    FYI I am 67 today and I have bought 2.4 acres (7 rai) over the last 4 yrs in Thailand with my wife.
    You should work smarter, not harder.
    When digging in the Thai, hard soil, water it first. Give it a good soaking where you're going to dig. This will make the ground much softer for you.
    Love your videos ❤

    Dear Ben! I like so much your house , your living in the peace and quiet... with the dogs! Instead I'm living in a big town : Milano-Italia. I'm born in Venice but I fall in love with my husband so I'm in Milano. Also I have a female dog Fox Terrier, so vitality and brave. I imagine my little dog and your two , togheter a run after a thief burgian!!! Be careful and be happy. Un saluto e un abbraccio da Giò!!!

    It may be hard work now but you've got the right idea, get water flowing to your trees, etc. my wife's family just dug 2 random ponds then had to spend ages on pumps and hoses to get the water around the farm, if they'd just dug 2 canals straight up the farm job been a goodun from start

    Hello Ben,
    On our land, the pond level is a direct reflection of the water table under the ground. I know this from measuring the level in my well and comparing it to the change in the pond level. They change at exactly the same rate. I will be following closely to see if your pond level rises by adding ground water, as I was considering a solar well just to feed the pond....and water the garden. Regardless, the flowing/falling water will help oxygenate your pond.
    Also, the meandering bovine eat all my plants if they have access, so I spent my first few weeks of retirement fending off cows. Good project and good video, as usual.

  • @videogenie1236
    @videogenie1236 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Water is like electricity it will take the path of least resistance. The tap had a greater resistance than the pipe did. This is because the tap bore size is narrower than the pipe. Of course, the correct course of action was to fit a second tap. Which is what you did.
    Don't run yourself down. you're learning, which a lot of people won't do.

    I really enjoy your channel. You are in Isan right? When you dig the pond, did you have to seal it, or it has enough clay in the bottom to seal it naturally? From your previous videos, the area is flooded every year, so the pond is over filled then. How low would the water level in the pond go within the season, if you don't refill it?

    • @LifeinThailand777
      @LifeinThailand777  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It naturally sealed, although it took about 1.5 years for the water to go a nice colour, rather than muddy and brown. We’ve flooded the last 2 years but prior to that it’s not happened for about 14 years, so we’re hoping it’s not gonna be every year going forward. This time of year we top up the pond with the water pumped from our well, but it doesn’t need a whole lot. The level drops probably about 15% during this season. Hope this helps 🙏

      Define work. If you’re referring to me digging holes and shovelling mud ON SOMEONE ELSE’S LAND, and getting paid for it, then of course you’re correct. But if you’re talking about me digging holes and shovelling mud on my own land, then that’s utterly ridiculous. By the same definition am I also prohibited from cooking myself a meal in my own kitchen? Does the law prevent me from sweeping my front porch without a work permit? You’ve been grossly misinformed 😅
