  • I was shopping at my local grocery store and had my Tesla Model Y happily plugged in to a #Tesla destination charger. This is free, so why not? I was able to add about 5kwh of energy during this charging session so I saved around $1 if I had to charge at home. It’s like finding $1 on the shelf of the grocery store during your shop, and we know how often that happens. Twenty minutes into my shop, I received a popup notification from the app saying that charging has stopped unexpectedly.
I checked the Tesla app right away and when I saw its still charging, I didn’t think much of the notification and I continued shopping. When I returned to the car 10 minutes later and checked the Sentry footage (which I normally do by the way) and lo and behold, I found someone trying to unplug the charger from my car.
In the video you can see her pulling up to park on the adjacent charging point with her damaged poverty-spec Model 3. For about 8 minutes, she tried desperately to start the charging session on her Model 3 with no luck. By the seventh minute, she probably restarted the wall connector multiple times. You can see her walking back and forth as if wanting to give up only to go back and try one last time. And then when she finally gave up, she re-emerged to the other side of the car and then out of desperation of wanting to recharge her car for free, she did the unthinkable.
Is this the d*ckest move, or is this pure genius?
To be honest after getting the notification from the tesla app. I contemplated if I should check on the car. Was that Karen’s way of getting my attention? So I would turn up to check on my car, so she can then ask me if we can swap parking spots? But thank goodness I didnt because I would know how to diplomatically manage that situation.
Has something like this happened to you before and how would you fee if it does?
