- Today I discuss 3 things that I wish I knew before purchasing a Tesla model 3 performance. Hope you find this video helpful.
Time Stamps:
Charging the Battery: 0:00-2:19
Range: 2:19-5:15
Insurance: 5:15 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
It’s better to display the range as a percentage compared to distance. It’s more accurate
Yes😂I learned that
I'd seriously think about moving closer to work or work closer to home! I've never worked more than 15 miles from home except for a temporary job and then I got weekday accomodation nearby. My job meant I only worked at airports.
Wow! Lucky. I wish i can do that but if i were to relocate closer, a similar house to what i live in now will cost 3 Million dollars CAD, which i cannot afford LOL
@@321verykind ....then I do live in the UK and I could reach 50% of England in 3 hrs and loads of housing opportunities lol!
The brand new Long range model 3 when charged to 80% would give you about 437 kilometers. That will decrease if you're using the HVAC but not near as much as because it has a heat pump
Didn’t know that! I will wait a couple of years until it depreciates and will get my hands on it😉
Only the standard (not long range) 3 and Y use LFP batteries since they don't provide as much range. Think of charging the NCA battery to 80% daily like charging the LFP battery 100% except that if you need to, you can charge the NCA battery to 100% when you really need the range.
Makes sense, but i need the added range every day 😭
@321verykind ugh! Yeah that's not ideal. If you can securely park at work, you can save quite a bit by turning sentry off. Can you plug in at work even if it's just a 120v outlet?
@@sorka95032yes, i plug in at the 120 volt outlet at work which honestly is really handy. Btw this is my other CZcams channel account if you are wondering 😅
The performance uses a little more than the standard longrange, but not by much. My LR from 2019 does around 360km higway, 100km/hr. Only the first year it did a little more, like 400, but the promised 560 is utopian. Never came close. Also you don't wanna look to much to the numbers on the screen, just calculate. I assume that my M3 LR with 145.000km still has around 66kWh usable battery. My average consumption over all these years is 167wkm. So in average is have a range of 66 / 0.167 = 395km. And that's stable in daily use. Highways in Germany, with speeds up to 140 / 150 kmph averages around 200wkm and reduces the range to an acceptable 330km with a 100% battery. On longer trips in Germany that often means a practical range of 250km because you don't charge 100% and you don't wanna arrive > 450 km easily. There for i only charge 60% to cover my daily use, always keeping it between 30 and 60%, the absolute sweetspot for these batteries. It keeps the degradation very low without loss of practical use. Always choose an EV worth the biggest battery so you always have a nice practical range in 80% SOC. The smaller the battery, the more likely you have to charge it to high to often. And keep it in Chill mode of ECO. It saves a lot of energy AND mechanical wear.
Thankyou for the valuable information. As someone who is stilll new to electric vehicles, I’m learning something new everyday. I always leave my car in sport mode but don’t accelerate like crazy. I’m going to try out chill mode and see how it is for daily use. Thanks
if you get the long range you can charge to 80% for youre daily driving and its also cheaper and still fast enough
Model 3 long range, even the highland, is slow as shit. Don't give bad advice.
I looked at long range but they all had high mileage on them so i didn’t end up going for it. I’ve been in a sr model and it too was very quick:)
For me, anything is fast because I’m coming from a hybrid😂
@@321verykind for me it was between the Model S LR and the Plaid. Went with the Plaid and haven't regretted it.
@@TheLawIX Congrats on the purchase and indeed a great choice:)

Agreed 👍🏽
3000 miles a month is crazy!
Yes sir, i drive a lot :)
I would seriously consider trading this vehicle in on a 2024 model 3 dual motor long range the largest battery pack available. You're also going you're also going to lose range when using the heat because that's resistive heat the 2018 didn't have a heat pump which the newer ones do. How many kilowatt hours are you consuming per mile please don't tell me what it is in kilometers because I don't understand kilometers I'll be able to tell you how degraded that battery is
I have to see😂i don’t even know how to check that.
@@321verykind if it heats up instantly it's resistive heat like a toaster
