  • An update to the popular SFB Field, the Nike SF Field 2 Boot borrows more heavily from military design than Nike's typical sneaker lineup. If you're looking to draw on these kinds of looks without looking like an Airsoft enthusiast, this might be the shoe for you.

Antwon - these ARE military boots. Not just a military boot with ‘a Nike twist.’ Some US armed forces ACTUALLY wear these (or a military contract ‘version’ of these). My brother in law is entering the US Air Force as an officer, and was actually made to purchase the Nike SFB boot as they’re standard.

This is my first real piece of “techwear” footwear and I’ve been really drawn to the more military-driven side of it so these were a pretty easy choice for me to make. They are relatively comfortable provided you get the right size and are far more stylish compared to just a standard surplus boot imo.

Also i love the riggidity of boots. Get something a tad bigger and make up for it with either wool socks or some such. Also found out all those fancy supports in soles affect your arch support as you get older. (Cuz muscles and stuff that normally get stronger with use, aren't cuz they're being supported.)

I personally have Nike SFB Gen 2 as I was going for something more breathable and I absolutely love them.
The insole that follows is not the best, I switched mine out for the 5.11 Ortholite insole that I had already broken in from another pair of boots. This mix made for the perfect every day shoe/boot that I have very few complaints about.
I love the design on the Field 2 but the more rigid and less breathable upper parts made me go with the Gen 2 instead as I prefer sticking to one pair of shoe at a time so I went with something that could be used all year around.
Sadly the Gen 2 is near impossible to get in some countries within the EU so I was lucky to get some off of Ebay from the US in my size.
Pairing some of these with Enfin Leve bottoms(I have the lantz cargo pants) makes for an excellent outfit even with just a tshirt on.

Actually issued boots of the past 15 years such as older Altamas or McRae are notoriously long wearing over import and or individual purchased authorized footwear in the US forces. Vibram soles, Cordura 1000, Nomex, Urethane midsoles, cattlehide combine to make for a tough pair that will outwear boots like the SFB or equivalent.

As someone who served. Sadly your hypothesis on the quality is wrong. Those surplus boots you showed were „floppy“ because they have a different design with no leather in the collar. Those last a couple of years, the Nikes usually months. Their quality is heavily worse then standard issue products, as these aren‘t tested by anyone but Nike themselves.

They're nice but none of the hundred colorways match Nike quality and they're hardly comfortable. The breathable holes make them less practical as winter boots, and to top it off on Amazon they marked all of them as "Women Nike" even though they're in men's sizes. They kind of fixed the quality ripping issue with the high Baroque Brown version but I have it so I can definitely say that comfort was sacrificed. The material causes your socks to go down (somehow) and your pants to make you uncomfortable over long periods, and they are much more restrictive. The boot will likely still fall apart just as fast as the other ones too.

No these boots are the worst in actual combat the only time people wear these boots in the army is when you're at Garrison do not use these boots. I think they even stopped selling them at clothing and sales.

I love the look of these and they look similar to my nike (acg?) waterproof winter boots. Especially on the sole. If people are looking for a cleaner future look with their techwear I would suggest looking at motorcycle and or ski/snowboarding type winter boots. What's wrong with the cosplay style of techwear man?

1/2 size down on a Nike? Man that's scary every Nike I've ever own I have to go 1/2 size up. I wanna get one of these for work and the only way is by order but the sizing is throwing me off 🤕

Honestly prefer the lack of new cushion tech since they're often too soft for boots. The last thing we want in a pair of boots is for them to start bottoming out or us to fall over when trying to balance ourselves cause it compressed when we put out weight on it. These a tough, durable and suit the purpose well, they shouldn't have to pander to sneakerheads just cause they're Nike's. Only way I would accept advanced cushion tech is if they put a thin layer of it under the foot above the midsole sort of like a second insole.

i fail to see the mesh you are referring to. the nike website description says it’s leather and nylon canvas upper. if you are referring to the holes on the leather that’s either design or for ventilation but that’s not mesh fabric.

That sucks, surprised they don't have a proper size range.
Based on the outsole I imagine they'd be better than most shoes but not had a chance to test them properly yet, it's barely rained in the last month or two over here
