- Taking care of our 5 acre farm in northeast thailand is non stop, and some of the jobs are difficult and dangerous…
Life in Thailand after leaving the UK.
Join me on my Thailand adventure as I attempt to create a fruit farm on five acres of land, build a house, dig a well for my own water source and install solar panels to become completely off grid!
Watch me generally fumble my way through every process, trying to keep positive and upbeat throughout 🧘♂️

Fencing pliers man.. and a wire tensioner tool !! Cost you about 20 quid for the pair and will make your life 3000% easier !! Your hands and fingers will thank you !!
Tension, you made me think of seeing Thailand possibilities, even more.
I do love the DYI and always puts a smile on my face at what we could say are somewhat unconventional methods. Ben maybe you could CZcams some of these tasks to make it easier for you?
As an ex UK dairy farmer I know all the woes of 'ramblers'.
Piece of Bamboo in the roll of wire, hold with both hands and walk backwards to unroll.
Take care mate
Tension is the word.
Great JOB! Looks great!
Do you or Anna have a list of things to do, where to start in such a large piece of land…create a Quiz for the followers to suggest
Hi there
The tencity of this video was gripping🤣
Another job well done , bit by bit you’ll get it how you want it ,
Regards Davy 🏴🇹🇭
Hahaha cheers Davy 😄
👍 good job
Ben, Just trying to be helpful: first and last post try wrapping the wire around the post and then around itself so you can pull it taught AF. Also, try a stick through the roll to unwind it.
A creaky gate lasts the longest 555
You can make a frame for the wire coil. Sort of a H shape makes handling it a bit easier and you can use frame to pull tight. Get that tensity
Be careful the dogs don't mistake that Rice as a huge litter tray😂
😆😆 it’s ok we’re selling it, not eating it
@@LifeinThailand777 😂😂 That's ok then. Just be careful when you pick it all up again though 🤣🤣
Yes lol , I told him that too !
Well done Ben. Perfection is not the required standard. Rustic standard is gutentight…no straight lines in nature.
Have to admit, I love watching the pups growing up. Jealous!
A grand job that 💯
The dogs need a fence post every so often your a good man !
Your father in law was not going to tell you it looked like .... !
It's not the Thai way to offend .
You really want to know what it looks like ask a farang , they will tell you .
As long as your happy mate !
You said you were a chef back in Blighty ,you don't like to do a bit of cooking on your channel ?
Lemon trees , nurture those and get a crop and you will be on a winner sits so well with Thai cooking .
Thank you for sharing bringing great memories back to 2001! When we began again!
Best way to install barb wire, pay some else to do it,I had 900 meters X 4 strand wire, the local boys knocked over in 3 days cost 3300baht and 3 bottles loucow whiskey. Go for it ,two claw hammers best strain it tight.
❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Fantastic Ben “Doing it your way” -17 ❄️🥶longing for Thailand. 💞💞
You are a beacon of hope and people watching your DIY endeavours can all relate to you. Great effort, amazing to watch.
I think your DIY projects are my favourite thing about your channel.
I actually thought the father in-law was a just a small bit impressed.
Usually he just laughs out loud.
I liked when you said I'm clearly not a structural engineer.
Great watch
Haha thank you 😇
As always I was eager to look at the comments section of your vlogs, its great to see you working away in the heat getting your hands dirty and maybe a little cut up. No chance of you loosing face yourself bro doing these jobs your doing just shows us all your making your home your own and keeping your family safe and comfortable. Its clear by your interactions with your pups that your dogs are not just yard dogs so the bound and trust you are making with them will do you and your family well in the future as for the neighbours pack they probably cant wait to see him drop dead so they can eat him lol.
😆😆😆
I’m the same way. When you do a job that is 80% good you normally save a lot of time and a lot of money!!
