exactly a bov only works when the throttle is shut off after boost to stop boost being made and stops compressor surge. the wastegate allows full boost to remain the same pressure as you said

Actualy it´s not the "Blow off valve" making that sound like he said. It´s the Wastegate regulating the exhaust pressure. When the turbo approaches full boost the wastegate releases exhaust so the turbo can hold the same boost even though the exhaust pressure increases!

@hirirsi that also depends on how the turbos are setup; sequential or parallel. 1jzgte and 2jz run sequential and cars like the 300zx twin turbo run parallel. Sequential is 2 turbos, one spooling up first and the other coming on line at a set rpm point and taking over as the other one runs out of efficiency.

My god. That sound is unbelievable!!!! On top of that, your car is beautiful!! I'd pick a Skyline over a Supra any day. I'd have a harder choice picking between and Rx-7, and a Skyline. Thing is, they are totally 2 different platforms. GTR is all wheel drive, and the 7 is rear. All of the above, are awesome cars though.

That sounds intense, I have watched this clip like 10 times.
I have an R33 GTS-T with an RB30DET which is a 3L block with a 2.5L twin cam head on it. Garret GT3540R with the largest front and read options. 1000cc injectors, Microtech, JUN intake manifold etc.
Any way I just had a custom 2" screamer pipe installed off the back of my 2" external wastegate. I can't wait to get the car tuned so I can hear it. The screamer dumps out just infront of the back wheel so it should sound good.
@SimonHN I was told by a R33 owner that they aren't legal because emissions standards. it was at a car show.

its the blow off valve releasing extra boost made by the turbo. its actually a "blowing" noise not a "sucking" noise.

@SimonHN They're slightly different... the r34 having the NEO which has variable intake and exhaust cams, instead of just exhaust

@nick081980 and i agree, the GT-R in my opinion was meant for a nasty circuit race due to the HICAS and all the other great stuff. If you want a drag car the GTS25T is rear wheel drive and turbo'd as well as takes a good beating.

@SeiLaSperanza in new zealand they are so common you see a skyline every time you go for a drive you can buy gtr skylines for around $12,000 and a gtst for around $5000

Do You have HKS Vcam Pro installed ?
you need a waste-gate on most turbo cars. It bypasses exhaust away from the turbo to prevent over boosting.
