny hunting Sharpedo in the sea because they constantly rush you. I actually found one somewhat early, and...I accidentally murdered him😢 since the hunt up to that point wasn't so bad, I just kept going. Not even 10 minutes later another one crashed into me. I was amazed to say the least, but that one I actually caught.
Dude! I knew Poochyena eyes were blue! I was picturing the sprite in my head! That's not fair! Still got 9 points tho. That Vibrava shiny looks sooo sick too, but I knew it wasn't real :)

That fake shiny kyogre looks incredible. It needs to be real. I like the pink of the true shiny but that black is amazing, and it adds to the orca aesthetic.

I ended up with six wrong which is pretty good for someone who doesn't actively shiny hunt. Funnily enough, the Gardevoir and Ralts really are purple in the gamecube games so I think it would be fun to do a shiny quiz on those specifically since most of the shinies are flat out different to their cartridge counterparts.
10 points! Seriously proud of myself... though Taillow was a COMPLETE guess, and Sableye I thought the eyes just looked way too vibrant, had no idea he was different back in gen 3!
I was down to a 50/50 on the bonus question and panic picked nosepass when the pencils were ripped out of our hands.. so that's half a point right? :)
Edit: Totally didn't post this before I saw the cast form question, though I did kinda insta lock D because I felt 100% sure about the top two then just said "Those are grappaloct's colors" about D so, I went with that and said it was the fake one...
After seeing this quiz going back to older quizzes i almost picked Taillow when it showed up again remembering this one
I honestly was so confused with the castforms and thought it was some kind of spec lol I knew all of them had to be real.
I’ve never really thought of myself as a shiny expert or anything but I still ended up getting 12 right with the relicanth and sableye being the ones I missed. Really fun quiz!

Sharpedo is such a goat!! He's literally the object of water speed in later games, that purple shiny with the the gen 3 effect, spheal line, kyogre! Just an awesome design for a pokemon, i always hunted for him in ORAS, I used the think it was weird that he didnt have a tail but i think that was for the best. An overall goated pokemon, Carvanha's cool too, and that fake shiny INSTANTLY caught my eye! Maybe its Gen 3 bias but Sharpedo is a good pokemon!
Sharpedo’s flat back is cool to me and using a shark’s existing fins to create that torpedo plus-shape is clever, plus it’s a shark and sharks are cool, plus torpedos are cool, and going fast is really cool
For question 12, when you started talking about how no one would get it right, I was so confident because I vividly remember poochyena's eyes being blue and I was so ready to comment that I legitimately got it right lol

After a 12 streak, 13 had me scared because of the "single pixel" thing. I was SURE i was wrong because I was sitting over here thinking "I thought he was darker" XD
My streak that would have ended up into a near perfect score (because i for some brain fart reason had grovyle wrong.) Was ruined by dustox, a Pokémon that is one of my least favourites.
I love sharpedo because in the Pokémon rangers series it is really difficult to catch and it feels rewarding when you actually manage to outsmart it and catch it
These are legit so fun and the amount of effort to choose the diff shinies for each q is amazing, please keep making more!

By some miracle I got it right and got 8 of 11 questions right
After having completely FAILED the Hard section, the fact that I was able to do #11 with such ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE was incredibly reinvigorating for me. XD
I only knew it because I'm working on a Pokemon D&D thing and one of the NPCs I had a friend design for me was the answer to this question, haha.
My final score is 7 points!
I literally picked the exact same answers for every question as Mimik in this quiz. Idk how, but the one I eventually picked always turned out to be the same one as Mimik's one.

What an insane quiz. The sprite differences from gen 3 to now is crazy for some and got me triple checking. 10/14 this time round but next time itll be 11+ :)

I’m so happy I found ways to distinguish terrible shinys from their originals, or fakes. Here are the ways to distinguish the four bonus pokemon:
Regice: Deeper blue vs. a light blue
Wormadam: Navy blue under shade, Baby-ish blue in light vs a grey
Gengar: Very washed out coloring vs. a nice bright purple
Garchomp: Glaringliny bright orange stomach, also washed out outside body (regular is usually a nice navy blue) vs. a red stomach
Castform is literally my favorite Pokemon, so when it got to the end, and I saw all four, I straight up thought the trick was gonna be about how Rainy, Sunny, and Snowy actually didn't have shiny forms back in Gen 3 (In fact, they didn't have shiny forms until Home/BDSP)

I made only one mistake, it was that damn og sableye, the fact that you managed to make the actual shiny in the og sprite really got me. I never knew the og sableye was brown hth lmao.

So I love the video but the only issue I had was the thumbnail, I was expecting the 3rd Gen quiz to look more like the previous 2 gens so I got a little confused looking for the next one in the series
I was so confident on Kecleon cause of the TM shop keeper in Mystery dungeon... dang it...