Your land & house looks amazing! You & Anna sure are lucky to be living the dream! Wish my husband & I are as young as you😉 Thanks for sharing another great video 🙏🏼
Excellent demonstration of someone that clearly doesn’t know what he is doing. lol. Just taking the piss out of you. Great job. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Ben, is everything OK? You've not posted for a while mate
Hiya mark, just very busy with work. Hopefully a video out within the next hour though 🙏
Where is your other dog, I hope it is getting the same treats lol,
In Thailand, safety is like 5th or 6th. 555
Living in a farm, you better love making fences, it wont be the last time. You can use the claw of a hammer to pull the wire more tight (tensity). I might make a video about that!
Thanks for the tip!
I’ve just subscribed to your channel 👍
@@LifeinThailand777 Thanks, better than a hammer, a big rebar/crowbar, you will get a lot more leverage.
Your right you know , farms mean work , no escaping it .
You don’t want that barbed wire fence looking to professionally done. Blend in nicely with local fitting standards.
Noticed you starting to laugh at your father in law’s approval rather than him just giving you a little laugh. Mutual respect has been reached.
Haha yes 😆😆
Done well mate, more than a pretty with how your figuring out things as you go, keep up the awesomeness aye ❤️🦄❤️
coffee grounds, this is a good compost, you can also not throw away banana peel, which is also a good compost. Your fencing looks good, be proud of yourself.
Greetings from Khonkaen and Holland
Oh thanks so much 🙏
A piece of meat well seasoned with avocado and diced onion as a pocket, with fill your boots near the fence line. If you get my meaning.
It wont kill. But will unsteady a stomach
Good luck with the chicken mesh / wire. My neighbors dog eventually dug a hole underneath the chicken mesh to enter my property and steal my dog’s food since his owner only feeds him scraps or sticky rice. 🙁
Phase 2 will be booby traps like in Rambo 😆
If it works, it works... until the next flood xD
NOOOOOOnow we know you aint a farm boy :) barbed wire needs to be tensioned. perhaps on every 3 or 4th pole with a tool or a hand made pry bar. dont leave it sagging matey :) it works far better when tight i promise you
You don't need to use barb wire, I've had my farm in Southern Thailand now for 30 years never the stuff, I've seen the results of someone slipping off their bike, not nice.
YEAH YA DO.
Great videos. Which Provence do you live in?
Nong Bua Lamphu 🙏
your comments caused me a lot of "tension "
😆😆😆
FFS get a pair of pliers
Dangerous farm I don’t like this method .I love classic Thai bamboo techniques . That’s you can planting butterflies pea flowers at the bamboo too.
You not only one who has trouble with roaming dogs.
Ok.. I can't help myself. Dude you will find yourself feeling so much more confident and ready to get s#$%t done if you dress the part a bit. Proper boots, heavy pants, shirt and leather gloves. Barbed wire can f you up in a heartbeat. It would be terrible if the wire whipped around and got caught on yer berries or whatever. Anyhow, I am not a pro, but a guy that has had to string wire a bit (in hot a## Texas). Cheers and love to see your can-do mentality.
Off on a tangent question--what model is your coffee maker? Do you enjoy it?
It’s Delonghi, and yeah I really like it 🙏
After watching a sh*t-ton of bean to cup coffee maker videos I did decide to buy one, but I ended up with the Philips rather than the Delonghi. Hopefully I will enjoy mine as much as you enjoy yours. I was a coffee-snob when I lived in the US, but after 12 years in Thailand I've become a 3-in-1 guy. I'm looking forward to getting back into good coffee at home.
Good job ben go and have beer 😂
🍻
They'll deliberately hurt themselves on your barbed wire in the United States to sue you for all you got. 😅
All I’ve got is bananas 🍌
@@LifeinThailand777 They'll Take all your bananas too 🐵 lol 🤣
Try living with your in-laws that's dangerous
😆😆 I wouldn’t last the week
@@LifeinThailand777 Ive managed 6 years so far but next year we move to Chiang Mai some peace and quiet
Ben, do the two pups 🐶 pee on the drying rice 🌾? ❤️🇹🇭❤️🇹🇭❤️🇹🇭
No they’re pretty well trained now, but they do roll about in it (the rice, not the pee) 😆
One qwesttion, are you a single, ore bachelor, only see you running around alone, ok sometimes dogs follow you🤣
I’m married Michael
@@LifeinThailand777 with the dogs married 🤣
