Just heard a very touching story from Yankee play man, Michael Kay, about how Yogi used to drive every day to the Assisted Living Home that The Scooter lived at towards the end of his life. To comfort the very sick & scared Rizzuto, Yogi would hold his friend's hand until Phil fell asleep. Two of the nicest men that I had the great honor to meet. R.I.P. Yogi & Scooter.

I've never seen Kay break down like that, shows how good of a person Yogi was and how he was genuine in and out of the limelight. R.I.P.

The Reese, Rizzuto debate will go on as long as the Mays, Mantle and Snider debate. Who was better? To me, they were all great.

My former boss at work fought in World War II, and one time during the war he played in a basketball game against a team Phil was on. A guy on my boss's team got hurt bad and lost a couple teeth. He was laid up a few days because of it. The next morning after it happened he had a visitor who came to see how he was doing and wish him well. The visitor was Phil Rizzuto. Rest in peace you sweet soul.

I remember first hearing his broadcast in 1977-78 when I was 7-8. He was one of the first teachers I ever had preaching the fundamentals of baseball. While my playing career ended when I received my H.S. Diploma, I will teach my son what he taught me.
    Rest In Peace.

Yogi's athletic accomplishments while legendary , record setting and we'll chronicalled
Yogi Berra's character and personality has overshadowed these world class feats of strength and conditioning - it takes a lot of courage and toughness to be a catcher in the Big Leagues-
The position is part psychology, part intuitiveness , and a lot of savy mixed in with durability and a strong arm with good eyes - Yogi , you'll always be one of my favorite Ballplayers
And People -Please Say hello to Billy and the Mick for me and give a wave to Papaw cause I'm sure he's watching right behind home plate -

I grew up listening to Rizutto, White and Messer. As a 10 year old, the scooter made you interested in the game with the "Holy cows" and getting exited and raise his voice when the Yanks made a great play in the field or got a hit. When Phil got excited, as a kid , I got excited. He made me a baseball fan. I still watch old Yankee games on You-tube just to hear Phil, Bill, and Frank... R.I.P. Yogi and Phil

How good is that we lovers of baseball get so choked up when we lose someone that we feel is almost part of our extended family. Another anecdote about Yogi is that when Joe Dimaggio was to Marilyn Monroe Yogi quipped: I am not sure this is good for baseball but it sure beats the hell out of rooming with Phil Rizzuto. Farewell Yogi we are going to miss you so much.

First and foremost, I am a fan of the game. I love the history of it. I miss playing it. All the time, when I was a kid I would play, always behind home plate cause I was too slow to do anything else.
Second, I'm a Cubs fan. Proud of it no matter what. Thats just me.
Third, I have a lot of respect for the Yanks, especially during Yogi's era. All the great Yanks like Yogi, Whitey, Don, Phil, Roger, Moose, Elston, Billy and especially Mickey. Man, thats a great lineup.
    I love this game.

Very sad to see Yog lose his best friend. I can only imagine how painful that was for him. I loved watching games back in the day when I was a kid and Scooter was doing play by play. As bad as our Yanks were in the late 80's and early 90's, he always kept things entertaining. Some great summer memories of those days!:-)
